I’ve been to Russia several times. Moscow is beautiful.
-
No you didn’t misinterpret me. I think ALL Russians should be not booked. That is what cultural sanctions mean. And to a country like Russia - which has a huge cultural heritage - it will, and should, hurt. I don’t dislike Russians. I just think that this is a useful tool in the sanctions toolbox and should be used.

I’m pro- British, anti most of what Britain does. That’s pretty normal everywhere I reckon. Don’t get your point.
-
Now is not the time to ‘convert’ Nina kraviz. She finds herself on the wrong side of the debate and that should be recognised by the organisers. I’m no troll.

One of the world superpowers is killing the citizens of its sovereign European neighbours. How can anyone be ‘neutral’ about that?
-
Mate, apologies for the fuck you. But…. looking for reasons to book someone who clearly shouldn’t be there for reasons one and two and possibly three is baffling to me. Festival goers standard ng up and telling her to just do one would be brilliant.

Hitler could have sold his watercolours in the craft fields and he’d have buzzed on the vegetarian offers on hand. Think of how he might have turned out if he’d come to Glastonbury.

I don’t need platitudes from Putin apologists.
-
My comment was neither xenophobic nor emotionally charged. Denying high profile Russian artists a platform (especially those with an ambiguous - at best - view of Putin) is an important part of the sanction approach. That is both rational and in line with the general support of the Ukraine people.
-
False equivalents. Just what the Ukrainians need. And yes I do understand that South Africa was not an equivalent in war terms; my point was about cultural and sporting sanctions, which did have an impact.
-
Worked for South Africa. It is part of a full sanctions programme which impacts in its entirety.
-
It’s pretty much the most common viewpoint held worldwide. The planet is doing everything it can to isolate Russia, including the ‘cancellation’ of high profile artists. Try getting a ticket for a Russian ballet. I find some views on here very strange.
-
Ask a Ukrainian in a non-comfy armchair if Glastonbury should be booking Russia’s highest profile musician; see what they say.
-
Silence and inactivity isn’t permitted though. She’s not the victim, the people of Ukraine are. Literally everything that gives Russia and Russians any positive profile has no place in any cultural environment at the moment.
-
The defending of her booking is worse than the booking itself. It is crass.
-
Maybe. But she has expressed pro Putin views in the past, didn’t speak out about Crimea and absolutely should not be playing at Glastonbury this year.
-
Hardly ‘irrelevant’ though surely?
-
She didn’t say ‘Fuck Putin’ which might have been better. She has hardly slammed the invasion and as a high profile artist she has an opportunity to reflect the true Russian opinion. Unfortunately she does: very much a nationalist.
-
Nina Kraviz…? Anybody else genuinely uncomfortable about that? She has hardly been Pussy Riot these past ten years.
-
Any sign of the (admittedly batshit crazy) story I heard of a ‘bridge’ being built from Worthy View into the site?
