  3. we have 3 10's a 9 and an 8... always baffled me
  4. Just noticed that Gaz Coombes is announcing UK dates for April in some bigger venues... This years show was superb.. I hope it works well for him, he really deserves it. One of our better singer/songwriters in MHO I will be in Hammersmith for sure.
  5. Siouxsie Idles October Drift Breeders Texas
  6. granted I dont have a ton of experience as I have never volunteered... but i have stayed in the CV fields over 10 times... Immediate experience with it was when my wife and daughter drove the car up on the Wednesday as they couldnt come with us on the Tuesday... They had to show Festival tickets to get access to the Car Park and then had to show them again to get from CP to CV East... Last year I helped a lady in the CV fields get moved as her neighbours were obnoxious... The fella on the gate between CP and CVE was at pains to let us know that he could not leave his post in case anyone tried to get in the gate... and he directed us to the (named) Lead Steward and his wife (Deputy) who were proper switched on... EVERY time i have gone through the gates at PGC (probably 50+ times) I have had to show my ticket and more often than not am asked to remove hat & sunglasses... Your 'old hippy woman sitting on a chair waving' isnt a fair reflection..
  7. I've certainly seen large groups (up to 20) of youngsters wandering around the CV fields before.. What has always surprised me is that 1. You have to get into the car parks (assume you need at least a car park ticket for that?) 2. You have to get from the car-parks to the CV fields (they are all manned gates) and that is before the even trickier 3. Getting from CV fields into the festival... That being said it would need thousands to get in to make the festival feel over busy surely...?
  8. Hey... nothing sweeter than a cider induced short nap in the Sunday afternoon sunshine..!
  9. That is a pretty good setlist tbf... (never really considered him before) My friend would have to sit in her CV with headphones on until it was all finished though... Musical artichoke and all that!

    Avalon

Yeah, I dropped in there on Thursday afternoon trying to get some respite from the sun and it was mobbed.... Then returned on Saturday night to see Vintage Trouble and the tent was half empty.. (Mel C was on before and I saw the last couple of her set from the Avalon Inn on the big screen they have on the outside of the tent!! The field is basically now just a large tent and a bar.. to your point a little charmless compared to what it used to be... If they are going to keep that set-up (I wasnt there in 2022 so dont know what it was then) then they will have to find some big acts to play in there.. Anyone know what the new capacity is vs the old.?
  11. to quote @Superscallyand his snappy catchphrase - SINAB BANSI INABS...
  12. my boat is a broad ship... room enough for cheese and musicianship alike.. and certainly room enough for artists that i may never have another chance to see...
  13. whilst I am most definitely in the Annie Lennox or Stevie Nicks camp... either would smash it..! I watched some of the BBC's Joan Armatrading coverage last night and if they want to continue with the legend being about more musicianship than cheese they could do a lot worse... terrific watching. tbf, neither AL or SN offer much cheese
  14. I think Tuesday is a bit of immersing action.... Getting set-up (possibly with friends/family that you have met on the way down), cracking the first beers, meeting the neighbours, a nice bit of dinner, sitting of the HoD for a view of the site... I love Tuesday in the CV fields.!
  15. don't you turn up on the Tuesday.? Prime day for sitting around the van eating and drinking with family & friends.. Then once most of the masses have gained entry on Wednesday head down in the afternoon for a mooch / efests meet-up.? Surely you must have a bacon sarnie for breakfast at some point??
  16. I'm with @gazzaredhere... you leave in the morning and thats you out for the day.. Granted you have the benefit of making your own breakfast in the morning and we normally have a chilli on Tuesday evening and a BBQ on Wednesday lunchtime before heading down late afternoon / early evening..
  17. an excellent post indeed.. I have been attending since 2007 (aged 48) and have only stayed in CVE If there were no CV fields it would have a big change on demographic... I would suggest the majority of CV'ers are 40+ and quite a number 60+ like myself.. I dont think it would change the demographic of SE Corner / Late night venues per se though, more the main stages where the music can be more mainstream.. What would change is the festivals economic model... the CV crowd are less likely to carry their own beer and food around the site and so bars and food vendors would take a hit. (I assume this is true for the pre-erected crowd too?)
  18. I would love to see them headline Woodsies myself.. Partly because the Other is my least favourite stage but I also think they are a band that like to connect with their audience and Woodsies feels better suited to that
  19. Whenever they were executed it was a genius and classy connection to the songs.. Typical of what they do. I hope the hip action was and continues to be a success…. (I am awaiting the first knee replacement)
  20. I was figuring that they would do prints of the drawings on future merch… my daughter would certainly love a couple of them
  21. Been changed to ‘unknown’… 👀
  22. The excitement of watching Setlist update in real time for tonight’s show….!! 24 tracks in and they are all different! they are only going to do it 😳 25! 26!
