  1. Glastonbury on sea is lovely if you need a breather. Some cool merch there as well. Nice to have an area where you can't just hear constant dnb.
  2. Keir Starmer living it up at D:Ream
  3. At least it gave us potentially the funniest wikipedia page of all time: "Winston Aubrey Aladar deBalkan Marshall was born in Wandsworth, London, on 20 December 1987,to Sir Paul Marshall, a British tycoon who co-founded the Marshall Wace hedge fund and is the co-owner of GB News, and Sabina de Balkany, from a genteel European family." "He was inspired to play banjo after seeing O Brother, Where Art Thou?, switching to folk music and wearing his hair in dreadlocks. Referring to his youth exploits, he saw himself as a trustafarian"
  4. You know what I'm going to say don't you? If you don't care, why comment? He didn't just 'go on a podcast', he's been working with someone who stormed the capitol...
  5. Right, this might be a bit of a strange one. https://www.stereogum.com/2209281/ariel-pink-and-winston-marshall-went-on-tucker-carlson-to-promote-christmas-song-about-hunter-bidens-laptop/news/ Alex Trimble from Two Door Cinema Club teamed up with Ariel Pink (who attended the January 6th Capitol Attack) and Winston Marshall (ex-Mumford and Sons twat who has a podcast where he interviews such intellectuals as Candace Owens and Lawrence Fox). It's a song about the Hunter Biden laptop story, with lyrics like: "Laptop from hell they call it Laptop, they memory-holed it Close call, they took it down No sweat, we’re safe and sound Laptop from hell they called it Laptop they memory-holed it d*ck pics and crack-cocaine And China and Ukraine" He also was unable to tour due to not taking the COVID vaccine. Some people have said this is due to him being immunocompromised, but he was touring consistently in countries that didn't requite vaccine passports, so it seems unlikely. Puts the strangeness of their booking into an even worse perspective. I don't think all musicians should share the same views as me, but I thought it was worth sharing.
  6. They're currently tearing it up again. You can rewind the Coachella live streams. They've gone up to my top three artists to see this year.
  7. Happy for you mate. Hope you enjoy it/ The National! Sadly my two friends were unlucky this morning. Gonna start munching down Tony's chocolate like Augustus Gloop now.
  8. I've recommended her music in another thread, but if you're into dreamy 80s 4AD adjacent indie in the vein of early Lush, A.R. Kane, early Cocteau Twins you really need to give Nabihah Iqbal a go. Her album DREAMER was one of my favourites of last year.
  9. Can't imagine much good is going to come of this thread tbh.
  10. I've worked at a large event where there was someone who doing an act was asked to do no further slots because they'd included graphic themes without warning the audience. The events policies clearly state that anything to do with potentially triggering topics (sexual abuse, drug addiction, etc) The BBC got wind of the story and completely blew it out of proportion. Stating he was removed and getting the events name and what it was about wrong. It was pretty clear to me then how much the media sensationalises stories like this. Paul Currie isn't helping himself by describing the campaign against anti-semitism as extreme zionists though.
  11. They were, but she gets so much coverage that those re-releases were a massive deal.
  12. Sleaford Mods are a laugh. Don't think they take themselves seriously enough to warrant the hate tbh.
  13. For anyone into grime, Ruff Sqwad is one of the most influential groups in the genre. They've produced so many classic beats that you'll probably recognise. A genuinely really exciting booking.
  14. Haven't listened to it, but I wouldn't be surprised if people are just getting tired of the overexposure. She has had 8 albums, a concert film and constant press coverage just in the 2020s. That's a lot for any artist.
