  1. What I tell myself whenever I'm going through a depressive episode is a quote from 24 Hour party people (courtesy of Beothius) "It's my belief that history is a wheel. "Inconstancy is my very essence," says the wheel. "Rise up on my spokes if you like, but don't complain when you're cast back down into the depths. Good times pass away, but then so do the bad. Mutability is our tragedy, but it's also our hope. The worst of times, like the best, are always passing away." Like all moods and state of mind, depression will pass in time and while it may feel like your own brain (and brain chemistry) is working against you, you can still overcome it and enjoy yourself. When this occurs in Glastonbury, it can be tough. It is supposed to be the happiest place on earth and there's a high expectation for you to have a good time, all the time. But that's not always the case, and that is ok. The best thing to do is to not put yourself under any pressure to enjoy yourself and remove that expectation that can drag you down if you let it. Focus on yourself and your needs. If you need space / quiet. Find it. If you need to talk to someone, talk. If you feel bad about putting it on your friends, there's people in the healing fields that can help. I think in years gone past there has been a whatsapp group for people to check in with and reach out if they are in need so we could always do that again. If you take any medication, for gods sake take it. Withdrawal from some SSRIs can be brutal. if anyone is on antidepressants and are likely to sample some illegal chemicals, please check before hand for interactions between your meds and drugs. As for comedowns, I'll refer you to the quote above. After all, what comes up, must come down. The important thing to remember that it is only temporary. Once your brain chemistry gets back to normal, everything will be fine again.
  2. It doesn't. As long as temps get above 21c (which it is looking it will), the mud will dry out quickly.
  3. tuesday until 6am wednesday appears dry but after that it could be anywhere from 5mm to 10mm of rain depending on how quickly it blows over. While that may seem a lot, it isn't enough to do any serious damage. Soggy underfoot and the main walkways may get a bit churned but nothing that won't dry quickly if it remains dry
  4. It did! it was one of the bars between Pyramid and SH / Woodsies. I was working it that night they had the wrestling on. Great times!
  5. The tuesday Queue Crew look to avoid rain over night, but looks like we're in store for a little soak for when gates open
  6. Like The Jedi and The Sith, there must be balance in the force. In this case, The Nal keeps us from getting carried away and highlights how silly it can be getting carried away with forecasts too early
  7. Doesn't it just? I'm supposed to be working but constantly checking to see the next frame of the run. that low pressure is looking a lot weaker and we appear to miss the rain on the tuesday / wednesday. Hope the rest of the run holds up
  8. Though with 3 groups of 6, as soon as one group is successful they can start trying for the other 2 groups so that will raise the chances for the remaining people.
  9. The run up to 2016 was especially awful though. It's going to be ok. A little bit of high pressure from a plume or finger is all it takes to make the festival dry and warm.
  10. 2013, 2014, and 2015 all had showers (some quite heavy or lasting a few hours) and the ground was fine. Obviously the main walkways got churned up but it was manageable and in most cases, dried up relatively quickly. Even by the sunday in 2011, the ground was absolutely fine by sunday.
  11. It's possible. Groups of 18 have been successful in the past and usually, the larger groups have better odds of getting tickets if they work together. As long as you are all organised on ticket day, it should be possible. Good luck and congrats on the upcoming wedding.
  12. It's a bit of a downgrade with light to heavy rain throughout most of tuesday and wednesday. Things start to improve from thursday onwards when the rain becomes lighter and infrequent but still a bit damp.
  13. My expert analysis has lead me to believe that this run was clearly an outlier and can be discounted as such
  14. This is the worst of the weather on the thursday Saturday looks great so far Temps are looking to be around 22c most days, so pretty much ideal. Not a fan of the blob of low pressure hanging around and potentially soaking us on sunday but it's still early days. Hopefully the improvement will be sustained!
  15. Yep, am not a fan of the amount of low pressure systems we have above and around us. Then again, all it will take is a cheeky finger or a plume to banish it back where it belongs
  16. Indeed! I do have one and they're alright - definitely reduces the amount of lithium that is sent to landfill but mine sadly took a trip in the washing machine so haven't tried it since. Though I'm sure it has dried out now so it might be ok. Or it'll explode. Best charge it outside I think.
  17. I have a love/hate thing with elfbars. They are environmentally awful and can't understand why they haven't been banned as the waste is ridiculous - especially as there's few places where you can dispose of them properly and the fields of Glastonbury is the last place you'd want them to be. But they do hit the spot in a way that I haven't been able to replicate with any vape set up so far which is very very annoying. Either way, I'll be sticking to my aspire flexus. Coils last a few weeks, doesn't leak (or at least so far) and the battery is usually good for a day. it doesn't pump out too much vapour but I'm not a fan of making massive obnoxious clouds anymore. It'd be tough to enforce but hopefully the advisory will be enough to deter people.
  18. Tuesday the 20th for any degree of accuracy for the following 36 hours. Though from next week the trend for the week ahead will start to become clear. So as grim as some forecasts may look, nothing is set in stone yet so anything can happen.
  19. Currently showing rain of varying intensity from wednesday onwards. Next run will be out in a few hours, which will no doubt be different. We've still got over a week to go before the forecasts start becoming in any way reliable so no need to worry... yet.
  20. Can't have a rollercoaster without a few dips. Like I said after the last scorchio forecast, a lot can and will change in the next two weeks.
  21. All this talk of 2005 and 2007 has clearly made the weather gods nostalgic

    The churnups

indeed. The last couple of years The Other stage consistently sounds a lot better Thank god The Hives are here to kick things off with a bang again. Best way to start a festival. TBH, like a lot of legend acts (and to an extent, Elton), their voices not being as strong isn't too much of a problem when you've got the crowd singing along and if they give it beans, they'll get the crowd going no problem.

    The churnups

Yeah I saw them when they played The Other stage. Debbie's voice wasn't the strongest then and the performance felt a bit flat. Though back then the sound on that stage was poor so could have had an effect but I can't see Debbie's voice getting better in the last decade
  24. Drizzle at best. Nothing to worry about. Don't worry, I'm sure the next run will be completely different
