No cash support and no guaranteed ticket... and they only AIM to cover the cost of all materials and expenses... So there's a chance you could actually end up out of pocket and essentially just gifting your work to Shangri-la?
f**k that man. Like I get Glastonbury is the culmination of many artists pulling together to deliver something phenomenal, and that budgets are tight across the entire festival... but yikes. Artists should at least get some fair compensation for their work if they don't even get to see their work in situ.This.
So, despite the pretentious blurb, creatives are expected to work for free in exchange for 'exposure'?
Well, exposure don't pay the bills.
Many people are getting rich off the back of the festival and artists/ creatives should be paid/ rewarded like anyone else.

I would sooner have them cut costs than pass the book onto the punter. The fees for the acts that are flavour of the month on radio1 must be higher than that paid for the kinds of acts who are coming through, playing medium sized venues. Just tilt the balance back in favour of the latter.
Totally agree with this.
A lot of the people saying £330 is value for money cite the cost of seeing big commercial acts which are charging £100's of pounds to their gigs as way of justification. Fair enough if you are the type that pays these kinds of fees and enjoys these kinds of acts. Less so if you aren't at all interested in seeing Spice Girls/ Guns'n'Roses/ Taylot Swift/ etc.

Been going since 1992.
I won't be going at this price.

Tried to drop off a kids buggy at the lock ups nearest the kids camping on the Friday and they had no room.
Apparently this was the first time this had ever happened at the lock ups.
Because kids are free, I wonder if they are accounted for in the official attendance?

I think it’s more Hope than expectation. Spice Girls really would mark the final transition to “Basic Fest”. You might as well add a Nando’s stall and somewhere to collect H&M orders. Perhaps screen the latest Top Gear in the Pilton Palais…
Sorry to shatter your hopes, but I've heard of people being approached to assist with a Spice Girls set at Glastonbury.
Personally, I think Gary Numan is the man for job.

I'm actually worried now. It is very close to what the glade lounge did look like. It had that structure but it's odd there nothing in the actually trees apart from a dot.
Also didn't someone say there was a rumour they were getting rid of glade stage?!
This would be a fucking catastrophe.
I spend a very large percentage of every festival at Glade/ Spike Bar/ Gully, and so do a lot of the large group I go with.
Gully RIP, you will be missed - I really liked the music and the setting...post 2017 (?), not a big fan of the relocation of the JP stage...it makes that area seem too isolated from the rest of the festival.
Hope Glade is as good as it has ever been. 🤞

Not on the first poster, but W.H. Lung have confirmed they'll be there.

All hail Ed Sheeran.
The new middle-of-the-road celeb-musician that unecessarily pops up absolutely fucking everywhere for no reason.

Queues for the dealers at the Pyramid.
Spontaneous litter picks in the crowd before an act started.

I was thinking I hadn't discovered anyone from the poster drop on Friday but Sampa is someone I hadn't listened to before she was on the 2020 poster so that technically counts.
Hoping I can manage to see her. If she brings this sort of energy, she'll steal the weekend.
Liking it mucho!

The worst thing in the world is finding a band you love and then realising you've missed them at Glastonbury when you could have seen them. Painful stuff. Probably worthy of another thread in itself.

Slowdive would be ace!
This sounds like a pretty promising hint from their website:
"It’s been over three years since we last played a show and with a few festival appearances lined up we’ve decided what better way to kick things off than keep it reasonably near the South West with a show at the lovely Komedia in Bath on May 18th." -

A few weeks ago Anton Newcombe replied "not that I know of" to a tweet asking if BJM we're at the G. That was before they announced their first European date a few days ago. Fingers crossed for one of my favourite bands. The John Peel slot they got in 2014 wasn't the best, a smaller tent a little later would suit more. Probably too early for Pond to return.
A two hour slot at the Park would be top. They were immense on their last UK tour.

Some of these festivals must know they are unlikely to go ahead, so why are they pushing tickets?
Assumption is that this is to secure funding for next year when people roll over?
Maybe they will only get insurance payouts if they show they have taken every step possible to put the event on?

Music, in all forms, is overrated and is a waste of everybodys time.
Only weirdos like music.

Apologies if posted before, but Russia has offered the EU 100m doses of Sputnik V.
Haven't seen this reported in any of our papers.
Side note: Sputnik is surely the coolest name for a vaccine out there. AstraZeneca need to up their game on their vaccine branding - call it 'Apollo' or 'Panacea', or something.
"Yeah mate, I've just had my hit of Apollo - rocking man." etc

They were great weren't they! Another band I missed at Glasto and now regret.
I'm having trouble finding the schedule for the rest of the night, can anyone post one up (pretty please).

Sadly agree. Apart from West Holts, the stages lack personality and decent curation.
Too many are acts rebooked, too many beige Radio 2 acts and some baffling site changes.
Williams Green is a massive miss.
