But aye, Paramore are gonna headline next year if they do it at all.

Hahaha ffs. Obviously Muse are a bigger deal, mind, and they've had a big 90s/00s rock band headline every year since 09 so they were probably pretty desperate to get Muse in to fit that.

I think it's because Gorillaz is a presumed plural, therefore Gorillaz' and Sanchez's.

I thought you had it there for a second but if I was going round to Alexis Sanchez'(s) family's house for dinner I'd say I was going to the Sanchez's as opposed to the Sanchez'.

    This album is a mess.

None of the songs released in advance were any good so I'm not really excited to give the full album a go.

I think that is the key point the Z on Sanchez is softer, making it pronounced almost like Sanches.

The Z sounds are exactly the same when I say Sanchez or Gorillaz.

West Holts didn't announce until the end of May last year

I know but we had info from the Emerging Talent Competition final that West Holts would be announcing soon and they said on Facebook (or another social media site) in March that the West Holts lineup would be out "next month".

Edit: And last year they didn't have their own announcement, they just released their own poster along with the full announcement. If they're getting their own announcement this year it will be earlier.

Not following football and being terrible with non-english pronunciation, I have to ask - how do you say 'Sanchez'?  Specifically, does it end with an 'a' sound rather than a 'z' or 's' sound?  If it ends with an 'a' sound then you have your answer.

Haha poor example from me then, was just the first thing I thought of.

It's pronounced exactly as it looks, ending with a Z.

Well judging from their recent showing on Jools, they're not going to slip into that awful "pushing boundaries" thing that has ruined Gorillaz' output.

Calling grammar nerds @Scruffylovemonster @bennyhana22 and anyone else. Should the possessive of Gorillaz end with an apostrophe?  Even though it doesn't end with the letter "s", it does end with a similar enough sound that I wouldn't say "Gorrilaz's"  So I think I've got it right, but I'm not sure.

P sure either way is acceptable. It depends for me. I'd always say Gorillaz', as Gorillaz's sounds really weird. However for other words it's different. If I was talking about football I'd say "Sanchez's goal last night was sick" as opposed to saying "Sanchez' goal", because that sounds really weird. But I can't work out what is different about the words 'Sanchez' and 'Gorillaz' to make it like that.

After what people have said I have tweaked my prediction a bit (though I'm now not sure on the coheadliner. Kinda wanna put alt-J under Killers, Prodigy under Royal Blood and remove Deftones. Think that would make the stages flow better but who knows)

    Changes:
alt-J (Main Sub -> Main coheadliner)
The Prodigy (Main Third -> Main Sub)
Deftones (Main Third -> Main Sub ish)
    Pendulum (Main Sub -> Removed)
Panic! At The Disco ( -> Main Third)
Stone Sour ( -> Pit Headliner)
The Sherlocks (FR Headliner -> Removed)
Palace the Skateboard (FR Headliner -> Removed)
Wolf Alice ( -> FR Headliner)
    Shura ( -> FR Headliner)

Sorry I keep doing this but Wolf Alice are already way too big to headline FR, they'd be 3rd main or NME headline I reckon. Run the Jewels are in the area this year and not playing so I don't see why they'd book em next year if they haven't bothered this year.

The 1975/Royal Blood - Foos - Flo with Paramore saving Reading for 2019 and playing BST next year instead. Fuck BMTH the boring goats. The 1975 could (and really should) be an outright headliner but with how keen they seem to play I think its highly plausible they could agree to share with The Bloods.

Paramore's album comes out before this Summer, doesn't it? Booking them to headline two years later, on their third Summer touring the album, would be pretty awful.

I should caveat the info I got from my friend... He said that the drummer is going to Glastonbury, by didn't know if it was just as a punter or playing with another act.

They have shows elsewhere on the Wednesday, Friday, Sunday and Monday so I think that info is probably duff.

  10. The Sex Pissed Dolls are playing two sets at IOW. They literally couldn't even fill two stages so they gave two sets to a Sex Pistols tribute act. It's astounding.

Fair enough about Deftones, but after how disappointing the Prodigy's last album was I'm not sure I agree. I'm only putting Pendulum that high as it's a reunion and they have been on haitus for 5 years. I guess it would really depend on Prodigy's next album and if it were any better....

Prodigy have been around and that size for so long now that it doesn't really matter how good their albums are. It's like U2 and AC/DC releasing new albums that no one gives a shit about and remaining stadium fillers on the strength of their old material. Whatever The Prodigy put out next they're still a sub/headliner at major festivals.

Whoops meant the band palace my bad lol (never seen their logo before and always just assumed that triangle one was it)

And Prodigy I still think is quite likely, they're working on a new album soooo (And deftones maybe not but I couldn't think of anyone else to put there)

I meant the placements. Prodigy are a sub and definitely no lower (could maybe co-headline, even), and Deftones are no smaller now than when they played 3rd down main in 2013. They subbed Download last year. They'd be second or third down the main stage at R&L.

But I thought the Other Stage opened about an hour before the Pyramid so there wouldn't be a clash or is my memory playing tricks on me.

Pretty sure they both open at the same time. James were definitely clashing with the Syrian Orchestra last year until the opening of the Other Stage was delayed.

    Isn't that what I'm saying?

Yeah tbh I read your post and remembered you mentioning the big Pyramid opener and then carried on reading until the end of the thread, then went back to quote it and didn't re-read/remember the full context of your post. Thought you just said something about them not booking a big opener for both without really expanding on it.

    Apologies, dentalplan.
