I hear ya, next day highlights for me
-
You would be very surprised. It's arguably the biggest sporting attraction in the world, the publicity it gets is second to none. Yes, Glastonbury don't exactly need exposure but using the Superbowl as an additional springboard to hype an act/get more eyes on it - I'd still be utilising it if I was in their shoes.
-
Has he played any of the other big hitters before, R&L/IOW?
-
Sure it's been discussed already but if he's performing at the Superbowl and Emily said (I think) we'll have a headliner before the end of this month - they announce him off the back of that performance if he is playing, surely?
-
What's the latest with Kendrick? Feel like I've lost touch with all the McCartney/Styles discussions
-
Tend to agree, but something doesn't add up. Styles only been available on the Saturday is the problem. Maybe Styles headliners the Other Stage... I'll get my coat.
-
It's not even the fact that he'd be headlining that would upset me, it's losing McCartney. There's been countless headliners who I have no interest in since I started going 11 years ago. Never bothers me because it's Glastonbury and there's always something on offer elsewhere that is good. If the lad's selling out stadiums, then I guess... why shouldn't he be a headliner? Losing McCartney, though, would be SUCH a kick in the balls. The whole moment of him headlining the Pyramid, even more so after three years off, would be like nothing before for me. To have that ripped away would be devastating.
-
Not his first (I was at that), but one of - first was May that year, from memory. It was technically a 'surprise' as well, even though everyone knew. Crowd was massive
-
This did cross my mind, could he sub; with a view to being pushed up if someone drops out? Only some of the articles released pitched him as headliner, some didn't reference that. Granted - I know absolutely nothing about him (had to go on his Wikipedia to find out he used to be in One Direction, genuinely) and I'm trying to clutch at McCartney straws.
-
Same, clinging on as long as I can. Started telling myself earlier that Glastonbury's 'Love' post was for both Styles and McCartney, with Kendrick dropping out. That's based on nothing other than sheer hope.
-
The Noel article is an interesting one, especially given it specifically states the Pyramid. He's a completely different person to what he once was (you'd hope so at his age). It's become popular to dislike him as Liam is now the 'man of the people', all very baffling to me - but that's a discussion for another day. He cited Kanye as a big influence on his last album, rewind the clock and he wouldn't have even mentioned his name in a sentence, let alone cite him as an influence. Harry Styles, though? I just don't see it personally. He's also a punter there every year, so I'm not sure he'd just be subbing anyone. Worth noting he absolutely loves The Strokes (I jest. As much as I'd love it, The Strokes aren't headlining Glastonbury). Let's hope he's still subbing Paul 🙂

Waiting on that webcam reappearing now, just in time for the 40 foot yellow submarine hanging off the Pyramid (I'll keep clutching)
-
Just tuned in, do we have a time yet?
-
I absolutely love The Strokes, but I'd be amazed to see them headline the Pyramid now. They're headlining a festival in Lytham...
-
Are Arctic Monkeys down as an exclusive for R&L?
-
Was there not bits of reliable info on here a matter of weeks ago that suggested McCartnery & Kendrick? Struggling to understand what would change McCartney's mind so late in the day.
-
So fucking gutting this, genuinely destined to never see McCartney. Something ALWAYS gets in the way
-
I actually don't think that'll be too far off the mark. Maybe just to confirm that everything is going ahead, and a poster/announcement date to keep people happy
-
Sat here waiting for someone to pull through with reliable info that McCartney is still headlining...
-
FFS. You're right as well, this could be a dark day
-
Granted I'm just looking for confirmation bias, because I'll be absolutely gutted if McCartney doesn't do it, but why would he drop out at this point? Surely one of his last, if not the last, opportunity to do it again? There's also the Noel G factor. Granted, 2022 Noel is slightly different to the man of the past but is he subbing Harry Styles... really? Strikes me as someone who would agree to support an act he's massively into. Oh I don't know, my head's battered.
-
No no no, please God no. Don't take away McCartney as we approach the home stretch, I've had my fingers crossed and been praying since the first cancellation
-
So... is this the McCartney week? 😁
-
Did we get any reliable info on days/stages for the 2020 line-up, off the back of the poster? Can't remember
-
Ah man, I'm so f*cking giddy. It's gonna be such a moment 😁
