  1. Agree with the Waxahatchee shouts - she has racked up a seriously impressive back catalogue now. Not a duff album but still continues to outdo ourself.

Took a while to arrive but the new Grace Cummings album came today and is amazing as well. 'Everybody's somebody' massive song.

Gutted I cannot make it to either Waxahatchee' or Grace Cummings' gigs this summer - such good value for such awesome artists.

  2. Biffy Clyro were the Mark Webber / Felipe Massa of Glastonbury and the 1975 are the Sergio Perez / Valtteri Bottas.. not half bad, but got 'nearly' tattooed on their foreheads

Right now, I'd say that - once Dua Lipa does it - the current trio of younger British artists firmly in the mix are Dave, Sam Fender and The 1975.

But after that, who is there? Lewis Capaldi and George Ezra still shift singles and albums but neither seem likely to step up. Harry Styles is already at full stadium level, so there's no doubt for his credentials. Bring Me the Horizon seem set to top the Other.

It is a very curious matter to mull. Maybe next year, somebody will achieve the serious breakout or crossover success that adds them to the conversation.

Agreed, but things move at a very quick pace. 5 years ago, none of us had much of a clue about Billie Elilsh, or Dave, or Sam Fender, and Dua Lipa was playing the tent. Things move quickly. In 5 years Olivia Rodrigo may have missed the boat and we are talking about the next new upstart.

Bands like Foo Fighters / Coldplay / Arctics will always be in the mix but who joins them will always be fluid. I think Billie / Macca / Kendrick was one of the best mixes of headliners they've ever done. In 2017 that would have sounded pretty feeble...

  4. Never mind the buzzcocks, Graham Norton, Jools Holland... Well done CMAT. Tonight in Brighton, smashed it out of the park too. She goin' places.

  5. Highlight of the festival for me too. Was ready to head over on my own, managed to bring that whole team, and now all 10 of us have bought tickets to see her again. Shame it wasn't televised as I think that could have blown her up.

I Wanna Be A Cowboy was THE moment of the weekend.

  6. AM - 30% ... I'm a fan of them on record but I've seen them before and I don't have any urge to see them again. If there's a tasty run on the Pyramid beforehand and the group consensus is to stay there, I can't see myself putting up too much of a fight. But equally I'd be very surprised if there's nothing that drags me elsewhere.

GNR - 5% ... I can enjoy Welcome to the Jungle and Mr Brownstone I suppose. But yeah, overall not for me. Would much rather be elsewhere and it would have to be a pretty pitiful day for me to consider. And even then, I'll probably just go SEC.

Elton - 90% ... There are a very small handful of acts that could pull me away. Realistically though, I'm not going to be missing this.

It’s good, you’re very thorough and insightful.

Thank you! I'm doing it for a bit of fun really (after some pestering that I should start turning my obsession with listening to music into a more productive hobby) but it's been enjoyable to have to articulate what I think about what I've been listening to 🙂

Avalanches we’re ok but I was hoping for a little bit more. Again think i was in a bad spot on park stage.

had watched squid and big thief in a better spot just in front of mix desk earlier and sound was great for both there

See for me it was the other way round. Squid and Big Thief I was half way back stage left and the sound was fairly quiet.

Moved to the front left for Avalanches and it was the best sound all weekend.

  10. I've listened to the new track 5 times or so now and I seriously think it's the best thing he has done since TPAB. Absolutely sublime. Especially that Nipsey verse at the end. Stunning.
