I looked at one of the maps posted on here previously, it looks like A1 is pretty close (the closest?) campsite to the arena, does anyone know roughly how long it takes minute-wise?

A1 is the closest one to the festival site. 5 minute walk MAX. However - it opens thursday morning !

  2. As much I don't like festivals in my country (Poland), I must admit - AlterArt managed to deal with headliner crisis perfectly. Sam Smith cancelled - 48/72h later - bang - 30 Seconds to Marsa are coming. And for a gig that's happening this weekend.

Hope you'll get a splendid replacement, I only regret it didn't happen earlier. Stromae was one of the main reasons no one from my crew wanted to travel this year

Hello here in the forum, normaly we went to Sziget - but this year the lineup is too bad.

So we want to go to Werchter this year.

    I have some questions:

    1. Are there festival busses from the festival to Leuven and/or Aarschot?
    2. Are there trains in the night after midnight between Leuven/Aarschot to Brussels or other directions?
    3. Do we have to pay for the public transports? Or is that included in the festivalticket?
    4. Or does anybody has a more detailed infosite? I did not find much on the festivalsite.

    Thanks from my side!!!

    Tom

    1. Yes

    2. No ( and to be honest if you'd like to see the whole headliner set you'd be at Leuven/Aarschot train station around 1:40 AM at the earliest. 2 AM is more accurate. The trains start around 4 AM from what I remember

    3. One ride to Leuven/Aarschot by train and one travel FROM Leuven/Aarschot is for free. They give the link to Belgian Rail early June. You STILL have to pay the Diabolo Fee to & from Zaventem Airport (5,5 euro last summer)

    4. If there's no detailed info they'll give it soon. Theis festival is very well organised and they DO inform about everything necessary.

Hi all. Just bought my camping tickets for A1. Is there a mad dash at 8am to get in or can I come at Middayish and still find a decent spot?

Showed up there around 10/11 am several times and always found a good spot.

Will be 1st time going this year.

Just two quick questions.....is the lidl/aldi a car walk from the festival to stock up.

And does the festival curfue at midnight or does it go on until early morning?

    1. No. You gotta go by bus to Leuven/Aarschot

    2. Main stage ends ad 1 am and that's it at the festival site. You can blow off some steam at The Hive

For me 2009 was the best with Oasis, Placebo, Prodigy, Lady Gaga, Coldplay, The Killers, Bloc Party, Elbow, Kings of Leon, Nick Cave, Franz Ferdinand, Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, Röyksopp and Mars Volta.

Oh yeah, that was a party of a lifetime. And we had ONLY 2 stages back then 😄

That’s underwhelming to say the least.

For someone coming from the UK that Thursday is huge though. The 1975 into Sam Fender into Stormzy!

True. That's a Leeds/Reading festivalgoer dreams come true.

For me that's THE WORST Werchter line-up in years. And there was still Billie Eilish in the round to make it worse for me...

I'm sure it WILL BE a blast but no one from my friends is interested in going so....let's pray for 2024 !!  (and I'm hoping it WON'T happen 04-07.2024 as I have 2 Metallica gigs planned for that weekend already :P)

But, really, is there any precedent from the last decade or so when a pop artist like the weeknd headlined RW? I even doubted Pink was a reasonable fit at the time

P!nk blew my mind back in 2013, the show was WAY better than Rammstein (and I'm a R+ fan).

However I think Stromae is enough in terms of non-rock headliners. But that's just my opinion.

    Stromae / Kendrick Lamar / The 1975

Arctic Monkeys / Blur / Pulp

Muse / Queens Of The Stone Age / Bring Me The Horizon

My Chemical Romance + Panic! At The Disco (co-head)/ Machine Gun Kelly

Let's not go down this road again, it was stated here multiple times MCR are NOT a headline material in Belgium

  10. Gn'R - they play too long to fit in RW scheme (the last time they gave an artist 3 hours was 2014 - Pearl Jam - and they wasted 30 precious minutes of that time)

George Ezra is a Main Stage artist, that's for sure

My Chemical Romance will NEVER sub/headline Werchter - @Ken19 (where are You, btw?) stated this precicely more than once on this board)

Ghost serve perfect pop&metal balance - they're VERY big and NO WAY they'll play 4th down. Graspop is the place for them

Arctic Monkeys - destined to show up. New songs are just like the last ones - utterly boring, arena sized material for fans only

QOTSA, Pulp & Halsey - YES please

I remembered a few years ago when they announced in one week one headliner per day and then a few names on the Friday. Or sometimes, announced 2 headliners and a bunch of names in the same week. Would love to see them doing this again this year!

It might have been 2010 edition, I am sure they announced headliners early December back then

  12. The capacity is as it was in previous years.

They open the gates exactly the same time as in previous years.

We land in Brussels at 08:30 Thursday so we're hoping we can get to Leuven, grab some supplies, get to the festival, dump everything in the pre-pitched tent and get to Fontaines within 5.5 hours, seems doable.

You're all good. I land 9:30, need to get to A1, pitch my tent and get to main stage to see Gang of Youths. THAT's a challenge 😄

How muddy does it get at Werchter? I've done Glastonbury and Leeds festivals with heavy rain, one was a nightmare and one was just a bit inconvenient.

The only time the ground was a mudbath was in 2016, but it was after a month of heavy rains in Belgium. Other than that even if it rains you'll only experience several puddles.
