  1. Some of those coach prices are dodgy! The substantial jump in costs from 2019 to what will be 2024 at the next festival is worrying. At what point does it not become value for money? A lot of reasons for financial hits, but will the costs ever flatline or in turn come back down? All in all I still see the value in it, but just beginning to be more concerned with how things will be in 2029 if following this same trajectory. £400 for a van + £450 ticket with a £100 deposit 😁 spooky!

    2024 Headliners

You know what bud I've got no idea. I thought I read it was 2026, but not even sure it's confirmed yet unless someone can double down on when the next fallow is. Just seems like a very Coldplay thing to do as their last show on a 3+ year tour before disappearing for a very, very long period of time.

    2024 Headliners

Still standing by Coldplay being 2025 and Glastonbury being their last gig for a very long time (and it being marketed that way). Lets them sign off on a 3 year+ tour at the festival and disappear until 2030..

    2024 Headliners

I enjoyed Arctics but having watched them back I can see how it may not have been people's cups of tea. It's not always the case for every act, but if you're performing in the dark in a headline slot, I think having a very dim stage set up doesn't help the cause for people who may want to see what they're about/giving them a go. That coupled with a lack of crowd interaction can mean it'll be very hit and miss for a lot of people. I know you're there for the music, but I do think a live set can be enhanced with some visual eye candy.

    2024 Headliners

If there's anyone I'd back to pop up at the festival and do a one off performance, it's Coldplay. Can imagine after this tour they'll be taking a very long break, so what's more ideal for them to finish up at Glastonbury. Could also see that being 2024 tbh, but think if these dates stretch beyond June 2024 then they have to be decent contenders for 2025.

