  1. Quite a few go to 6am - yes, Temple, but also Genosys, NYC Downlow, Gas Tower, Platform 23 etc…
  2. One factor might be the strong overlap between electronic/dance fans & people who want to stay up all night partying. I suspect it would be a lot more difficult to programme & plan larger capacity venues for other genres late through the night. As has been pointed out, the much tinier venues like small world have live non-electronic acts on late. And they’re never especially crowded - doesn’t really indicate massive demand…?
  3. I’m not as intimately familiar with the proceedings of the license committee as many on here. Would be genuinely curious to know what the main blockers to more stages & entertainment on Thurs actually are? I thought it was all about noise levels - they’re willing to accept the massive PAs on the main stages on 3 nights but not 4. So couldn’t they just run some more stages so long as the volume stayed down? Are there any other reasons? I mean, it would be ludicrous if it’s based on numbers or traffic given the site opens on Weds anyway. I totally get that the license needs to be respected to ensure the future of the festival. But wouldn’t a proposal that enhances on-site safety whilst causing very little real impact on local residents be at least something to discuss?
  4. Oddly enough someone with a Glastonbury car park sticker was right behind me for the very last bit of my drive home - literally along country lanes in Cheshire to within half a mile of home. Made me smile. 🙂 If anyone on here drives a blue Fiesta and was heading back to Macclesfield on Monday, hello! 👋
  5. Some valid points there about the predominance of electronic/dance late on… Maybe skip the gross generalisations about the audience though?
  6. Olivia Rodrigo for me. Wow. 😍
  7. Same! I vaguely thought it had been turned off. Prompted me to get a test as I do feel a bit ropey - negative so must just be the dust & post-festival lethargy.
  8. I only really spent Friday night down there, didn’t seem too bad tbh but I was in a bit of a state so possibly didn’t notice. FWIW I did see an electronic sign saying “The Temple is full - please find an alternative venue.” Was somewhere around West Holts I think. So they are still doing it I guess, just not for the whole area?
  9. Something I noticed this year was that stewards appeared to have less “authority” than previous years. Saw far more cases of people openly ignoring stewards instructions - in particular the Gate C re-entry queue on Sunday, where you had a steady stream of queue jumpers just streaming down the hill. 🙄 Probably ties into the covid break, where security & stewards maybe less confident or experienced, together with punters forgetting how to act decently.
  10. There was some moaning pre-festival, can’t remember from whom, that the Park “atmosphere” would be ruined by screens. Well, OK, maybe, but they need to not book big acts on there then. Can’t have it both ways - if you’re going to create massive crowds, you need a way for people at the back to see something.
  11. I swear they got smaller this year?! You’re right, those ones by Stonebridge had capacity for all of 12 people. Queued for ages after Wet Leg, quite honestly reckon might have been quicker to go to a long drop.
  12. Thurs: The Little Unsaid > Kae Tempest > HAAi B2B Eats Everything > Roger Sanchez. Fri: Orlando Weeks > Wet Leg > First Aid Kit > TSHA > Sigrid > Nova Twins > Bonobo > Billie Eilish* > Four Tet > Overmono (Was in a mess by that point though) Sat: Kikagaku Moyo > Holly Humberstone > Self Esteem > Glass Animals > Olivia Rodrigo > Paul McCartney > Jon Hopkins > Avalon Emerson > Cable Street Collective. Sun: Clairo > Diana Ross* > Kacey Musgraves > Lorde > Bicep > Tristan. * Bit questionable if these pass the 4 song test but I did deliberately make the effort to watch them, FWIW! 😉
  13. Right now, no regrets. Not watched any sets I wasn’t there for on iPlayer yet though. 😂

    Special Guests

Arlo Parks & Clairo with Lorde. 😍
  15. Genuine question: do you believe that systematic bias favouring some groups over others exists in our society?
  16. Glade Dome, 1 am ish Monday morning, having one last rave… Go to check something on my phone - oh hell, it’s not in my pocket. Not surprising tbh, I had been going for it a bit. 😂 Frantically start checking the ground around me - next thing I’m getting a tap on the shoulder, big smile & the phone handed back. Thank you whoever you were! 👏
  17. Oh right - sorry I’d misunderstood! Yeah that’s worrying if paid staff are giving up & going home. 🙁 As someone posted upthread defo seems a consequence of big events returning after COVID.
  18. About 146k steps - bad planning resulted in 3(!!) shuttle runs to the car in addition to entry & exit. Prob did a bit less walking around site than previous years tbh.
  19. Yeah, it was definitely busier. Was never in anything that felt remotely dangerous to me, sad to hear some others were. 3 particular points: - Railway track around SL on Thurs daytime, not even any acts on - what was that all about?! - Crowd after Libertines on Fri afternoon - we weren’t even trying to watch, we just wandered through at the wrong time on the way to the Park and got stuck for ages. - Exodus from George Ezra at JPT on Sun - was going the opposite way through the woods to watch Clairo and it was hopeless. Usually you can make slow progress against the flow but gave up & stood to one side until it died down a bit. Otherwise didn’t really affect me too badly, but as others have said it changes your experience of the festival. Other than reducing numbers I’m not sure what the festival can do about it. Maybe more use of one way systems… but v difficult to enforce without totally changing the layout. 🤷‍♂️
  20. Wouldn’t be free, they’d have lost their deposit so effectively have paid. I believe there also may be a blacklist for people who do this - not sure if that’s for future volunteering though or general admission too. Whichever, still a shitty thing to do.
  21. Absolutely smashed it. 😁 The pacing of the set was just perfect.
  22. OK, now it’s Sunday night I think it’s finally safe to say… weather was absolutely fucking exceptional 😄 Thanks to all for the relentless positivity & optimism in this thread. You guys are the real heroes here. 🥰
