  1. These stories are too good to be kept to a forum.

I'm in the process of creating an eBook of festival stories found across the web, and put them all in one place. No names, just the funny stories. If you don't want me to use yours, please let me know. But please do, they're ace.

  2. These are all amazing. Can't believe it's taken me so long to find them.

My mate lost his phone and tried to call it the next day without expecting anyone to answer it. He assumed it would have run out of battery anyway. To his surprise a guy answered, and they arranged where to meet so he could get it back. On the way to the collection point my mate decided that he’d give this random good Samaritan £1 for every percent of charge the phone had left on it. He arrived and handed over a fully charged phone to my mate, who promptly handed over £100. Only at Glastonbury would someone find a phone and fully charge it before returning it to the rightful owner.

  3. I agree if bands don't have the material, then they should be on for 45mins or so. It's more of an issue for me when watching a DJ as a single hour doesn't allow them to really do what they would do in a smaller venue. Especially if the music then stops to get the next DJ on.

  4. Going through the lineup I'm always slightly annoyed that well established bands and DJs only play for an hour. Personally, I would love another half an hour added to those, with the headliners getting two hours. It's great to have so many acts at Glastonbury, but with the size of the place, it can sometimes be a trek to see someone for just 60 minutes.

    Quality or quantity?

  5. Also saw him last year. Amazing set. More recently, last Sunday, I stepped out my front door only for him to walk by me and into my local pub across the road. In that moment all I could think of to say was "alright mate" to which he replied the same.

Wish I saw this post beforehand.

  6. It always amazes me that I can't find a poster for every Glastonbury Festival that I've attended. Last year I took a mate and bought him the poster so he could reminisce. It's now framed in his room. It made me wonder why there isn't a poster per year, in a consistent format but with designs/typography that reflects that time.

Personally, I'd love to have one for each I've been to and then frame them all. Even better if they were printed using the Heidelberg press.

  7. 1 hour ago, Northern Soul said:

The only final thing I'll add is "THE HILL" up and down to the entrance gate at Pennards. It is steep.....!!

A load of us stayed in a campervan last year and so we had to do the Hill Of Death over that way. Is it anything like that? Worse?

  8. Although I've been to Glastonbury a number of times, I've never stayed in the pre-erected tents of Worthy View. So I'm opening it up for anyone who can provide some advice.

From the basics to the more detailed - go nuts!

    Thanks ;)

  9. Agreed with above.

Just to add, should you lose either your wristband, pass ticket or your festival ticket, you'll be waiting a long time to get a replacement. Keep them all safe.

It gets very busy entering and leaving the festival site at certain times due to each person having their wristband checked, ticket checked and your face matched against it and passout ticket taken/given.

    It's a shame there isn't another method.

  10. It's a ticket question, but not as you know it.

One of our friends has sadly had operation and will miss Glastonbury this year. She has her ticket already, paid in full with Refund Protection on it. She will soon be returning that ticket with proof from the doctor/hospital to get a refund.

At the same time, one of our other friends has just been left by her husband, and she's now left with the three kids. We have been trying to find something to give her a lift, and wondered if we would be able to re-buy the ticket that our other friend will be returning.

So, when See Tickets say 'no refunds' there actually will be.

When they say 'no transfers' it won't be. Because it will be buying that ticket again. Not transferring it to another person. We are happy to pay full price again for the ticket as a surprise.

Does anyone have any guidance on this? Has anyone re-bought a ticket that had been returned with Refund Protection on?

    Thank you.

  11. I suspect the line up isn't announced as a number of acts are also on tour at the same time. If you knew that an act was going to be at Glastonbury and you were going, would you also pay to go and see them in tour as well?

The full line up will be announced by Glastonbury Festival in April 2016, and this will give you the acts on the main stages. Some of the areas will announce their own at different times. For example, Shangri-La, The Glade and Silver Hayes all did theirs in May last year.

This is always a good site to keep tabs on. They add acts as and when they announce themselves. It changes often in the early months, but it keeps the excitement building.

  12. Overheard a spaced out guy with a west country accent on the Other Stage saying in a rather confused voice, "This isn't Oasis."
We were five tracks into Orbital's set. Oasis had already played two days earlier on the Pyramid Stage.

Two guys on a metal path with their arms out wide and a sign above them saying Accidental Touching. People had to walk the path due to the mud, so each time someone brushed by their hands, they apologised to them.

In the dance village years ago, there was a small woman who sat under the speaker. She would scurry out and touch people's legs before back to the security of her 'home.'

  13. Essentials before arriving

    Take wet wipes.
Take more socks than you need in case it rains. You can swap them out.
Walking boots or wellies. Never minded either but important to take one of them.
    Bin bags
Something to identify your tent over all the other green or blue ones.
Rain coat and layers to keep you warm or remove if you're too hot

    Essentials onsite

Spend Wednesday walking the site. Find out where everything is (it'll be harder at 10pm on a Friday night!)
Have a cider at the Cider Bus Bar run by a local family (and see them on Sunday night partying harder than you!)
Go an see the Arcadia Spectacular Show, even if you don't like dance music
Thursday night at The Glade if you do like dance music.
Go easy. There's loads to do and lots of walking. Don't ruin yourself early doors.
Get cash out of the machine either early morning or late night. Queues can be huge otherwise.
The curry bus in the walk from the Pyramid to the Other Stage has the best food you'll taste on a Sunday.
Share stuff. A ciggy, some drink, your time - whatever. It's the Glastonbury spirit.
Walk up to the Glastonbury sign. Sit. Chill and watch Glastonbury in action.
Pick a couple of things you want to see each day and then go with the flow at other times

  14. Thanks for the advice TommyOrse. I just called up See Tickets and they said they sold out over the weekend, but they have some returned. They had two tickets about 15 minutes ago, but I managed to get one. One up for grabs.

If you can't get through on the 0115 number, call 0871 220 0260 (10p a minute though) and ask for the Glastonbury department.

  15. The site is open for campervans from midday on the Tuesday. 5 hours before the game starts.

Bit of a shame that an event that happens every fours year can't be shown somewhere. Especially as it doesn't clash with anything.

I have a feeling that it will be shown somewhere on the site.

  16. Hi all.

I've been trying to find out the answer to this question without luck. Does anyone know or direct me to the answer?!

On Tuesday 24th June, England will be playing Costa Rica in the last group game. I know it has already been announced that the matches after this game will not be shown, but what about the Costa Rica game? Is this going to be shown on a screen?

People travelling by campervan are able to turn up from midday on Tuesday 24th June.
