Use Justpark and find a close by car park that's cheap. We did that last year and parked near a Uni building. Walked about 10-15 mins to the site. Parking was something like £9 per day.

Thanks for the heads-up on this, still want to go so we are looking into it. Just don't want to be parked miles away as we are of (ahem) a certain age - well, my husby is 74, got an apartment in Waterlooville so the logistics over 3 days could be a bloody nightmare, when it could've been a lot easier for us to park on-site. Then again, compared to breaking down 10 miles or so outside Petersfield on the way home last year, waiting 2 hours on a slip road trying to stand well back waiting for the RAC to turn up and having to get 3 trains back to Essex with all of our luggage and then being told the car was totally written off, if we can find reliable parking locally then we are so going!

  2. Booked tickets in hopeful anticipation of a great line up, looking at Tramlines, Truck and Y Not... and then found out we can't park on site anymore - I want to cry. We are supposed to going to/from Waterlooville each day and back and after last year's car troubles I'm not sure if we can be bothered. If anyone can help with the parking situation, that would be great. If not, we will have to write a good £350 + off

could see TDCC doing this possibly?

deof think Kasabian nailed on, would be gutted if they were not tbh

I would be well gutted if TDCC didn't do this, after Bastille last year - sorry but they should have been Common. I think Kasabian are nailed on. If I had one dream for a Saturday night party - Pendulum or Disclosure would be amazing! Would love to see Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott too. Biffy Clyro? Laughing so much - way too big for this unfortunately, but you never know!

  4. More than happy with that so far - never seen Jamiroquai before live (apart from JayKay driving really fast along Colchester high street many years ago lol!) Enough to take me back. Haven't seen The Enemy for years either, hoping they will smash it like Embrace and White Lies did this year. Love The Vaccines too, they have grown. Looking forward to Sigrid again if she doesn't clash with anyone - she's brilliant. Please don't put Jamiroquai up against Heaton & Abbott though on Friday night! I am still hoping for either Years & Years, Two Door or The Strokes for a supermassive Saturday!

Went to that gig and could see a hits set going down well at Victorious.

I would seriously take FF as a headliner, would be a good fit. Never seen them before and would love to! Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott nailed on for a Castle Headliner? Would love to see them too. Now IOW has been announced I guess it knocks The Enemy (gutted), Echo & The Bunnymen (even more gutted) and Blondie out. I will take Lightning Seeds though, always brilliant live - and it leaves it wide open for headliners next year. Someone mentioned Jamiroquai a few days ago... oh, if only!

  6. Hi, we loved the festival more this year because of the line-up, apart from the car overheating on the way to the festival on Saturday, which put a bit of a dampener on it lol when we had to miss Pompeii, waited 3 hours for the RAC to turn up, got us back to where we were staying at 3am, back to the Festival for a great time on Sunday and then broke down on the way home on Monday morning and it's still stuck in a garage in Petersfield!

My Saturday Highlights: Sugababes, better than expected (there's always one song you don't get, so wanted Run For Cover!), We caught some of 19 Forever, they were great and got everyone singing along. Only The Poets were awesome and so were Crystal Tides - should be on Castle next year. Controversy here but heard Sports Team twice now, not doing it for me and neither were Inhaler, pretty basic. Wish we'd done The Subways instead! White Lies absolutely smashed it, and we got near front. The biggest shocker for me was the crowd for The Wombats... couldn't get anywhere near but found some outside space, they always deliver. Bastille were amazing as always, decided to watch the whole show from the top of the hill.

Sunday - Bearing in mind we didn't get home until 3am after car trouble - Example and DJ Wire was an absolute treat! Suddenly crash-landed into Ibiza at 1.15pm... that set the whole mood for the day! For us, it wasn't about trying to get to each stage like the day before, it was about just wandering round and taking in stuff. No idea who the Human Beatboxer was on the Lucozade Stage - he was off the chart! When you love a clash that somehow works - Embrace and Editors, we had time to get back for Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors and Munich! Went back for Sophie Ellis-Bextor - seriously didn't expect that big a crowd - I always thought Becky Hill was on the wrong stage. That's why we bailed, before Nothing But Thieves - gutted. I wouldn't say it was getting dangerous, but it was getting packed.

Hey that's great, I just meant there's no older acts really this year like in the past Weller, Brian Wilson, Specials, Madness, last year had Nile, etc. It seems to be 90s onwards acts.

Sorry if it came across the wrong way, hope no offence taken.

Me and the Mrs love the older acts ourselves, I wish there were more 80s acts on for sure.

luckysalt, no offence taken at all, I know where you are coming from though! I love rock and indie stuff, but I think Sophie Ellis-Bextor is gonna smash it!  What we love about Victorious is the fact that it is such a friendly festival with a great crowd, yes there are gonna be a few youngsters giving it large later on and a few kids screeching during the day... but the line-up this year, for us, has out-stripped any festival line-up in the UK this year 🙂

Most of the crowd is really sound but every year there seems to be more pissed up teens on site in huge groups. But they should keep themselves to themselves. It's a real mixed bag of ages. But this year I'm not sure there's too much for the older crowd as in 50+.

Getting around site should be fine, lot of concrete paths. Lot of places of site to chill at as well.

    Any other questions just ask

I will disagree with luckysalt here, bearing in mind one of us is 50+ and the other 70+ - brilliant line-up for us, at least we won't get bored this year with so many decent clashes!!  One of the most accessible festivals we've ever been to, you should have no problems at all, Bisque. Saturday got a bit frenetic, early, but it calmed down later. Sunday was quite chilled. I think it might be the other way round this year though.

