  1. Yes 1998 - I didn't attend the first one and recall after the festival talk about jazzworld backstage bar? I resolved to not miss it in 1999
  2. Hello Breeze from the past! Still using the same logo I see 😉
  3. lol, readers should note I 'got in' at Neil's invitation to have a look at the new shiney thing (i think we were in the chat room at the time). Naturally I took the opportunity to register my username - and Neil hasn't stopped grumbling about it ever since 😆
  4. On wednesday I was disembarking from the car, trolley packed - check, rucksack on - check, windows shut - check, and set off. One of young group of lads sitting in the boot of a car shouted over - mate you've left something behind! I went and picked up said left item, put it over my shoulder and called back to the lad - don't worry it's only my camera bag! He laughed but I wish I'd thanked him more and wished him an especially good festival
  5. 3 x complete trolley/barrow wheels and tyre with inner tube.
  6. Uh-oh I wouldn't go that far darling :) xx
  7. Don't worry about it, half a dozen, it's perfectly normal. People have been giving up going to glastonbury for decades.
  8. Excellent framing sir - nailed it
  9. I take a chair and a stool just for the tent - it's nice to be able to put your feet up and a stool is a good general pupose thing to have - serves as a table for your phone whatever. And a small frisbee - general pupose flat surface item
  10. This is a good way to go if you can do it. The rules I used to live by was one trip only, and whatever you do don't be a mule for other people's stuff! That last part has gone out of the window for me though in recent years (and thereby the first part too) due to girlfriend/friends from abroad arriving on the bus and I became the lead party setting up camp taking in multiple tents - sigh. This year for a change I only had one tent to take in, but gf still arrives seperately on the bus so I still carry the bulk of the load for the two of us and requires two trips if we're to have our own booze and keep the bar bill down.
  11. Well then my extra advice would be - don't be so inflexible.
  12. The site there is a real localized dead spot for all the other networks so fair enough to have someone come in and provide that option I guess. I have an unlocked phone and an EE payg sim for when O2 croaks but I still have to pay for that.
  13. Looks like you drive in from the east and so a natural east car parker I guess but the east side is much higher than the west side where the car parks are pretty much on the same level as PGA . Perhaps consider taking everything you need for wednesday in one trip and doing the 2nd trip on thursday when re-entry is much easier and you've recovered from the slog of tuesday/wednesday. I drive in from the west and park in the west but regardless, I had my own chaotic entry this year that led to me to doing loads more walking dragging my truck than really necessary (short version - set off for PGD and then made snap decision to switch to PGA) and got frazzled dragging my stuff across to the site to the south side. I did a 2nd trip on thursday which was a doddle compared to the trauma of wednesday (just a rucksack, no trolley). And always only one trip out on Monday!
  14. Carriers CAN make agreements but that doesn't mean there is cross connectivity everywhere. This is obvious from experience eg mobile phone coverage being rubbish at Bearded Theory except for EE (which still struggled for data at times) - that was just EE living up to it's rep as the best for coverage in rural areas, not event masts put in.
  15. did you try turning it off and turning it back on again? 😉
  16. They still sell dumb phones and I'm not aware of any changes in the way the phone/sms side works in recent years. There was a time when mobiles phones went from analogue to digital but that was brick phone era.
  17. Fairly minor regrets/cock-ups this year but I always have some. Getting the start time of System 7 wrong and only seeing the last 15 minutes. Not getting the memo about Richard Thompson cancelling. Leaving a good spot at Macca '10mins early' to beat the rush to the loos/bar and then the bugger played on for ages. I wasn't too fussed about la-la-ing along to Hey Jude, but Helter Skelter... (not that I completely missed it - I watched to the end from the cider bus) After Macca and possibly too many post-gig ciders, going back to our tent for 'a short rest' before our usual pilgrimage to see The Egg at the Rabbit Hole and falling asleep. Not spending more time at West Holts. Horrible clashes - Macca v Roisin v Waterboys really hurt Not pushing it enough cos y'know I'm getting on a bit now, and feeling far too fit and fresh on monday!
  18. boring stories of glory days - just been reminded of (joyfully) bellowing out that last line and it felt like lots of others around me did too
  19. So any truth to reports that the sound on the live broadcast was bad? The iplayer version sounds fab on my system. One person who said it was my dad so I'd like to know, but I've seen it elsewhere as well
  20. I just started watching 20 mins ago - great so far! Let me roll it to ya... So bluesy! Seeing the graphics on the stage screen for the first time - thanks flag bastards
  21. The context for this photo is 'That doesn't look much like Richard Thompson - hang on I'll take a photo and zoom in on it for a closer look. Nope that's defo not him. I saw Richard Thompson on TV recently and he still looks like Richard Thompson' Ralph McTell stepping in
  22. Paul McCartney (torso only) and sundry audience heads
  23. George the horse at avalon with man-servant
