  1. Christ, has this place ever been this bitchy?  It's a festival... we all listen to different music, it can't please everyone all the time.  For what it's worth, i was mostly bored out of my brain at last years, but i didn't moan about it beforehand, it's one of them things.  This time around, it looks absolutely perfect for me and i can't wait to get down there again.

If it's not your thing, flog your ticket or hang out and catch some films, listen to some chats, discover something new.  It's fine to have a whinge because i know it's a long weekend if the line-up isn't your thing, but sounding like little kids is a bit over the top... it's a music festival, not life and death.

I saw Cat Power at The Garden Stage. She was a bit wobbly that night. Kept walking on and off stage, unhappy with the sound and the lighting. There does seem to be more stage monitoring issues on the Garden than any other stage in recent years - Big Thief, Jonathan Wilson and others this year, Julie Byrne last year. It's a shame because the sound quality for the audience is great.

Not disagreeing with you regarding the Garden Stage but in terms of Cat Power, that's more to do with her i think.  I too saw her that night and i've seen her a dozen times over what must be 15 years or so and i honestly think she's been 'flawless' once!  She always leaves the stage only to come back and promptly leave again.  I genuinely don't mind it... i guess i just accept it as the price for hearing her sing!

I really hope she returns to EOTR in '19... probably Garden again if i had a choice but, to agree with you again, hopefully with no sound issues as definitely a factor this year.

  3. Stoked with this 1st announcement and i personally tend to get more excited once the later ones are made.  Missed Newsome in '11 so this will make up for that.  Seen Cat Power a bunch of times and thankfully never witnessed a break-down so hopefully that run will continue!  Already in love with the likes of Devendra, Phosphorescent, Jeffrey Lewis, M Ward (M fucking Ward!!!) but also feeling the vibes for The Big Moon, Amber Arcades, Dilly Dally and Holly Macve.

    It's looking good!

  4. Ticket in the bag so might as well start list-wishing...

Evan Dando - solo in the tipi or with latest incarnation of The Lemonheads on garden stage

Jesus and Mary Chain - a big top noise explosion would be good

Grandaddy - new record in the pipeline and still owed 3-4 songs from curfew cut-off a few years back

Cat Power - another one for the garden stage

Mercury Rev - any stage they want...

King Gizzard - i guess touring stopped them from being part of the Heavenly event

Other than that (and even failing that), i don't really care - not been to a bad one yet.
