Given they flew in to do 3 UK shows last year in the middle of the US tour, I’d expect them back at some point, they’re just always here. No idea where they fit anywhere festival-wise any more (Castlefield Bowl again + Other Stage, or a big End of the Road headliner are pretty much my guesses and neither seem right). I wonder if given there’s such a long promo cycle there might be some shows before release again. If not then yeah I’d expect a tour in the autumn – hopefully back to Apollo-sized venues.

Might have been covered but anyone know whether a stadium tour in Europe is likely, or whether they’ll stick to the festivals and arenas there? Given their patchy live reputation think I’d be more likely to make a weekend of seeing somewhere nice instead of paying loads for the Emirates.

The thing I don’t get is how much The National must be getting paid to come to the UK for one weekend in the middle of a US tour. i thought it seemed 20,000ish there, probably a few more. good atmosphere, no talkers, no queues. couldn’t complain, although the corporate stuff has stepped up big time. Could see them continuing with the indie days but shutting one of the other stages, or maybe even just doing like FR do in Finsbury Park and basically just one stage.

Perfume Genius, Fleet Foxes and The National were all outstanding tonight – shame the setlist was so similar to Primavera but no complaints from me and the new songs sounded a lot better. Definitely not a huge crowd but all seemed to be loving it where I was and had plenty of space right where Matt entered the crowd, so perfect for me

they suggested there’d be surprises in the NME interview but I’d be shocked if it’s not just Robin Pecknold joining them for something, but hopefully something else
-
seems the only show they hadn’t done Final Tickets for (until today) but at the same time it was busy in 2018 and they haven’t played in London much (if at all?) since so hoping for busy but far from packed
-
Would love to be wrong but if they’re not giving out freebies for Gorillaz when nobody can get there, don’t think they’d bother with the National. Won’t get mine until next week anyway but expecting about £50 on twickets, which is still £25 saved so won’t complain too much
-
As far as I know the freebies and cheap tickets before were all sold in the fortnight of, rather than last minute. I think your best bet would be to check Twickets and twitter on the night before or day of for people who have had dropouts. im sure there’ll be people in the queue trying to handout spares too, but you could be hanging around a bit for them

Last year there were two (i think) identical stages at each end of the site, so imagine that’s the layout that’s returning. then a bigish tent in between but definitely not the size for Kraftwerk
-
‘6 Winners will be randomly selected at the end of the Giveaway Period. Selected winners will receive one prize only.‘ so looks like just one per day, although wouldn’t be surprised if there’s suddenly runners-up standard tickets
-
It wasn’t as big as some VIP areas I don’t think but yeah, it was always pretty empty on the Foals and Jamie XX day. if I can get a cheap ticket and separate upgrade I’d be well tempted but not sure they offer it. It’s close to the VIP food and loos which everyone seems to think are decent so probably is worth doing for the right price
-
last year it was a case of looking at twickets the week of the event, but there were a few sell outs then so this year there’s probably going to be giveaways on top.
-
Just incredible to think he could have brought out almost big in 2015 Ratboy for this, one of the most bizarre samples
-
ok ticketmaster is doing their new made up ‘demand pricing’ and charging £207 a ticket .. so that makes it easier
-
really thought i’d skip the arena shows and rely on him playing leeds/primavera/somewhere i’ll go anywhere next summer but all of a sudden don’t know if i want to risk it
-
Yeah really surprised by the size of Lorde’s crowd compared to the size of Wolf Alice’s etc. feel like her critical opinion and that of people online has never tallied with actual sales or tickets, but Pyramid at this time seems a perfect setting for her.
-
Tempted by the Strokes - has anyone been and got the train back to Manchester? there’s only one after 11 so a big worried it’ll be rammed and stranded, safer to stay in Blackpool?
-
Based on past years, is there any chance of any merch showing up online? For some reason I thought it only made sense to look on the last day, fancied a t shirt and then obviously were all gone.
-
Just got back today and was going to post this anyway but my tip for avoiding crowds or queues is to detour to the Sona bit. Only originally went to use it as a shortcut but thought it was a nice spot to escape the big stages, although it was so weird you had to walk through the dark to get there from the main stages - know it’s a massive area but some parts seem completely forgotten about? Still, I had a great time (especially with National, Tyler and Nick Cave) but would probably only return with the right line-up rather than a yearly event.

That National show was as close to perfect as I’ve seen from them, properly magic from where I was. Much better day, fair play to the organisers they’ve completely turned it around imo
-
The organisers said this week that it was the landowners who said the festival couldn’t use it as normal. Still, could have put some bigger names there to persuade people to go. Was very quiet when I went for a look (and all you could hear in spots was Weyes Blood from Binanace, which wasn’t ideal)
-
not clarifying whether they’re aiming for 95k or that’s just the hypothetical top capacity feels like they’ve just added to their messaging problem
-
Not really drinking and not aiming for the front pit much so my experience is probably not as bad as others (and my first time so nothing to compare with), it just felt uncomfortably busy rather than outright unsafe but yeah the water is going to become more of an issue if there are any warmer evenings. I thought SVE was great, only really ever plays the new album which is what it is but more impressed than when I’ve seen her previously. Tame Impala the opposite but fun enough, and Pavement were decent (probably my own lack of familiarity). Think it’s a blessing in disguise The Strokes have cancelled and Caribou have switched stages, can’t see the National having a massive crowd just because they’ve played so often which might spread people about

Looking forward to getting run over by one of these and getting my ticket to PS2023 paid for

Will only include a spoiler below the link, although her name hasn’t come up too much so far, but Sharon Van Etten played the first night of her tour last night and it was a bigger career mix than I expected https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/sharon-van-etten/2022/aula-magna-lisbon-portugal-43b4979f.html (spoiler: i really hope Tarifa makes a return though - it’s got to in Spain, surely)