The weather won't be like it is right now surely? According to Accuweather it's only going to be 22C but tbh it's too far away to predict what the weather will be like then. Unless you heard something different?

Oh come on people, this is England - it's written in the script and it is on August Bank Holiday! The weather will break a few days before so that means it will be wet and windy! I hope not though as it's the only festival we are going to this year. Last year was immense, but my husby was a bit crocked so we had to leave earlier than expected on both days. This year will hopefully make up for it, with that stellar line-up. The only thing that concerns us is (a) that they have made the site slightly smaller, but we will deal with it; (b) Editors or Embrace? Don't think I've ever had a bigger clash!

Just been updating the clashfinder, and I’ve gotta say the clash between Editors and Embrace seems bizarre?

Agree - total nightmare for us as love both bands equally. Add Example into the mix as well - might have to pull names out of a hat on the day or just see where we end up! There are odd spots all over Saturday and Sunday

  11. Totally underwhelmed doesn't come close! The nearest I will get to going this year will be Foals, with an amazing undercard, if it's announced. Otherwise it's pretty snorze-ville. Victorious has a much better line up 🙂

Looking back at last years clashfinder I reckon it was Crystal Tides. They’re a Portsmouth band as well, and I saw them at this tiny indoor festival at the Wedgewood Rooms called Golden Touch. There’s something amazing about discovering new music you’ve never heard of before you hear it live.

A band I’m really hoping make an appearance are The Royston Club. Again they were at Golden Touch and I’m hoping they become massive because they are class

Thanks Sam217 - It was definitely Crystal Tides, I knew they were a local band because they mentioned Craig David being a "scummer" at the time - they were quality - that was how to smash a car park apart in the afternoon! Will look up The Royston Club and see what they are like 🙂

  13. I am pretty stoked with the whole line-up overall, apart from Nutini headlining Saturday - I don't get that one, but then again I was hoping for Biffy lol or at least Franz Ferdinand! Against Nutini though, Bastille are amazingly popular - putting them on the Castle Stage could be a massive mistake - we couldn't get anywhere near the main stage to see them at IOW 2019 or at Latitude last year for the re-orchestrated. I have some juggling acts to do, especially on Sunday. Who were the rock/indie band I loved last year that played on the tiny stage in the car park bit on Saturday, around mid-afternoon and absolutely smashed it? That's what I love about this particular festival - always something new to discover!

  14. The only decent thing about autumn/winter (apart from comfort food) is over analysing who is gonna play where, so here are my thoughts.  Not been to Reading for a couple of years cos the line-ups have been pretty weak for me, or I've seen it all before. Still hopeful for at least 1 day next year...

Foals - could happen as a headliner. Smashed the bejesus out of Ally Pally and I also think the smaller upcoming gigs are deliberate.

Catfish could sub-head on one day or co-head.  Seen them a few times and 3 times out of 4 they smashed it.  Popular with the tweenagers (and me, even though I am no longer a tweenager, but I think and act like one!)

The Strokes - yeah, I would love to see them, but it would have to be a good all-round day to tempt me there. Apparently did a good set at All Points East and went down well with all ages.

Blur? Hmmm. They'd be better off doing Castle Park in Colchester to cut their fine teeth again.

BMTH - massive disappointment for me as I love a lot of their songs, saw them a couple of years ago at Sziget and they didn't play 2 of their most pivotal songs and they are a just a bit too much 30STM live...

I predict Foals for Friday, Stormzy for Saturday and I could see the curveball being Coldplay for Sunday as they are releasing new material very soon.

  15. None of those are a true reflection of what the line-up is gonna be, but there are some serious clashes in there for me! Inspired at the thought that Pendulum (live) might turn up tho... it's been a long time at Reading since the 3pm Saturday main stage smash-it slot with the likes of Hadouken and Modestep - stick Pendulum on there!

I think Foos are a definite headliner, AM a good possibility and maybe Royal Blood with Imagine Dragons or Paramore.

  16. The most awesome headliners for me would be Muse, Linkin Park and Kasabian, but I can't see that happening!

I defo think Muse and/or Linkin Park could headline though.  Muse haven't done R/L since 2011 so they're well overdue (and I'm not biased, honest!!)  LP are headlining Download in Paris but not Donington so that leaves them wide open for R/L.  Stone Roses could be another punt although it will probably end up being someone like Kings of Leon - yawn...

Would love to see System of a Down back there, they are headlining Download but could be a sub head. Catfish, in my opinion, have to be main stage next year, along with Blossoms and Twenty One Pliots.  Nothing But Thieves higher up the bill as well, please.  You Me At Six I would say are a dead cert.  BMTH could be an option, although I wouldn't put them as headliners.  I would also love to see Coasts on the main stage.

Let's have The Wombats on the main stage as the first Friday act to kick the festival off in style and get everyone up for it like Frank Turner did this year - that was absolute class!

  17. Bitterly disappointed with this year's line up - Paul Weller in The Jam days was an inspiration, he is now just a sad reflection of his former self; Elbow are like a disease, they creep in frickin everywhere and send you into a comatose state (well they did me at Reading last year anyway!) and Bon Iver I don't get either. White Lies would have been a much better Saturday headliner on the Obelisk and am shocked that they only made the Word Arena - if my previous experiences of their gigs is anything to go by then I'm sure their pyrotechnics might achieve that quite easily!! Would also like to have seen the likes of Tribes and Spector make an appearance as they seem to be doing a lot of other festivals.

Personally I would have liked The Cure as a headliner, still keeping everything crossed for Hop Farm then - if there is gonna be one this year...
