Also does Otway still play the cabaret stage?!

He hasn't done for a few years, sadly, but there is a bit of a gap in his 50 Years of Otway & Barrett Tour that would make it possible..... Should have asked him at the gig in Newport last month, he was on very fine form with Willy, who is very local to the fest....  it could happen!

Definitely so....but on the flip side it has potential to penalise the persistent and reward the affluent.

Why does that just sound so bloody familiar at the moment...... #brexitBritain

Not sure I'm a fan of these changes. Just makes getting into a huge booking group even more essential. Might have to look at joining one on here for the first time.

Agree with this, but.... we don't actually know yet that this late-payment system will be carried through to the next main ticket/deposit sale

It could be just being used for this resale to completely guarantee that we don't see a repeat of the payment-failure debacle in last year's main ticket/coach deposit sale. Then when it's all fixed and tested, we'll go back to the normal pay-as-you-book system we know and, er, love 🤞

Yeah, you can get up to six sent to one address I think

So if you do that, you pay just one £9.75 "transaction fee" for all six, instead of £9.75 each? That seems like a good saving! There's a few drinks in that bonus!

Brilliant - don't often go to see the serious talky stuff but this guy and his organization are just brilliant. Unmissable!

    Texas opening Other?

Last time they were booked, in 2015, they were tea-time on the Acoustic.... and sadly didn't turn up

Hopefully this year will work out better, but I'd be quite surprised if they're given a very prominent slot in the light of that experience tbh

I wasn't sadly, the one that stands out to me is North Mississippi Allstars in Avalon while Dolly was on. Not too empty, but more than enough room for them to wander round the crowd playing various drums.

It filled up as the gig went on.

Oh yes, I was at that too - fantastic gig! Hope they come back some day. Saw them at Lafayette last year, but the atmosphere at Glasto in the Avalon tent was better, with the band walking through the crowd and throwing their instruments to each other mid-song, just great.

Yes I might be in the minority but I enjoyed them as well, I never wanted to leave the shelter of the pyramid tree after managing to get a spot under it😉😊

I loved the ELO spot too, but yeah there's plenty here would rather have been watching the paint dry on the cow-sheds!

  9. I balked at Peter Gabriel's So - Back to Front tour in 2014 at £50, which I really wanted to see, when a lot of O2 concerts were still around the £30 mark

...then a mate had a spare ticket that he let me have for £25 so I saw it anyway! Not going to see PG on his new tour this year at those silly prices though (unless you have one to sell again Paul.....?)

Most I ever paid was a bit over £100 to see The Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan on the same bill at O2 in 2017 (sadly Walter Becker passed away a couple of months before the gig). Not sure if that even counts as 'a single gig', but it was a great evening and didn't regret it for a second. Haven't paid that much since then though, and with Glasto success again this year I don't expect I will...

Yeah I need a curveball announcement... A real good Glasto Fuck Yeah! announcement... MADONNA! MADONNA! Come on Madge, it's now or never! You don't need the cash anyway!

Very unlikely, surely? She's only in this country for one date in October for that tour

This is why GF will never ever be replicated, in any western country at least, as the cost and arseache to build something this big for 5 days of fun for 200k people makes it prohibitive to start from scratch. This has been built over 40 years, incrementally. It is absolutely astonishing.

One million people-fun-days!! Not bad.... 😁

New single is sounding good on 6 Music.

Yep it does - but it strangely sounds very little like Everything But The Girl imho - Tracey's voice almost unrecognisable since Temperamental / Walking Wounded

If they play, I wonder how her new very soulful vocal style would sit with the earlier songs

    * I still think Michael McDonald/Doobie Bros should be in the mix..

Mind you, beyond What a Fool Believes, they've got bugger all as well 🙄

You may well be being ironic, but I'll bite anyway....

Saw the Doobies a couple of years ago and the set was epic, would go down a storm..... especially if you include some Michael McDonald solo stuff. Many might not know these by name, but take a listen and if you were around, you'll know them:

Long Train Runnin', Listen to the Music, China Grove, You Belong To Me, Little Darling (I Need You), Minute By Minute, What A Fool Believes (as mentioned), Sweet Freedom, Yah Mo Be There, I Keep Forgettin', On My Own.... (good opportunities for some guest vocal appearances there too for extra vibes)

And all the Doobie stuff is very funky and accessible, it'd be a blast, I'd love it for sure

  14. Happy New Year to all eFesters!! Less than six months until Heaven's doors are open again...

2023's gotta better than 2022 for sure, so things are looking up by that logic (ever the optimist....) 🍹

Thanks both for the feedback about the queues, the only reason I asked was at some point I passed one and it had queue of maybe a dozen and I've never seen that before.

Yeah I used the one at the back of the Pyramid field this year and there were a few queues of several people, but nothing more than about a 10-15min wait at any time - the lock-ups as so great! Such lovely people (these were the Welsh CND crowd) running them too!

Seemed relatively easy today, thoughts? Mind you, I've never actually failed so maybe its always easy and I've just forgotten.

Nice to get all the admin out of the way - feel very lucky to be going. Now for the build up...

Yes agreed - so much easier than the main sale, and they seem to have fixed the payment problems as my NatWest card went through this time (failed in the general sale)
