Err when it comes to trying to lock in one of the biggest acts of all time they have to devote a significant amount of time and resource. I highly doubt if they’ve been working hard on Taylor to get to Glastonbury they’ve also been working on Madonna on the side. Can’t see a reality where they would have both in the same year. From a pure resource point of view it makes no sense.

It sounds like Glasto’s recent multi-year operations have been Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift and possibly Elton. We know this.

No I totally get that things can change I just think people are throwing her name out like all Glasto have to do is ring her up and ask. I would think that booking Madonna is a multi year scale operation (like the stones, McCartney, whatever).

I think Madonna is an absolute pipe dream. Really can’t see that happening. We know that she’s asked for a stupid fee before and wouldn’t come off that ledge.

Reckon Glasto HQ have heard from Taylor’s camp that she plans to be in Europe in June next year and it’s a “let’s see if we can make it work” or something like that… but in order to get her they have to play the game. They will prob know around this summer whether they have her or not. I’d like to think after this years fiasco they’ve actually lined up an alternative if she doesn’t materialise - but it won’t be something like Madonna or Rihanna - their egos will not allow being a step in. If you want to secure one of them they have to be your priority. Maybe if the 1975 tour again and have a gap that weekend they could finally break their bridesmaid curse - but depending on how late she leaves it we could get anyone. I think Billie’s team knew what was up keeping that weekend free in 2022.

Would maybe double check who you are challenging! I’m going to assume it has been - but the band is in a different position now and as they probably wrap up their career Glasto may be a possibility. I don’t read that at all. In the same way that Glasto tried multiple years for the Stones, Prince, etc - they don’t give up on the acts they really want and they know the game they have to play. I reckon Taylor has first refusal every year she’s touring now - and if she leaves it on the table / doesn’t materialise they will then have to look at second options. Strongly think that from now on one headliner is a “Taylor backup”. Whether they realise it or not.

But yeah I firmly think that if you want to see Taylor next summer - prioritise getting a ticket to her own shows.

Or - the festival have an open offer to Taylor and they are indeed holding a slot for her (because they know she’s around). I don’t think there’s a huge misdirection here. They are hoping for Taylor and Dua… and Taylor not materialising is a real possibility. We’ve seen how Glasto approach these things. They let offers sit on the table and try their best.

I’m coming with a realistic take. They are hoping for Dua and Taylor, but there’s a gigantic chance that Taylor will not materialise and they will be scraping for a headliner again. So imo I think we’ve got Depeche Mode, Dua Lipa and whoever they rope in to stand in for Taylor.

Now this has sat with me for a bit I’m wondering why they didn’t book Lana Del Rey, Arctic Monkeys and Elton John as the three pyramid headliners. Perhaps Lana’s live rep is the risk, but I feel like it looks like a real Glasto trio to me and would be more interesting on paper. Lana has by far got the most press from the announcement. Far more than I’d expect from a non-headliner. They probably had GNR there and waiting, but why did they need to rope in another stadium act when they could have taken a bit of a gamble. Lana has five UK #1 albums. It’s hardly a Stormzy booking where you really are taking a punt on someone. Idk. Just been thinking about it a bit.

And ironically, the downfall of this place is down to the way you’ve curated it.

I do hope you enjoy the beach. I remember when we met in person you thanked me for my contribution to this place. Guess that was just a throwaway comment or you’ve forgotten the real reason why this place was a success. The people who used it. Forums are a people driven platform, they don’t turn on the platform for shits and giggles. Just find it incredible how you can watch so many people walk out the door and feel nothing.

Even if I tried to explain to you it would go over your head, but it’s fine I saw this coming anyway.
