  1. Started a list, haven’t used the notes function on the iPhone for yonks and can’t believe how many features it now has, you can even tick stuff off, what a dream!
  2. Interesting there is still a fair bit of space at the back of Oxylers. I’m guessing that eventually fills up? I guess it would be impossible to know it’s there without someone telling you though, so I guess a lot of people take one look and assume it’s at capacity.
  3. Plus an image, I wonder what time this is?
  4. I think this feeds back into the whole not taking popularity for granted again though. They’ll always get returns, so in theory it doesn’t really matter as they’ll always have the admin and associated cost of a resale, the fact you lose half your deposit if you don’t pay your balance gives us a strong hint of the cost and the fact they’d rather everyone paid though. But putting that aside, their default position will be to never ever assume they’ll always just be 500% over subscribed whatever they do, so they’ll always start from the position of hoping 100% of people want to pay of their balance, and act accordingly to make that as likely as possible. The reality is that will never be the case but they aren’t going to get into the habit of assuming it.
  5. The issue is the Festival will never take selling out for granted, so it’s always a balancing act. It doesn’t matter if you’re Glastonbury or anyone, as soon as you make assumptions that you’ll always be popular and start making decisions based on that assumption then things can unravel very quickly.
  6. Well I could tweet Wolf Alice are headlining, but it seems a waste, who would you rather I tweet was headlining?
  7. That’s a bit like me tweeting Wolf Alice are headlining.
  8. Things still looked pretty dark when Omicron emerged, at least from the point of how it was reported on at the time, and that was really only just a few months ago. It’s amazing how quickly things can change, thankfully for the better this time!
  9. I was thinking that, but no doubt they were so scared of not being able to put the festival on again that it was more than worth having the peace of mind of bringing him on board.
  10. If that’s the case it’s definitely the place to aim for, you can literally sit and watch the stage from your tent.
  11. You can’t be near everything, but it’s right next to the other stage, silver hayes (dance area) and not far from Arcadia. it’s probably about as central as you can get, but fairly intense with everything around it, so probably perfect for what you want!
  12. Absolute scum, unfortunately because he’s a valuable footballer nothing will happen, unlike the horse slapping teacher who lost her job.
  13. As far as Glastonbury is concerned those Kickstarter jobs are an incredible opportunity… however there is a lot of abuse with that scheme by normal companies. The idea is that you don’t necessarily pay the minimum wage, only pay them for 25 hours and then get rid of them after 6 months when it ends. The idea is you keep them on, pay them more etc. I know because I run a small business and I keep getting hassled by companies trying to get us to take people on. The problem is we don’t really have need for them and as an ethical business we have certain conditions about paying a certain amount above living wage etc. So it would be against our principals to employ people basically for free on the terms of the Kickstarter programme. I must reiterate that as far as Glastonbury is concerned it’s a fantastic opportunity for anybody who gets it.
  14. How many tickets do you get if you own a house in Pilton then? Is it a set number or one for each official resident of the house?
  15. Thankfully I think that is the plan, just to get one or two day tickets to Sonar, not the whole weekend, then just spent the rest of the time round Barcelona. I also need to be very careful not to lose me phone (which will hopefully make me be more careful) as last time I went I got it pick pocketed but that’s another story.
  16. That’s great your mate understood. Unfortunately any of my mates who would understand are all Glastonbury goers so would never be the ones to be having the weddings. The rest just wouldn’t get it and it would cause some rifts. Really OT but one of my mates booked his wedding to clash with an FA Cup final that another mate supported had got to. He didn’t go to the wedding as he got tickets and my other mate wouldn’t talk to him for a year!
  17. This was my initial concern (I’m 40) but I’d finally come to terms with that only to have a panic about covid again. Sorry to hijack the thread again everyone, I guess there is a bit of an overlap in terms of flying back to the UK a few days before the festival though.
  18. Well that was the question I was asking, I had assumed there wouldn’t be but suddenly panicked there might be. Of course he hasn’t done anything wrong, although having said that they know we have Glastonbury the following weekend and one of our group has kids, so it’s less than ideal he’ll be spending close to two weeks away from them with just a couple of days in the middle.
  19. I know, it’s a nightmare. Problem is the other two people from our group are also ushers, obviously I’m not but he’s still one of my best mates. I think this guy is determined to ruin Glastonbury as he tried to rearrange the wedding for Glastonbury weekend initially (in 2020 it wasn’t until August) until we managed to persuade him to change it to the following weekend. Then he dropped this on us the other day. I’d been living on edge for 6/12 months waiting for 5 weddings and 3 stags to be rearranged this year and thought I’d finally got away with it. Unfortunately he’s one of those people who just doesn’t get it, and would take it as a real insult to miss his stag so I could go to Glastonbury. Might just have to fake getting covid before his stag.
  20. Apologies for the mini hijack of the thread, as I’m not from abroad but reading it suddenly made me panic a bit. A mate has decided to choose to go to Barcelona for his stag the weekend before Glastonbury to go to Sonar. I think we come back on the Sunday, do we think there is any chance of any pre/post testing/quarantining going/coming back from abroad/ + any chance of covid passports/tests needed for Glastonbury? I’d just assumed everything will be completely normal by then, but equally I’d always said to myself at given points since the pandemic I’d be hiding at home a week before Glastonbury of there was any sort of testing needed to get in, so I’ll be bloody raging if I get covid on this stag and that’s how it transpires. There are two others on the stag who are in my Glastonbury group as well, we’re all triple jabbed. Again apologies for the hijack but just had a mini panic!
  21. I know, tell me about it! I have been on the Wednesday a couple of times, once was an absolute disaster though as it was 2016 so ended up seeing the fireworks making our way through one of the car parks on Wednesday evening. The other time when I didn’t get tickets we stayed offsite so came on the Wednesday. Wednesday and Thursday are my favourite days, so it blows my mind anyone would to miss one of them, plus not to mention the issues ending up in less than ideal camping spots, which can affect your whole festival a bit as well.
  22. We normally tend to arrive on Thursday because for some annoying reason most of my mates think arriving Wednesday is too long, as a result we normally end up camping in pretty much the same place which is kind of beyond the JP. This is an absolute nightmare after spending the evening in the SE corner and basically miles away from pretty much everywhere we spend our time, but at the time nobody tends to think about that and it’s just path of least resistance when we arrive. Hopefully this year I can at least persuade some people to come on the Wednesday (what with it being 3 years since the last one) there is no way I can get them to arrive the night before, but hopefully we should be able to get there around lunchtime/early afternoon Wednesday. I’d imagine Oxylers is full by then, but in reality I don’t think I’d want to camp there anyway, but is there anywhere around that vicinity that won’t be full around Wednesday lunchtime-ish? Also What gate is best to aim for, D? That seems the general area I think we’d like to be in an ideal world, but I appreciate we need to realistic bases on arrival time.
  23. There have been some monster other stage crowds over the years for earlier spots, Rag n Bone Man?
  24. Is Anderson .Paak a genuine possibility? Would be top of my wish list as didn’t see him in 2017.
