  1. Double upvote! Summer's not been great to me with a mild hip injury and the fact that I can't sport if the temperature is above 20 degrees it seems. But am still pushing to get my steps in and to do short/slow runs. Just went this morning before the sun went up. So not as good as pre-glasto 2023 but trying to keep the habit. I've been assigned to a project that means I am sitting in meetings from 8 am to 5 pm, driving to and from work, sitting lunch with colleagues, so that's really not good 😞. Nobody said it was easy...
  2. Saw them! I almost lost my mind and forgot my non-violent ideals when I saw them.
  3. They never bother me unless they turn into a private camping areas, with blankets and chairs in the middle of an audience. I have to say I saw someone keeping a toddler around with one of those leash harness things this year and although those things seem wrong, I can totally understand using that at the fest 😅
  4. The great thing about the festival is that is caters (sorry...) to everyone, music wise, food wise etc. Nevertheless they do want to for example push some new artists, or a wider range of artists. So maybe some kind of push food wise for stalls to at least offer more vegetarian options. I am sometimes saddened that some meat dishes would work as vegetarian but are not offered (I never dare to ask for it though).
  5. The way this works at Dutch festivals these days is: you get a token for your first drink when getting your wristband. Which comes in one of those compostable plastic cups. They are not nice to drink from but well... When you go for another drink, or you hand over your old one, or pay a small fee. Or you get a token back for the day after if you're done drinking. It does makes everything more complex for the bars, although there are cups/token exchange points around. And for the punter too. The cost of those compostable cups is probably higher than normal too. Overall something's gotta give. Costs, manpower, hygiene, convenience...
  6. I second the Boygenius love. Saw them this week end at a festival and ... yes, sublime. Can't word it better. Record's really good but it's x10 better live. (and kudos to the "rest" of the band in the back, that bass player was having the time of her life)
  7. That's an excellent post. Nice to see good and well worded criticism. I am still enjoying myself but can indeed see some of the above tipping the balance in future years.
  8. Probably not very original there: West holts for a big stage, Avalon for a small one, and Crow's nest for a very small one. I tend to have artists I like on all stages, and probably more in woodsies/park, but the atmosphere and the " people who are there really want to be there" make those what they are. Plus I tend to discover new artists more at WH or Avalon. My "nightmare" scenario is having an artist I like early/mid day on other or Pyramid. They probably won't fill the field with people who are really into it and a good part of the crowd may be there half accidentally.
  9. Well it's quite representative of where I was born and where I live 🙂 During work I am a big fan of French radio stations Fip and Radio Nova. If anyone wants to try.
  10. Home is two Sonos (office and living room). Playing Tidal, soundcloud or radios (Belgian, French, UK stations). Otherwise phone when about or at the real office with various earbuds and headsets. I still love my "old" Bose noice cancelling ones, they're more than 8 years old I think. I bought new pads for it last year and they are as good as new. Terrible car stereo without bluetooth or DAB so mainly a Belgian radio station (stubru) and some usb sticks where I have old MP3s or ripped CDs. The CDs are out of their jewel cases, in individual plastic sleeves, and don't really get used anymore. I have a few vinyls but I bought them more as a "support the artist" move.

Yes there is definitely more exposure on the fatphobic thing but you barely hear about their claim of being underpaid compared to other crew members.

There should be an equivalent to the now widely given trainings on appropriate behaviour on the workplace but for artists. "John has told Susan he likes it when she wears a short skirt at the office, Is this OK yes/no?"-> "L***o tells her dancer she may want to eat less donuts before the start of the world tour, is this OK yes/no?"

Interesting though how the complaints go from banana related inappropriate actions to Christian proselytism 🤨. That's a trial I want to follow, if there's one...

Could very well be! First big night in Amsterdam, checking all the boxes.

I mean, colleagues night out to an Amsterdam sex club... Ummmm...not a good idea ?!?

I can see those things happening... The difference of those things happening amongst friends of amongst colleagues/boss/employee is the key... From some documentaries it seems Lizzo was trying to have both in her crew and that may have turned against her. How they will be judged is well, up to the justice system!
  17. Yes. Sometimes the script is a bit ummm... not very believable (last episode: low skilled police work ...) but it's still very enjoyable (last episode: the mega cliffhanger at the end).
  18. I never regretted missing a big chunk of Portishead in 2013 when she played, a couple of decades after I obsessed over the live version of Fire on Babylon on a Lilith fair CD...
  19. Well 3 years without going was a bit too much. Couldn't know... (I may be getting my years wrong but anyway, passed on one year then we had the COVID years)
  20. That's what I thought when not trying for the resale in...2019...
  21. I'll start stressing a bit when the details are known, time and method. Hopefully October as will be travelling in November too. And I am still traumatized by the last resale with the new payment rules .
  22. We do this to, unless there's a storm threatening to throw trees on us, gives an opportunity to chat as well. I force myself to go out for lunch to do whatever errand I can think of, podcast or music in ears. Yesterday it was just buying handsoap. And just like that it's a 20 mn walk. Unfortunately my hip problem is back. Started before Glasto, stopped and came back. Add to this a heatwave and I haven't been running since early June. Getting better but not ready for running impact... So this week I decided that instead of cycling back from work (5mn), I would do a longer route of about half an hour whenever the schedule worked out. Unfortunately yesterday I took a wrong turn and ended up on a path that got sandier and sandier as I progressed with no way out :P. An hour further and I was back home with burning legs AND arms from trying to stay on the bike :D. Am going later, but this time knowing what the correct route is :D.
  23. Which reminds me... Severance? ....Ok not: "once the writer's strike ends".
