that will have been a long time before covid. Sonisphere hasn't happened for a decade or more!
2014 what a brilliant weekend that was

I'm on the no flag side but also big hats can get in the sea too. Saw some crazy fool with a sodding great pyramid on his head!

Sorry to hear. Had this at a festival (sonosphere) and there's almost sod all you can do except move. There's no reasoning with over excited teenage lads. Our average is about 1 in 15 too.
(After we moved, some crusty old bikers took our place - they didn't reason with the lads - the lads grew up fast)

Not to be Mr safety here, but the reason they don't want you sleeping in the carpark is fire - like they had at boomtown. Risk is minimal though.

If you go to the sponsors list at the bottom of the Download website, and click on Barclaycard, it says...
"Barclaycard – Official Payment Partner of Download Festival.
Your Barclaycard is your pass to hottest entertainment perks – save 10% on drinks* onsite when you show and pay with your Barclaycard. *T&Cs apply.
Find out more at: Barclaycard Entertainment."
Hopefully that's not a forgotten statement from last year.
Also, when paying say you're using barclaycard, get the discount then pay with whatever you have - works better on a phone app.

Pay the small performers that make the festival what it is. "exposure" ain't payment - it's exploitation.

The "zero profit" thing is unenforceable. And while it's a good defence against organised touting, it opens things right up to "opportunistic" touting. Anyone with fewer than six people in their group would be able to grab an extra ticket and at the prices some are willing to pay immediately after failing in the sale, probably cover the cost of two of their tickets.
This.
It's already happening with sell out gigs, people buy extra, sell at profit for a free gig themselves.

QuoteGlastonbury. We won't be there this year. Which will be sad. We've had a good run though. Done everyone since 2007. Too all at the fest who've followed us over the years I send my best. Enjoy it all muddy or sunny xx

What I find annoying is that the security isn't pushing people in the back to the front, at least a bit. There were numerous occasions where I could barely go through the first few rows of people in the back and then from the middle of the tent you can do cartwheels
Yep, they don't count people they just look at the jam at the back and close the doors, not reopening them either. They need to connect the people at the exits on the side who can see huge spaces to the doors at the back.

Lower Mead, commit yourself to earplugs and sleep to the beat hotel.
Awful location, not sure why we always camp there. No one should, it's terrible.
Noise, no loos, miles from anywhere, no water. Nightmare.
This post was brought to you by campers of Lower mead who want to keep people away!

Stadiums are a nightmare, every time I say this is the last time I go to see a band in an echo chamber with bellends. Then another big tour rocks up for me to spend money on the worst way to watch a band.
I are a clown

Key difference to Reading/Download - you're camping inside the arena - so you can take all your booze/food with you. Makes a huge difference.
It'll be way older than Reading and about the same as Download in terms of age groups. Personally, I find the Download crowd friendlier than Glastonbury - but only just. You will be having a laugh with total strangers.
Drownload v. wet Glastonburied - about the same.
Camping - unless you're unlucky, it's way quieter than Reading and about the same as Download.
The site is effing huge - use Weds/Thurs to enjoy it since you'll be band chasing the other days. My favourite days are Weds/Thurs.
Missed out on tix this year, so hand them over you newbie!!!

Here's a way better solution.
Everyone is given 500 frozen peas, you have to throw them through a spinning bicycle wheel powered by chris hoy, if one gets through, you're have to pick up 80 random numbers and letters from a bucket arrange them into 6 rows, then throw 20 more peas through a slower wheel powered by your gran. If you get through, you pick one of 4 doors, get the right one and the tickets are yours.
Oh, wait, this is the current system.

if you get a booking page then that session is allocated to you for 10 minutes.
This is also relevant if you get through to payment and the payment page keeps failing - once it's dead, it's dead - no point in re-trying payment. At that point you're pretty much stuffed for the rest of the 10 minutes. Been unlucky twice at this point.
Key thing is if one of you is through, the rest don't give up on getting you in. Also as people have said, there will be a load of people unlucky, stuck in the 10minutes of hell that has locked them out - that's your 10 minutes to get in after the thing has sold out.

(sorry Rammstein,)
ahem, to the feuerzone with you.
I would really like to enjoy coldplay, I've tried, but for me it's the lyrics tinged with a bit of trying too hard. Not my thing, but I'll not waste my hate on them.

Scher's "the rapes were no worse than your average city" comment drew an audible "Fucking hell!!!" from Mrs J.
It is an absolute fucking hell and with a conviction rate next to zero. He wasn't wrong, that's the nightmare.

Just watched it and the thin veneer of civilisation proven correct.
Some of the comments on here are lovely and hopeful, but beware of the thickness of that veneer, it's way thinner than we can imagine.
It's wrong to blame individual groups/demographics etc - it's everyone.

Back in late 70s/early 80s, radio 1 djs would tour around and we used to have a local barn dance with one every year. I remember one of the girls "shagged" the dj, she was 16 at best. At the time we thought it was wrong. It has always been wrong, this "oh, it used to be accepted" is bollocks. It is and always has been wrong.
They knew it and the only difference now is that they can't so easily get away with it.
In a position of power sexually assaulting someone way younger than you. Bollocks to that. JP and all the others need to be called out.

I am 6ft 4. During Sam Fender a couple of about 60/65 walking through the crowd
Her - "He's tall go behind him"
Him - "Ok"
He then puts a box down & is about to do a shit in the middle of the Pyramid field. I turn around, he stands up, pulls kecks up & says "I cant do it, Ill go to the toilet"
A genuine WTF moment. They were in their 60s. Not as if it was a daft kid. Yeah, use me as a wall to shit behind.
Thanks
What fabulous logic, I'm laughing just thinking about why it was so important for you to be tall in order to shit behind you.
I'm getting a t-shirt with too short to shit behind.
