  1. All the pieces are about in Europe next year for one festival to just announce the good bands on each line up and absolutely harvest the market. Shame not a single one has managed to get it together yet.
  2. If this is a publicity stunt then they have to turn up today with the best line up imaginable surely to offset that? Like this has to be the worst PR tactic imaginable if this is actually what’s happened
  3. I said a few weeks ago that they can’t help themselves with teasing when they have news to share, so the fact that they were silent meant that there was something going on. It’s just very frustrating as Mad Cool is a very big festival, gathers a lot of big names together and also takes names from other big Spanish festivals too. They’re left with no dates those weekends and it’s probably too late to shuffle things around. Cannot believe that they didn’t have the logistics sorted before booking acts.
  4. Davina Michelle self confirmed, and by Pinkpop’s Twitter.
  5. That’s crazy, behind the scenes they must be in absolute disarray
  6. Thought leaks would have been along soon enough to confirm or deny it, but this seems to have done the job haha.
  7. Funny how these things happen isn't it? Other than The Killers and QOTSA the other bands I would want to see on there I've never seen before. Looking around at what's been announced this week I was hoping one festival managed to catch LCD Soundsystem and Pulp together as they're the two I really want to see next year that I haven't before. But after LCD have been announced for All Points East today I can easily do that day and try and find a decent festival with Pulp
  8. If that was real that would probably sell me a ticket here. Big mix of the bands around next year that I want to see all gathered in one place, and I really love Sziget so I've always been tempted to head back
  9. Couldn't agree more with everything you've said here mate! You're right about the marketing, I know they're always confident that they'll have a great line up, but when so many other places are turning out near full line ups and you've got a handful of names to go off it's not going to inspire you here. Festivals (and live music in general) costs far too much now to buy a £300 ticket on the hope it might have a great line up. There are so many names touring this year that would neither be too small nor recycled names - I think you've got it really right here and I know it's a comment myself and a few people have mentioned before. It's harsh looking at LCD, Massive Attack, The National, Smashing Pumpkins etc all going elsewhere whilst we get Royal Blood et al again, and I say that as a Royal Blood fan. But having seen them three times in the last two years at other festivals it's not going to inspire me to make a journey when all of these other bands are elsewhere at cheaper festivals.
  10. I don’t think anyone is necessarily suggesting The Prodigy (although they would be very welcome for me) but just pointing out that Lenny usually comes with another name. I still don’t think we need to go all scorched Earth over the semantics of “headliner” and Pearl Jam. Last two times they played since they changed the poster format they’ve shared a top line (once with Jack White and also The War On Drugs). If they’re touring I’d bet money that they’re at Werchter
  11. Agree that the final options there is a disappointing one but I don't think it will play out like that. I have seen Kravitz twice (once at RW in 2015) and he's been very good both times. But on his own he isn't enough to sell that day to me, but first time he played before The Prodigy and second time (at Pinkpop) he played before The Cure so I think he's prepared to play alongside other big names, next year should be no different
  12. I'm sure the initial rumours we had placed PJ on the Friday night. Would make sense and leaves space for a strong co-head with Kravitz
  13. This is becoming quite stacked isn’t it…
  14. Oh aye that's true, especially when you look at the size of festivals Maneskin is headlining next year. I don't dislike Maneskin, I just thought Pulp seemed more likely with the 'vibe' of the festival if that makes them sense. Them headlining WOW in Sweden and Oya around the same time made me think they'd have turned up here
  15. Is this not potential cause for optimism re LCD? Not that far to go between Normandy and Leuven, 5 hour drive according to Google maps. Would love to see them on before Foos. Far too many good bands in the area and Werchter is far too expensive for them not to turn out a great line up* *still plenty of names left to announce of course.
  16. If by old site they mean Ifema then surely that can't be true? Logisitical problems aside on the Thursday of 2018 it's one of the best festival sites I've ever been too. The 'Region of Madrid' stage when the sun was setting with the palm trees behind it with a good band on in 2022. Nothing else like it. If 2023 had been there instead of moving I'd have bought tickets before the line up was out.
  17. If they'd had Pulp instead of Maneskin (thought they might have, unsure where they'll play in France now?) this would have sold me a ticket. Other than The Offspring I haven't seen any of the top 3 lines and want to see all of them next year.
  18. Wonder if Pulp are turning up here? Thought they were nailed on for Best Kept Secret and then didn't turn up there, didn't appear on DTRH either.
  19. Part of me thinks that was because they were playing Main Square later on that day and done Werchter earlier in the afternoon.
  20. It could bode well that they're confident that whatever they have for that Thursday is going to sell tickets thought. (Just trying to keep the spirits up haha) Yeah the more I think about it Avril Lavigne probably is the co-head/glorified sub there looking at her other positions around Europe. I agree though that that would be a weak seeming top 3, even though it is a great female top 2 to help diversify the top of the line up.
  21. Yeah they're a band whose popularity I find very hard to gauge due to them playing wildly different slots all across Europe. Them playing 6th down Main Stage 2022 made me think 5th seemed reasonable but I have no idea really. Maybe 3rd down Barn against a poppier act?
  22. The big thing that worries me is Sum 41 leading the announcement. I know they're on their farewell tour but surely they're midday/4th down main stage at best these days?
  23. If I had to have a guess looking at this I would say: Best case scenario: Friday: Maneskin > ??? > Yungblud > Sum 41 Deus > Snow Patrol in the Barn Saturday: Dua Lipa > ??? > Avril > ??? > Nothing But Thieves Sunday Foos > ??? > Royal Blood Michael K in the Barn Worst Case Scenario: Friday Some combo of Deus/Maneskin/Yungblud as top 2 Saturday Dua Lipa/Avril Lavigne Sunday Foos/Royal Blood top 2 And I say "worst case scenario" in the sense that 'it's good and there's a few interesting names, but for the price that Werchter charge these should be good level undercard names at best, not in the headlining slots, especially when you look at who is around next year"
  24. Apologies for the double post but a single act there for the Thursday yet according to the press release It's time for a round of new names for Rock Werchter. Previously announced were headline acts Foo Fighters, Dua Lipa and Måneskin. The list of new arrivals for the upcoming edition is as captivating as it is varied. dEUS, Snow Patrol, Yungblud and Sum 41 are coming to Werchter on Friday 5 July. Saturday 6 July will feature newcomers like The Last Dinner Party, Róisín Murphy, Nothing But Thieves, Avril Lavigne and Khruangbin. Michael Kiwanuka and Royal Blood will play the festival on Sunday 7 July. More names will be revealed soon.
