  1. Some fun guitar work on this tune.
  2. For anyone into grime, Ruff Sqwad is one of the most influential groups in the genre. They've produced so many classic beats that you'll probably recognise. A genuinely really exciting booking.
  3. Haven't listened to it, but I wouldn't be surprised if people are just getting tired of the overexposure. She has had 8 albums, a concert film and constant press coverage just in the 2020s. That's a lot for any artist.
  4. +1 on this. If you're into mid-80s dreamy indie music in the style of AR Kane or the Durutti Column I'd recommend her latest project.
  5. Blimey Neil. Someone asked for a quote and I posted it. I don't care about the downvote (but thanks to those who have upvoted me) but this is a bit of an odd response to a fairly innocuous post. Let's just be clear - I couldn't disagree more with Frank Turner's comments there.
  6. Good. I was worried there weren't enough acts that were booked in 2016/17 playing.
  7. "To start with, most people don't seem to understand what the difference between left and right is. For example, the BNP are a hard left party. I consider myself a libertarian, I consider myself to be pretty right wing and I get sh*t for saying that out loud. I was thinking about it the other day, I was thinking about how, quite often, I do keep myself to myself on the subject because I can't be f**king bothered to have some guy look all shocked at me because I think socialism's retarded." (moonandbackmusic.com, December 2009) "I do firmly believe that leftist politics lead to the misery of many, the crushing of the little guy and all that kind of thing. I mean, it's important for me to say that in public because I believe it strongly and that sometimes in life you've got to f**king put your foot down." (Source as above) "I think, arguably, particularly with the signing of the Lisbon treaty it's actually the end of about 800 years of continuous parliamentary history. I think the people responsible for the signing of that f**king treaty without asking the people of Britain need to burn in f**king hell." (Source as above) "Delving into political philosophy here, but I get very frustrated with people who publicly have issues with private companies and then have no problem at all with the state funding stuff. The bottom line is the British Film Council gets its money out of threat of violence towards citizens, which is why it's infinitely worse than money that comes from some fizzy drink. At the end of the day, I don't actually give a sh*t, but if you made me choose between those two methods I think that state funding is much more of a greater evil on society. Those are my politics … I've got no problem with using taxes to pay for essential things like defence or the basics of a healthcare system. But whether or not we're threatened with the removal of our liberty to pay for someone to make a film, I personally struggle with." (huckmagazine.com, March 2011)

    Idles

New album seems to have disappeared from the Earth and had no impact whatsoever. Can't believe a band their size is headlining the Other in 2024.
  9. What a surprise, all the speculation about Lulu getting a mega-slot on the Pyramid was cack. Pretty good year to be honest - Skindred is a great booking. Some artists on their way up.
  10. Anybody watched the Coachella live stream for this lot? Looked brilliant. This video is just a fan one so hopefully they post the full set at some point. I think they're going to tear up the farm. So good.
  11. Find it interesting everyone's had issues with the line-up but seem fairly happy with the acoustic this year. I've not heard of a good half of the artists there! Just shows how subjective it can be.
  12. Hopefully there's an LCD friendly crowd for this. Would be perfect in the sunset. I don't want them to get the Beck treatment.
  13. Apologies if this is a pre-existing thread, but I couldn't find a recent one. Because there's been a bit of negativity surrounding the line-up I thought this would be a nice thread. Loose rules: one track per user per day. I'll start us off: My Summer anthem last year and it's gone a bit underrated I feel. Everyone bigs up their collaboration with DJ Seinfeld (Now U Do) but this track has a 90s vibe which I really enjoy.
  14. Two Door Cinema Club are massive among young people. Late 00s/ early 10s indie bands have had a TikTok resurgence. There's a reason R+L have booked them and Catfish and the Bottlemen. I work in a secondary school and I hear a lot of love for those kinds of acts which did surprise me. Plus, there's Burna Boy, SZA, The Last Dinner Party, Confidence Man, Anne-Marie, Declan McKenna, Yard Act, D-Block Europe, Ghetts, Peggy Gou, Fontaines D.C., Kenya Grace, Headie One and Little Simz who are all big with younger punters.

    Lulu

    Don't read The S*n.
  16. Dunno why people want Eminem to turn up to mime for an hour. Let alone the fact he asks for silly money anyway.
  17. Why does it have to take place on worthy Farm? Imagine how many more hotel options there would be if it was held at Wembley?
  18. Maybe they could put down a giant picnic blanket across each of the stages and have the volunteers go round with a refreshment trolley? Although I wouldn't be too happy with people stepping on my blanket. Who do they think they are? Don't they know how important the sides of my picnic blanket are? They probably want to dance and ruin the subdued vibe.
  19. I love the festival most the time, but I can't help but wish Car Henge was bigger.
  20. See you there mate, Love What Survives is one of the best albums of the 2010s. Bringing out King Krule and James Blake for it is gonna be special af.
  21. Honestly I'm just annoyed there's so much pointless stuff that does nothing to draw in the BBC audience. No-one's tuning in for Shangri-La, or the Healing Fields so why not sack it off?
  22. There's a bunch of artists I love like Mount Kimbie and Alvvays that I've never seen live. I wouldn't say they're exciting bookings but I'm glad they're there.
  23. Some of the best stuff I saw last year (Erika De Casier, Four Tet) wasn't on the main poster so I'll probably be grand.
  24. It requires people to not treat the largest music festival in Europe like they're having a comfy BBQ in their back garden which seems to be a bit too difficult for some unfortunately.
  25. Feel lumping James Blake in that crowd is a little harsh. He's become a really successful producer and writer on some of the most popular artists in the world (Beyonce, Kendrick, Travis Scott) but I agree there's a lot of stale bookings on there.
