I'm a fan of hers but this left me underwhelmed.

Does nothing interesting or unusual with the double album format, a lot of the 31 tracks are same-same, Antonoff's production is pretty formulaic and predictable at this point. Probably her most cohesive work yet, but there aren't a lot of highs – very few standouts on first listen which is unusual for a Taylor Swift album.

As is almost always the case with double albums these days, if you'd pulled the best bits from both 'sides', this could have been a great album.

Ah man. I've been apprehensive about this one and I'm saving it for an evening where I can really delve into it with the earphones. Your comment is identical to two of my mates who love Swift. I'll still give it a whirl obviously, but I'll probably end up blasting Lover straight after it to recalibrate.

  2. What's Ariana up to, new album on the cards? Couple of years ago I'd have laughed at the prospect, but anything goes now after SZA. Ariana would put a superb show on! Some mega catchy tunes, incredible voice, beautiful, and seems like a good person who'd get the vibe! Get her on the farm! I'd be the only one of my mates there but that's become par for the course now, and they're amazed when I get excited at the prospect of seeing the likes of Sigrid, Lorde and other awesome female solo artists who've played GF recently.

Calvin Harris on John Peel in 2007.

Who’d have thought he’d become one of the top 10 richest DJ’s in the world? 🤯

I saw he'd got in an online altercation recently when someone slated one of his sets, and he bit back. I felt bad for him, cos let's be honest, fair f**ks, he's huge and has appeased the masses.

    CACK though isn't he? Christ.

Talking of which, here's Craig David.

I've not once fact-checked this yet, but you mentioning that Craig David set at Glasto - I was convinced at the end of it he'd played one if his tunes twice... I was adamant.

For what it's worth, he was cracking fun and it was a good placement on that nice sunny evening before RTJ, who were fantastic!

No, they're funny. In the same way that Spinal Tap is/are funny.

big bottom is an absolute banger tbf, Sleaford Mods wont ever be able to get within a hundred miles of such a tune. Didnt Spinal Tap play early on the pyramid one year? That needs to happen again!

Because they have the audacity to be white men over 50 playing guitars, or because you don't like them personally?

  6. How long after the balance payment do we normally hear about the resale date, any idea?

(Edit: I know it'll be Sunday 21st, 'cos that's the only Sunday out of the entirety of 2024 that I have to work. Some serious blagging will be taking place that morning)

I tried to book our flights over using my NZ account and it kept failing on the authenticator, so i switched to trying from my UK account, had to authenticate it on the App, but it worked no problem at all and it was for 4 tickets in business class, so not a small amount of money at all. In the end it looks like its mostly down to the bank, ASB does see seem to be risk averse, difficult to spend your own money with them sometimes, maybe just worth checking with your bank in advance if you don't have other options if your first try fails.

That's a great shout, no harm me contacting my bank and seeking clarity. Appreciate that.

Depending on how and where your debit card has been used the purchase could be blocked by a location security conflict. Put simply, if the card is being used in the UK then suddenly switches to a foreign location bank security could question or veto the transaction, especially if the sum involved is considerable. This happened to me when I travelled to South Africa a couple of years ago.

Thanks for this. Surely I'd just get an "authenticator" notification and have to approve it through my banking app?

Pretty sure it's credit card, might depend on your country/which card etc. Anyway is has to at least be Mastercard or Visa, a maestro type thing won't work.

I find it interesting that I had to pay the same postage fee than a UK person... And no choice to have it sent paying or just box office and maybe without the fee. Anyway, all done and paid 😄

We're trying for resale. One of our group of 4 is in Australia, and the rest are in the UK. If I give him my debit card details to pay (if he gets through), would there be any issues with that, to your knowledge?

Easy for you to say. Do you live in latin america? You know they dont get gigs every damn day like you do? Might be the only thing they can go to or even afford for an entire year. Remember how spoiled you are in this regard.

Astonishing, the level of confidence in which you spout so much bollox.

Not even their best jam either.

Absolutely love them. So many class tracks. There's some brilliant live versions of Too Lost In You and About You Know on Tube. I'll be all over these when I get a ticket 😕 West Holts too...come onnnn 😞

The shittest and most uninspired single night of headliners I can remember at the festival. I’m even a fan of Jessie, but she literally headlined a stage two years ago and I’ve seen her countless times already. First time I’ve ever been left with no option I’m even a tiny bit interested in seeing.

I feel the same about Sunday. Probably would be able to settle on one of them, but none of them "wow" me.

I wouldn't mind the Saturday night being the one where I just explore and do something totally different to seeing a headliner act, but to close out the festival on Sunday like that would be disappointing.

Considering their secret set in 2017, headlining in 2019,and Brandon appearance last year, I'd be amazed if they do a secret set this year.

    Yeh. It isn't happening.

Hopefully seeing Orbital and London Grammar for my first Park headliner

Same here for Orbital. Is the consensus that they're actually headlining the Saturday now then, as opposed to playing before Grammar (which I read on here yesterday)?

I've seen a load of Park acts, but annoyed with myself for never seeing a headliner, in 7 Glasto's.

I was so gutted not to see Flaming Lips in 2017 but not much on earth would have stopped me seeing that Radiohead gig.

  15. Christ that's f**king utterly woeful for Glasto standards, especially Pyramid. Jesus.

As someone without a ticket, I will still 10000% be trying and praying. Plenty on there I'd want to see and explore, but yeh, let's not pretend that's not one of the worst line ups in decades.

  16. Hi! Thought I'd ask the following question here rather than starting a new thread.

*Please Help!* does anyone have a download for Bowie's 2000 headliner set? I found it in 2020, my mate then downloaded it to his Drive (my laptop was shite), he's recently cleared his Drive, forgetting that he was the original holder of the file. It's deleted it for all of us. A group of us get together often and watch it on the projector. I'm gutted it's gone.

If anyone knows where I might be able to get it, please let me know. Really appreciate it. FYI it was the full set in HD.

first poster most likely ... too early to panic yet

Thought so. Someone else who was there put "full line up". That woulda been crazy. I'm not gonna be opening Clash Finder without a ticket 😢

In fairness with the whole "not being in tune with pop culture thing", pop culture is arguably at its most fragmented than ever.

It seems far easier to miss big music hits more than ever these days, particularly with everyone's social media algorithms catering for their interests, and the limitless music options on streaming replacing radio.

I quite like SZA's music and 'Good Days' was one of my most played songs a few years ago, but I don't think I've ever heard it in a public setting before or see anyone discuss her much online.

    Spot on.

I'd heard of her, and realised now I've gone on Spotify that I knew 2-3 tracks, but (if the rumours are true) this will be the first Glasto headliner that the vast majority of our group won't have heard of. Maybe we are just old 🙂 but there's certainly truth in Odyssey's assessment.

I'd certainly not begrudge it, I think it's brilliant that a young artist is, once again, being given the Pyramid as a platform to showcase their work. If Glasto think it's the right booking, who are the old farts to argue their worth?

I also don't want 3 of my favourite acts ever to headline the Pyramid 3 nights on the bounce!

Not weird at all. They're shite. I don't understand why people can't grasp this reality. One half of them didn't even bother showing up for half their set, probably too busy trying to find the back up USB.

I'd never seen them before that set in 2022, knew their popular hits.

It was one of the best gigs I've ever been to.

Reality was firmly grasped that night with our group of 30 and the other 10's of 1000's who absolutely loved it.
