  1. Go for it! You’d do a good job of it.
  2. I’m doing an interesting project, the Manchester equivalent of https://www.humansofnewyork.com/ with help from Factory International and others.
  3. The high ceiling allows for much adaptability, floors or partial floors can be added to the space, and it can be vertically divided too, plus the more conventional theatre seating area can also be part of the gig/theatre/show etc creating a huge space. Just so happens I’m working there tomorrow….
  4. Avalon wins on penalties. I hit the bar (Avalon Bar).
  5. If you saw them you’d recognise them! I spoke to a few of the band but missed the several performances they did. I don’t know about the Rocket Lounge.
  6. It’s in its own self contained area, a popular bar too, the line up tends towards Bearded Theory/Beautiful Days tastes.
  7. Anyone seen Haircut 100? I used to think nothing of them but now reckon they could be fun?
  8. I saw her at Reading last year. Yes, she is good.
  9. I'd be interested in Lulu, Toyah & Robert, and the Old Time Sailors (They played Croissant Neuf last year but it was so rammed I couldn't get into the tent)
  10. Yes! Happy with the line up. Baby Queen seems an odd choice for the Avalon!
  11. Wow, that’s ever so slightly similar!! Starman was nicked from Somewhere Over The Rainbow. One of Tin Machine’s songs was an exact rip off of Wild Thing. Bowie was no angel.
  12. Was there ever confirmation the riff was nicked by The Sweet? I seem to remember Blockbuster came out before Jean Genie? At the time, it was assumed The Sweet stole it off Bowie. And, like everything, neither was completely original but it was odd they both came out within a short time of each other.
  13. We did the roadie work for the Voodoo Tweed Cult last year....
  14. I’d agree. NFR is her best record, I doubt she’ll better it, and my second favourite is Ocean Boulevard. Will see her at Reading so can’t judge her live performances yet.
  15. I Am Maximus! I very rarely bet, but thanks to the Acoustic booking Russell Crowe inspired wager, I’m a winner! I Am Maximus!!
  16. The only time I’m thinking don’t miss Richard Thompson at the Acoustic and he’s not playing! I always find a couple of interesting acts on their line up but this time I’m seen the ones I’m really interested in. Maybe give Judy Collins a go.
  17. No. I’m not really sure why I haven’t. I really like her first album and a friend said the second was really good. I need to sort myself out!!

    Lulu

No, it was busy but not uncomfortable. She really teased the crowd with false starts to her big hit Shout and the tent got lively then. One of her stories was being in the studio with the Bee Gees. Two of them were playing the idea of a song, Barry turned up late and just walked into the studio and immediately started singing some lyrics. There and then it became one of their biggest hits.

    Lulu

She was superb at the Avalon when she played some years ago. Told some good stories about her life too, including the Bee Gees and others.
  20. My son was there. He was in a state afterwards. I put him in a large bin bag otherwise he wasn’t getting a lift home!
  21. I’d say a tearful goodbye by climbing up to the Glastonbury sign late Sunday night, stay a while and pinpoint all the areas of the festival and take one last photo.
  22. Absolutely. We should expect just a few minutes for the resale to be over.
  23. It’s a fair comment, ideally I’d like to see the map include every stage but I recognise that’s a challenge. They could do with having a full map in the festival program, and the basic one elsewhere
  24. I have to admit I was wondering why the colour had changed! Duh!
