  1. boring stories of glory days - just been reminded of (joyfully) bellowing out that last line and it felt like lots of others around me did too
  2. So any truth to reports that the sound on the live broadcast was bad? The iplayer version sounds fab on my system. One person who said it was my dad so I'd like to know, but I've seen it elsewhere as well
  3. I just started watching 20 mins ago - great so far! Let me roll it to ya... So bluesy! Seeing the graphics on the stage screen for the first time - thanks flag bastards
  4. The context for this photo is 'That doesn't look much like Richard Thompson - hang on I'll take a photo and zoom in on it for a closer look. Nope that's defo not him. I saw Richard Thompson on TV recently and he still looks like Richard Thompson' Ralph McTell stepping in
  5. Paul McCartney (torso only) and sundry audience heads
  6. George the horse at avalon with man-servant
  7. George crowd pouring out of JP into pyramid field for Diana
  8. Ellie didn't care for it much either
  9. Here's one of Robert Plant looking disdainfully at a flag
  10. I fluked a photo of Paul McCartney on stage - take that flag bastards!
  11. It's still just a theoretical danger for those who haven't picked up a dose at the fest and it'll still be a theoretical danger next year. Still not sure what the post-festival confirmation that many people HAVE picked it up is meant to imply for next year? I'm not really seeing anything new that we know 'now' that we didn't already know before the festival.
  12. What do you mean we 'now' know? Do you mean in a post-festival oh what a surprise many people have caught covid I wasn't expecting that type way?
  13. Aww nice song - good job they didn't catch covid.
  14. And the trouble is now it was sanctioned in favour of the TV audience when Emily Eavis did a stupid online poll about it that was surely dominated by the millions of TV viewers. It needs to come from her or Michael but I reckon Emily probably thinks the matter has been settled fair and square and that's that.
  15. Nothing to 'do' here - we're clearly not discussing flags taken down for the show.
  16. Indeed. efests had a snapper in the pit so lot's of good close ups, but that kind of wide view/record of the show has been lost.
  17. Anyone remember the Dad flag? I met Chris a few times - nice guy - sadly he died a few years ago. He was a good writer and kep a blog. Before he died he expressed his regrets for the way the flag situation had got out of hand and his part in promoting it.
  18. Yes fewer but still very view blocking. Here is not a photo of The Cure what I took.
  19. I daresay the artists do think it looks nice from their viewpoint but they would be a bit oblivious if the thought didn't also occurr that they're performance isn't directly visible for a huge swathe of the audience. Traditionally the curtain rolls back when the artist comes on stage.
  20. What are you on about - it's been diabolical for actually being able to see the stage and the artist you came to see for years. Some of the posts on this thread are like a new twist on the emperor's new clothes fable - people reluctant to call it out for how it is because it's glastonbury and 'special'
  21. Neither can anyone else! Unless you're near the front photography is a waste of time - just a curtain of flags.
  22. Wow that makes me feel a lot better about my chaotic entry on wednesday morning and the snap decision I made to switch from from Gate D to Gate A. I set my alarm to 5.30, but it was past 7.00 when I finally joined the queue to gate A having done lots of walking dragging my trolley up hill and down dale only to find myself back within 150yds of where my car was parked I got in at 10.15