    2024 Headliners

Their best song for quite some time, probably since Up and Up for me off of AHFOD. I know they get slated on here by a good few, but they do put on a great performance, and the light show/fireworks with the wristbands works great. Do think they will do either 2024 or 2025 before the next fallow, it's just a matter of what else the festival has in mind. 2024 1975 Rihanna Dua Lipa 2025 Dave Coldplay Sam Fender
  7. Similar positions for sure. Although I think being a UK festival it does account for more making your way up from the bottom and progressing a big part of UK culture. Grime had felt stale for some time, and I think Stormzy across 2016 - 2019 when he headlined rejuvinated the genre. Skepta still had a few big tracks coming through with Shut Down and That's Not Me, and I enjoyed Ghetts 2018 release also, but it felt as though Stormzy was the leader of the new school at the time, and was a huge driving force of a slowly fading genre with no new mainstream stars coming through since the earlier days of grime/UK rap. I can remember thinking Heavy is the Head was due to come out earlier than it did, and I may be wrong but expected that to be out long before his Glastonbury headline slot in 2019. So agree that positions are similar in terms of 1 album, past experience, relatively known songs/hits, but I do think the relativity of being the widely known leader of the new school of mainstream grime coming through at that time 4 - 5 years ago definitely made the gamble for the festival easier to sell. Since then you've had the likes of Dave, J Hus and now even Central Cee making themselves household names to an extent (I don't believe J Hus or Central Cee ever get near a headline slot on the pyramid btw), but I think in terms of steam, Stormzy had more behind him at the time, and was a homegrown talent, leading a homegrown genre of music back to the mainstream.
  8. It's subjective and opinion based, but absolutely no way does Olivia Rodrigo headline next year, nor should she. Nothing to do with merit, she just plain and simply isn't big enough to headline surely. Just checked and her last tour in the UK was around Apollo's and o2 Academy's of the world. I think she needs one arena tour on the second album to be in contention for a headline slot, so still think she has some dues to pay before she's anywhere near a headliner for the biggest festival in the world sorry. I get she's got the youth/trajectory/fans to make a push towards superstardom, but after 1 album and a small run of UK shows, it's quite baffling that she's being pushed by a few as headliner material. If she releases her next album tomorrow and she's all over the top 10 and we can't avoid her on the drive to and from work, then maybe as a wild card and a lack of other options she gets the nod, but to say she's already there and should be pushed simultaneously to Dua/Fender/Dave who should all take centre stage I think as a pyramid headliner before O-Rod, I think is hopeful fast-tracking above all else. I think if album 2 does well, and she has a couple of big hits, she's most likely nearly there, but I still think she's this + a proper arena tour away from being close to a headliner for Glastonbury.
  9. This was a topic we ran through on the weekend, first proper catchup as a group of friends with our partners on Saturday now that the blues have faded and everyone is feeling human again! After being at 8 festival's now since the early 10's, I feel as though as pattern has emerged for me and the rest of my group. There are some years at Glastonbury where we've been in the past and everything just goes perfectly. By this I mean the weather, the line up, the narcotics, the energy levels, the headliners, falling lucky on to little quirks, the crowds, the night times providing memories and a few other things to. I've had Glastonbury's in the past where this has happened (2014, 2015 and 2022 most notable for me). Everything has went swimmingly, we've had bands for the rabbit hole due to lingering around the area on the Thursday and having VIP entry for the weekend (ran into Bradley Cooper in 2015, Simon Pegg last year!) and the headliners/acts we've saw have just all fitted in and we've fell on our feet. I remember having last done Glastonbury in 2019 and I ended up with sun stroke on the Saturday, which pretty much wrote half of the weekend off for me. 2016 I enjoyed but can remember returning home and debating whether I'd even want to go back to the festival in similar conditions, as everything just seemed grey, it was a task getting around the site and it just wasn't the same festival as the previous two. So back to back in 2016 and 2019, I came home from the festival thinking if I miss the next one or two then so be it. Fast forward to heading into 2022 and having tickets rolled over for 3 years, I was up for the week ahead, but didn't give it too much thought. 