Has there ever been a HoC vote which had 100% for/against? I'm trying to find online but nothing seems to be coming up.

Not sure there would have been any point getting to the division lobby stage of the vote. Would just get passed by everyone shouting aye

  2. I am one of the selfish people who left London last night, and to be honest I feel pretty bad about having done it.

I live in a flat with my girlfriend who had planned all along to go back with her parents yesterday and they were on their way when the news broke. I then panicked and just said I'd go with her. In hindsight, we probably should have both told her parents to turn around. And if they were picking her up today or next week I would probably argue for us to stay put. But it happened so quickly yesterday and it was as bleak as news has been since march which scared us I think.

I am not proud of what we've done and feel guilty about any potential damage we have done. I also feel selfish as many people in similar situations will be abiding by the rules and staying put in small London flats instead of moving back to be with parents etc. But I want to enjoy Christmas and not feel guilty the whole time so hopefully I come to accept it.

I guess I just want to express that all those people who left London last night are to some some extent 'selfish' but these are special circumstances and we do have to have sympathy for everyone at this time. No-one is enjoying this and we all need support, not finger pointing

Labour are on such thin ice with the anti-semitism stuff as it is. RLB is fucking stupid for doing that and should know better. Momentum want to protect her because she is a last gasp of Corbynism, don’t be fooled that it’s for ANY other reason.

Absolutely agree, she is just foolish to retweet that given the constant furore over anti-Semitism sure JC's rein. Hope was to move on and become a much more considerate party in that regard, and now she's screwed that up she had to go

And why not. the first few beatles albums were in mono, anyone complain about those?

Haha I mean yea, ULTRA MONO but with the choice of stereo, and it's cheaper in stereo too!

Can't believe they didn't roll over! This club is surely big enough to bring some hope though 😁

I got a Marmite egg a couple of years ago. Couldn't finish one, never mind 200. And I love Marmite. And chocolate

A marmite egg?! Like you I like marmite, I like chocolate, but the two together is an atrocity

simple maths and logic says i'm not.

Whether you do 1000 tests of the living or 1,000,000 tests of the living (with positive or negative results), those tests have no influence on how many who are infected will die.  The test results of the dead are completely independent of those tests (both positive & negative) of the living.

Ahhhh .... we're going at this from different statistical angles.

There's the average of how many times you'll throw a dice and get six, and then there's the probability of throwing a six on the next roll if you threw 6 on the last roll.

Testing doesn't (much) change the death rate of those who are infected, it changes the numbers who get infected.

Ah well this very much depends on how your containment goes after you have done your massive amounts of testing. If you approach it as doing loads to testing. locating cases, and isolating the most vulnerable while trying to keep some normality for the rest of the population, then you could get more infections compared to shutting down the whole country, but a much lower death rate because the vulnerable are shielded from it.

Of course, this is an extreme example but you could change the death rate with increased testing as a death rate is impacted by a huge amount of factors and at the moment, we are in the 10s thousands of cases so small variations have a large impact on the figures.

and quite a lot of companies are "landlords" for loads of apartments or houses - the ensuing PR disaster from not abiding by it would be business suicide especially in this slowed down climate.

Yes there will be some who try to take advantage but hopefully minimal and it is on the government to make it clear / give somewhere for people affected to get in touch and report them.  In the typical Tory way they obviously haven't made every detail clear but I've got a bit of faith having seen what's come out of this press conference that they'll cover all bases even if they take a bit of a messy way there

Fingers crossed that's the case for all those who need it, going to be an incredibly emotions, heavy and complicated few months for the whole country, Glastonbury aside!

Mortgage holidays benefit the mortgage holder directly, only way of directly helping renters is with rent supplements. Expecting/hoping landlords step up is no guarantee (and different landlords are in different situations as well, they could need support too if they have no other income). Just gets too complicated. Go straight to the person you are trying to help and cut out the middleman.

Very true, it probably needs to go directly to the landlord to make it the most effective.

Landlords might be fucked too here. I know for a fact that landlords aren't all rich bastards, some of them rely in the income of renting a flat out as part of their monthly income which they need. Just getting in there before the inevitable....

Yes of course, they are not all greedy bastards, and there is not a simple solution to this. But they have ignored renters here, and many landlords are very well off and would be fine for a few months of at least reduced rent.

I agree to an extent but I imagine there'll be outrage if the landlords don't pass that mortgage holiday onto the renters. Hopefully enough to force a law. Those that own outright have to do the right think, which they won't obviously hence the hopeful outrage

This would be the best thing, but difficult position for renters who don't get that. People in a weaker financial position, living hand to mouth, would benefit massively from a legal position on that, and also council tax.

Shops are being emptied of all budget items and it's mainly more expensive alternatives left - poorer people are going to struggle so much without more central help.

Sticking my head above the parapet here ....

Only joined here last September, and it is genuinely one of the nicest places on the internet, and by quite some margin.

I can remember when I had just joined observing a few posters giving serious grief to @Matt42 and thinking to myself "wow that's all a bit uncalled for".  Then I thought to myself there must be more to it that I am not aware off,  and I am new here, so just kept out of it at the time.  Since then I have seen the same type of thing flare up on numerous other occasions, mainly always directed at @Matt42, and also nearly always started by the same few people, and also with the same few people then jumping on-board.  Like this latest nonsense this morning, it is usually completely uncalled for and not at all in the spirit of this forum, or Glastonbury for that matter.  I can tell the difference between bullying and banter, and I know what this is.

@Matt42 contributes a awful lot to this forum in my opinion and I for one enjoy his posts and opinions, regardless of whether I agree or not.

I would really hope I am not the only one who sees this behaviour for what it is, and would also hope that we could keep that sort of stuff away from here.

    Well said, have a like.

I do believe everyone on here is good natured and never wants to 'bully' someone. It is hard to get tone and intention down when typing so it can easily happen unintentionally. Just need to keep in mind how people might read things.

Definitely important not to stifle discussion as it makes forums like these what they are, but got to be careful and considerate ✌️

  13. How worried do you think we should be if we don't hear from team members for a while right up until resale date, maybe have a check in a week or 2 before to make sure everyone who signed up is still active and involved? If not, would it be a massive undertaking to remove some people and consolidate teams?
