  1. Obviously some people are just assholes and there’s no excuse for that. BUT I do have a certain degree of sympathy for people who are just overwhelmed with the experience of Glastonbury. It’s a lot to deal with, throw booze & pharmaceuticals into the mix as well and it puts you in a unique mental state. For the vast majority of us that’s wonderful - it’s a magical break from reality. But sadly for some it can affect them really negatively and result in some messed up behaviour. Again, no excuses for being an asshole, but I wouldn’t necessarily write off someone as a trash human being just ‘cos things got too much for them. Shades of grey innit. 🙂
  2. Just picked up tickets for Manchester in the presale. Something to look forward to in the new year! 😁
  3. That's my theory. I also have a diesel, it's 6 years old & planning on keeping it for at least another 4 years (all being well!). By that time BEVs should be cheaper & have longer range and hopefully charging infrastructure a bit better. Same here - today's the opposite to yesterday when it was cooler inside the house with everything shut! Nice breeze to cool things down now, much more pleasant.
  4. Outstanding, thanks for sharing. Was hoping they’d have some UK dates coming up!
  5. Pretty much just freestyle it depending on what I have in the fridge/cupboards 😂 Prob my favourite variation was when I had some chorizo & chucked that in - totally inauthentic for Lebanese flavours, but my goodness it was tasty.
  6. Prob should add on the regrets thread, missed all but the last couple of songs in her set - can’t even remember what I was doing instead now! 🙁 Really enjoyed those couple of songs though & hopefully will get to see a full set from her in future.
  7. I’ve made Shakshuka for breakfast quite a bit, absolutely love it. Dead easy. Makes a great hangover breakfast if needed. 😉
  8. On a nice warm October weekend it would be fabulous. Dark early so more acts could benefit from light shows. No worries about the sun waking you up or melting in your tent. Dreamy mist over the fields in the morning… 😍 In reality of course it would probably be an autumn storm with gales & driving rain!
  9. Sadly I think we will 🙁 If the weather forecast over the next 2 days happened over a festival weekend it would be very difficult for the event to keep running with a genuine risk people might die. Alternatively we might see more UK festivals adapt to provide accommodation for extreme heat like at Coachella, with air conditioned tents, water misting stations etc… But that’s a massive infrastructure investment that may never be needed. Not very green either.
  10. All of those are major factors in why I’m keen to go! Let’s hope it keeps the good parts. 🙂
  11. It’s very difficult for the festival as this discussion shows. Sure there are issues with the current setup, but at least they’re known issues and both the festival & punters have some idea what to expect. To introduce anything different like one way systems could easily make things worse… 😬 I’m glad I don’t have to make those decisions!
  12. What, actual paving slabs?! Absolutely mad if so. 🤯 10/10 for commitment.
  13. Thanks @incident @spudthemariner - need to be on it with tickets then clearly! Already signed up to the mailing list & following them on Insta so will be ready come September. It can’t possibly be as bad as Glastonbury tickets anyway 😂 Didn't realise it had changed ownership/management - is that good, bad, too soon to tell…?
  14. OK, it’s a long way off yet but really interested in Bearded Theory next year as the first proper festival with the family. 🙂 Got a couple of questions - hoping some regular visitors might know more as I can’t find info on their website! Firstly tickets - I see last year they went on sale early September. Do they normally do any sort of deposit or instalment scheme, or early bird prices? Or is it full face value up front? Then second thing was about the festival school. Does registration for this open up same time as tickets or later on? Keen to get my eldest booked in if possible. Thanks for any info!
  15. IMO the very concept of a “counter culture” was only possible in a society where mainstream culture was monolithic & heterogeneous. There’s far greater acceptance of diversity in almost every facet of culture now. Overall this is hugely positive! 🙂
  16. I always think with this type of conversation it's almost impossible to separate how much the festival has changed from how much you have changed. 🤷‍♂️ Not denying for a second that it has objectively changed over the years, but memories from younger years are inevitably a bit rosy-tinted. 🙂
  17. Picturedrome is great! I occasionally work from there for a few hours if I need a change of scenery. 🙂 There’s a few places I’m keen to visit food wise in Stockport actually - Yellowhammer in particular looks really good for baked things. Need to find an excuse to pop up soon…
  18. They’re at the Treacle Market last Sunday of every month. 🙂 Plus I think they do some other events & pop-ups etc. They’re on Instagram - @smokefireflamebbq. I’m not sure about veggie options though, think they’re pretty meat-focused… Well worth a visit for the Treacle Market if you’ve not been - it’s one of our favourite things about Macclesfield. Lots of interesting crafts and hand made stalls, live music and a street food section on Castle Street - plenty of alternatives to BBQ! 😉
  19. The pork belly tacos from Mexican Seoul were pretty good - but not quite top tier BBQ nirvana for me 😂 Best BBQ food stall I know of - not at Glastonbury - is smoke fire flame BBQ local to me in Macclesfield. Absolutely delicious.
  20. Blimey, this is almost as impossible as choosing just one favourite song. 😬 So dependent on mood, vibe, time of day etc… If I absolutely had to choose though then probably some sort of really good BBQ - beef brisket or pulled pork - maybe in a wrap, with hot sauce & pickles and a few other trimmings. Probably give you a different answer next week though! 😂 (Regarding mac’n’cheese - was actually pleasantly surprised by the place opposite Wow in Silver Hayes. Got peckish during Avalon Emerson’s set on the Saturday night & they were still open - better than I was expecting.)
  21. Or longer! Pretty sure at least some of the work for the following year must get underway before the current year’s festival even begins.
  22. Both! 🙂 Prob got more chance of an answer from the @bbcglasto account I reckon. I dunno, might get nothing back but worth a try.
  23. I still don’t think I’ve entirely recovered from that set 😁 Have you tried just asking them on Insta? Maybe worth a go.