2022 then ended up most likely being my favourite of the then 7 so far Glastonbury's I'd been too. Some unbelievable highs and I remember getting home and spent a good 2 weeks rewatching every set I was at and sifting through my own photos and videos praying that I got tickets for 2023. Fortunately around 80% of our group got tickets, and looking back I think I built up this year too much in my own mind as 2022 was the best of the best, and ended up having a very mediocre year this year which I've now finally admitted to myself. From the line up being the weakest it has been for me since I've been going to the festival, the weather at times causing a few issues as many of our group had to hide out until it passed on the Saturday, not having much luck with queues this year for the likes of the rabbit hole/temple when we gave it a good hour until deciding to call it a night, overcrowding at a number of the sets in the nights I had looked forward too, and just a lot more hassle this year with our group spending much time together as everyone went off to do their own thing Thursday to Sunday. I had a great time with my partner taking some time to ourselves, but this year outside of Elton John on the Sunday, there wasn't another time all of us were together, so very few talking points post-festival amongst our group really where we can look back and point to some of the highs, as they were all experienced individually this year rather than as a collective at last year's festival. As I mentioned above, from my experience at Glastonbury, everything can either go right and luck is on your side, or there can just be a number of small niggles which take away some of the elation of the festival. I used to love being perched up on the hill at the Park by the Glastonbury sign of a Wednesday, then into stone circle for the fireworks. Now it doesn't seem plausible for how busy it seems to have been the last two festivals. I think the lineup will definitely play a much bigger role in whether I go if I'm lucky enough to get tickets, as after 8 festivals, there's less to explore and find as it's all a bit common knowledge by then, so whereas the first few years I went I would find new tents, areas, quirks that I hadn't experienced the festival before, that element of the festival has now dried out for me, so I feel as though I need a strong line up to keep me busy enough with at least 2 or 3 must see acts a day as opposed to only seeing a handful this year, with only 3 must sees across the weekend. I also believe being away from the farm for a years between 19 and 22 played a massive role, as it seemed to feel new and fresh again, and the excitement of simply walking to and from places and stages and seeing the areas all lit up just seemed to warm me up. This year it felt like I hadn't left when I got back to the farm, and the same feeling just wasn't there. Maybe I do need to do a year on/year off as someone else had mentioned in this thread, to help build up the excitement whenever I am able to get to the festival. That being said, I'll still be trying in October/November!
  10. I'd love nothing more than SL/SEC to bring back some more of its old quirks. At this point in its lifetime it feels as though it's just a dance festival in itself, with some decent scenery, but nothing worth venturing there for unless you really want to see an act/dj who's performing. I never went to SEC at all this year, which now coming home from the festival I'm a bit gutted about. Mainly because I don't have the enthusiasm to stay up much past 3am, and Silver Hayes provided what I needed in terms of dance music if that's how my night was planned. I do think one thing which could be considered is more hot spots/opportunities for secret parties in secret areas if the festival can look to reshape SEC and other areas. I know it's a big ask, but I just look at the likes of the rabbit hole/funkingham palace and NYC downlow and how sought after these locations are for people across the weekend. I even saw videos of additional Skream secret sets, as well as Seth Troxler playing Maceo's I believe. I know it's not as easy as just introducing new clubs/venues such as RH and NYC, but the attraction around them and the queues each night show how much weight they carry for festival goers. These are the type of attractions, plus the quirkier elements the festival used to focus on with more actors and themes ongoing, that make you come away and feel as though you've been a part of something special, and have a story to tell when it comes to what you got up to at Glastonbury 2010/11/2022/23.. and so forth. I get it's a different beast now, and cuts are obviously impacting the site all over, as even Funkigham Palace seemed very much reduced size wise this year compared to 2022, but potentially introducing some revamps to the SEC along with looking at where else on site things could be expanded (The Park definitely has room for something new) then I think it would be welcomed by all attendees. Hate to be that person, but as it stands the spark of the SEC has faded for me personally, and I do think the area has so much potential and is a big attraction for the music it showcases and for those first timers visiting the festival, I just think it would be great if a rethink on what the SEC has to offer other than DnB/dance music could be reviewed to bring back some of the excitement to the area.
  11. Stayed in these this year. They sleep 4 but they're not really built for 4 adults (2 couples). Bags are on top of one another as if you've got a couple of bags and then any booze it's just a means of piling it all up and searching for things the following morning. The bunk beds themselves were average, and our girlfriends on the top bunk must have banged their heads several times each night, but more frustrating was that was the noise the top bunk beds made whenever you'd need to shuffle around in the bed, would nearly wake the rest of us up it would creek that loudly! We still didn't get woken up by the heat until 9am-ish which seemed to beat some of our other party who were staying in the basic pop up tents, as they seemed to struggle from around 7am each morning with the heat. For the value of money I don't think I'd head back to sticklinch, with the main reason being the long walk back in all honesty.

