  1. Last year had a diverse line up that felt coherent - you could draw lines from the top acts to the smallest acts.
  2. I think my problem is the line up seems very split between what the festival wants to be and what it has to be. There's some really good stuff in the undercard - Oren Ambarchi, Bar Italia, Nina Nastasia, Horse Lords, MC Yallah etc - but the undercard just seems disconnected from the rest of the line up. The headliners are really stale and would have been passe in 2016. 4 blokey rock bands isn't interesting, but it probably sells tickets. Really admire the move to booking more leftfield, "world", jazz and hiphop acts but making all these artists fit together in a coherent whole is a the difficult and interesting part Altogether it doesn't feel like a unified line-up, just randomly chosen acts who aren't joined by any real thread.
  3. Because EOTR is (or should be) a community or family of music fans who return every year. The line up shouldn't be so uninspired that it loses the loyal fans.
  4. I guess this really is the year of the undercard. Some interesting stuff down low and some diversity with genres, etc, but the big names are appalling. Boring, irrelevant, dude rock music.
  5. If The Walkmen play they are nowhere near headline size. They'd be Garden headliners at best. Future Islands are not headlining
  6. Wilco and Angel Olsen to headline, watch this space..
  7. Would love this, proper exciting live band too. Reckon it's not EOTR's cup of tea though
  8. Would pay for Phoebe Bridgers and Dry Cleaning to not be on the line up to be honest
  9. Also, neither would happen but imagine Danny Brown or Hudson Mohawke in the Big Top 😍
  10. Booked my ticket having not been since 2019. Hard agree regarding more experimental and "world" stuff. I'd put forward: Flore Laurentienne, Max Tundra, Alabaster DePlume (again), Jockstrap (again), Nourished By Time, Xiu Xiu, Foodman, Omar Souleyman, Liturgy, Congotronics, Ata Kak, L'Rain, Isik Kural, HEALTH, Oneohtrix Point Never, Beverly Glenn-Copeland, Mdou Moctar, Visible Cloaks, Deerhoof, Deafheaven, Grupo Pilon, Jessica Pratt, Dur-Dur Band, Sofie Birch, Group Listening, Horse Lords, London Bulgarian Choir, Ichiko Aoba, Lightning Bolt, Hannah Diamond, Rizan Said. Of the more established indie rock circuit: The Divine Comedy, Belle & Sebastian, The Hidden Cameras, Bonnie Prince Billy, Lambchop. Is Bjork too big for EOTR?
