that does sound like it's likely. tickets are gonna go fast then. any idea how old this leak is?

    Do you think?
I thought Download had a poor record for selling out?

With the prices as they are I don’t expect I can get a ticket until Feb.

  2. Fair does but as a 38 year old who will be 39 when the festival rolls around and spent my younger years attending Download regularly the booking of BMTH is a huge draw for me to come back. I’ve got no interest at all in seeing the same old bands being brought back out year after year.

I’d much rather see bands like BMTH or Ghost or Parkway Drive or anyone who’s maybe at that point where they could headline be given the bump up and keep the festival fresh. If that was happening I don’t think it would have been so long that I’ve been away from the festival.

Ghost are squarely in the nerd metal bracket with Nightwish, Sonata Arctica etc. I say that with love, but they will definitely appeal to the DDs more than BMTH

That said, if Download have Ghost clashing with BMTH, this festival deserves its inevitable fate.

Oh "inevitable fate" you said? I thought...nevermind.

The rumour I saw, which obviously is not to be taken as anywhere near serious until proven otherwise, was that it was to placate those mad about BMTH headlining.

How much faith do you have in the Download bookers though? 😉

So the double denim crowd like Ghost? Isn't it a bit leftfield for them with the look 🤣? Suppose they toured with Metallica extensively which will have got them some brownie points in their eyes.

This is not good for me lol.

I did post a rumour I saw on Reddit awhile back that they are gonna headline second Vs BMTH.

    Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

This would be terrible for me, Ghost need to be below the headliner...or maybe against Slipknot if it has to happen. Purely from my selfish point of view yes, before anyone says it 🤣

I agree, there are these type of rock bands who have more indie fanbases but defo have a place at DL.

Amazons, Pale Waves, Kid Kapichi, Cleopatrick, Tigercub and on a bigger level Royal Blood

I love them but would have laughed in your face at the thought of them playing Download after the first two albums but this third one defo has some strong pop punk vibes that I think they might not be that out of place at Download.

  7. Just booked the time off work for next year, I'm inching closer to getting a ticket lol.

After seeing the price of Maiden tickets today I think this will probs be one of the last times I'm gunna see Metallica as I'm not forking out near £100 for one of their own gigs.

  8. I remember Metallica general standing ticket's on their last stadium tour were £125 each and that was just general, they had the golden circle going on which was even more expensive. First time I'd ever backed out of buying tickets but still ended up going as got a free ticket through a mate of my dad's who had a spare going.

I think two tickets for Muse next summer was £150, just shy. £75 for a big outdoor gig with big production is fair enough I think, I'd even say for a big arena gig that's fair enough. More than that and it's something I'd have to really consider.

I also think anything above £40 for an academy show is over priced unless it's a mega act doing special one off shows in a small venue.

Neil has replied to the wrong message.  He wasn’t indicating WhoOdeessy is lying, was aimed at the other person

But agreed… should check before confusing matters

So we're saying there's no hope of a Paramore headline appearance?

That was a very short lived moment of joy...

I don’t like his music at all but that guy deserves all the applause for how well he has done. The first time I became aware of him was about 10 years ago when he was shouting about Van Persie leaving Arsenal. Now he’s selling out arenas and headlining Reading and Leeds. Fair fucking play to the dude.

I met him once before I knew who he was, I used to manage a late night bar in Watford and he came to look around  to book it out for a private event which never happened. Neither I nor the general manager realised who he was or believed he could pay the fee for a private hire on a Friday night as obvs it was a big fee, que 6 months later when I realised who it was.

He was an absolutely lovely guy and very humble.