    2024 Headliners

Sam Fender 2025 for me. New album late 2024/2025 and then take on the headliner spot with a few more songs as big as 17 GU/Hypersonic Missiles. Think Fred Again could ultimately find himself in the Other headliner criteria unless we he releases a smash hit of sorts, although going off of last Friday's performance which is one of my favourite ever Glastonbury shows, he could definitely pull it off. I think Dave with another critically acclaimed album is a sure thing too, it just depends on timing as I think 2024 is Dua, and 2025 is Fender, so not sure if he finds a space in the mix over those two years or not, which I think will depend on the size of the guitar/heritage act that Glasto may bag to balance things out (AC/DC, Madonna, Fleetwood Mac). Whether your cup of tea or not, it's at least refreshing to have a number of new names floating around the scene as to who could realistically take the top spot.
  13. I done Sticklinch last year and this year. This year seemed busier (not sure if more tents/accomm was available), as the queues for the showers and toilets seemed double what they were last year. No idea why the mens showers were reduced, we waited an hour Friday and Saturday morning for a shower, which when I'm paying £225 for the stay I don't expect to be queuing for so long. I appreciate there will always be a queue, but last year we seemed to wait no longer than 20 minutes each morning for a shower which was perfectly fine. The last two years have had nice weather too, so I think it will get testing in a poorer year weather wise as standing for an hour isn't sustainable in heavy rain. The lack of facilities just doesn't make sense for the price you pay either, and I think that they could really do with splitting up some basic coffee/food stalls around the site as per the colour code of the camping (I think there were 5 or 6 colour codes for where you check in at, so having your own showers/toilets/food vendors per colour would make a lot more sense). Again, last year I'd queue for a coffee first thing, but did so Friday morning this year and waited 30 minutes just for a coffee. The walk back of a night was hellish also, as it genuinely put me off going to the SE corner as it's a 45 minute walk back from there, which led to me only going to Block 9 once and then never again after Thursday night as I couldn't face the walk back from there. The pros are great, as in not having to worry about a camping space/carry tents/car park easily accessible meaning quick trips in and out and the ability to leave extra beer/spirits and other bits there to take out each day if need be, but for the money it costs I definitely think it needs additional facilities across the whole of sticklinch (not just where things currently are) to improve it a lot. I can imagine the costs go up again next year, and I'm not sure I can suffice paying £250+ for what we got this year. If I had to choose between SL and WV, I'd choose WV though for sure unless anyone struggles with steep hills!

    2024 Headliners

A lot of Rihanna talk, isn't she pregnant with her second child currently? I know by next fest she will be probably 6 - 9 months post-baby, but not sure if she's realistic given the lack of new music/live shows/children as it is. I think Dua Lipa is nailed on, but the other two slots I'm unsure on. The talk of there being 2 female headliners made sense if Taylor looked a cert, but I'm on the side of her tour dates being solely focussed on her current show rather than a festival appearance. I think time will tell, if the likes of Mad Cool/Primavera/Sziget etc. come out later this year for their 24 fests and Taylor is on a few, then I think she has a set festival show which she will do across the summer, but if no sign of her around European fests then it seems as though she's touring her current show next summer and not touching festivals. I'd be surprised if she does Glastonbury as a one off. This begs the question of which other female act could realistically headline. I know the 1975 are touring again later this year and into 2024, so there's a strong possibility they could headline, but just feels a bit stale off the back of an album which will be nearly 2 years old by G 2024, unless they drop something new beforehand. Dave also seems like one who could step into the frame, having not released anything since We're All Alone two years ago now, so it could be perfect timing for him to create buzz in 2023, and drop his third album in 2024 in advance of a headline slot at Glastonbury. A trio of Dave, 1975 and Dua Lipa just doesn't seem to read right though for Glastonbury, but I think there's a strong possibility two of those three take up the spots. If Rihanna was in the frame, then it balances out again, but not sold on her being active at the time. Could a Beyonce/Adele step back in for another crack at the whip? Or are we focussing too heavily on 2/3 being female acts. If she's well and healthy enough then I think if you add Madonna to any 2 of the above 3, then it reads like a Glastonbury trio. Dua Lipa Madonna 1975
  15. I'll never be on the side of simply booking a female act to balance out the male acts. Fair enough if she got bumped up, but just for me personally I'd have Lizzo down as one of the most underwhelming headliners (in terms of size/catalogue/trajectory, not musical taste) to take the spot. Capaldi would be in with a better shout than Lizzo even though he's playing below her the Saturday, I'd say he'd draw a much bigger crowd in a Friday night headline slot than Lizzo would. Each to their own I guess, I just wouldn't see her in a headline slot in 2023. Already surprised she's not third down the following day, with Capaldi subbing.
  16. Anyway, Alex will be fine. Would imagine they'd also have said Glastonbury is cancelled on that message rather than leave it an extra few days and then cancel. Could be wrong, but that's the way I've read it.
  17. Do people really believe Lizzo could/should headline? 🤨 nothing against her but I don't see in what world Lizzo would be a Glastonbury headliner.
  18. If true and it's Blossoms + RA/Hozier/Pretenders, that's a massively underwhelming trio for TBA acts. I get the hype around Blossoms and Rick Astley doing their thing, which seems cool enough to leave off of the line up, but what's the point of leaving the other two off and using TBA on the line up drop when neither act really deserves an unannounced slot of a main stage? Not to complain by the way, having the Foos already on the pyramid sort of blows anything else out the water, just quite confused as to why they've kept these acts behind if not for contractual reasons, as I really can't see what excitement any of them are going to generate on the day when the veil drops and it's each of the above. Sorry for being pessimistic, just feel as though if the festival are teasing us with TBA's, it should at least be for an act of a certain stature if not to everyone's taste!
  19. This. Diana was chocker last year so we had to walk up to the back of the pyramid field and then find a way down through the crowds. Although it appears really busy around the edges, the matter of fact is that there's a substantial amount of people on that outer crowd sat with picnic blankets, chairs etc. I don't have an issue with this, but when we then started to head down through the crowd from the back of the field, it was said people on chairs and lying down sunbathing that then started having a right go at us purely because we wanted to head into the crowd and find a decent space to watch her from. Literally nearly came to blows at one point as a group of lads were clearly trying to block us from walking through although there was vast amounts of space in front of them by about 20 yards, and then they started calling us scum bags for just trying to get a decent spot! Surely if you're going to set up a picnic blanket and have a snooze by the stage you can't really complain if people are working past you to find a decent enough space with a bit of atmosphere around it. Not as though we were parking ourselves right in front of someone and blocking their view, it was literally just a case of excusing ourselves through people sat down not even paying attention to the stage for them to then berate us for wanting to actually watch the performance. Baffles me!
  20. I think it was early hours Friday morning it came down. I was in strummerville and the rain starting falling, it was surprisingly lovely.

    The churnups

With the info we have on the Friday Woodsies TBA (band, not huge) and looking at the bands around and touring, I can’t look past Bombay Bicycle Club/TDCC. Trying to brainstorm others who’d be playing a similar sized slot to courteeners, who would still generate some sort of excitement in an unannounced slot on a Friday night/try and split crowds from the pyramid ever so slightly. Not to say either of those are going to cause much excitement, but if the info we’re given is not to expect someone the size of Blur, Pulp, 1975, Florence etc I can’t really think of any other bands a few tiers down who’d fit into that slot. Others who have played the festival/may be around too who would potentially do that slot would possibly be Tame Impala (doubtful, no dates), Interpol (not mentioned at all), Frank Ferdinand, Bon Iver (germany the week before). Aware that this is a churnups thread sorry, I’m just starting to become more puzzled by this TBA than the churnups themselves. Has to be either Foos or Pulp at this point now.
  22. Have saw earlier Hozier is doing a warm up show on June 21st, does this spell him out to be one of the TBA's? Pretty underwhelming but in reality all four slots surely can't be a combination of Pulp/Foos/1975/Blur level acts, so Hozier for may be the Friday or Saturday TBA slot may just sound about right if there is one or two acts on the bigger side of the fence playing in the other TBA slots.
  23. I can’t see Pulp not showing up in one of the Pyramid/Woodsies/Park slots. Friday Pyramid: Foos/Pulp Friday Woodsies: Kasabian Saturday Woodsies: The 1975 Saturday Park: Paolo Nutini Would happily interchange any of those with Florence/Bon Iver.
  24. Ye I’m just now getting the feeling that Thursday will come and go as it’ll feel like one big rush to get in, get everything sorted and then head straight out. Won’t feel like I actually can compose myself until Monday morning! Was really hoping for something 9am or prior to be able to put my feet up for a few hours before the party starts, but hey ho.
  25. Underwhelmed - 12pm from Liverpool on the Thursday, which probably means I won’t be in, sorted and out until around 6ish at best now come Thursday afternoon. Of course I’m lucky enough to have a ticket but have to say I’m slightly gutted with those timings.
