Can’t see that as FI are the band that mo one wants to see
-
I don’t think one person will love everyone but I think there should be a few that tick the box. It’s missing that classic act at 8pm on Sunday in Big Top too.
-
I don’t think we can fault the undercard. It’s just the middle tier of acts. I thought The Walkmen were ideal - it makes sense that they may have been omitted until the Koko dates sell out but surely just wait for that to happen then announce EOTR. This is why I don’t think they will play now.
-
I don’t think we can pass judgement until full lineup out
-
Headliners won’t please everyone but you would expect to see more established acts (The Walkmen, Julia Jacklin, Osees spring to mind).
-
It’s defo missing a top tier second line - Perfume Genius, Kurt Vile, Kevin Morby all played last year
-
Been on an EOTR discovery buzz all day and discovered some really good things lower down on bill. I still think there is a lot to add for top half - seems to be missing at least of couple of Kurt Vile / Perfume Genius type acts.
-
There’s defo a gap of established acts to play as sub headliners on Woods / Garden plus one Garden headliner missing.
-
You know you can’t just pick bands and ask them to play ? What if they aren’t touring ? You have a pick if one’s on tour so it’s viable for all parties especially pre Covid.
-
Someone more knowledgeable than me will know what sort of acts we get in second wave
-
Plus the other acts might be just see for someone else. Wilco would have been my number one choice. I still think it’s missing a decent middle line of Woods pre headline acts and one more Garden. It’s also the first announcement with 35-40 acts to add. That’s loads.
-
And that all adds up. Seeing a few band a day that costs between £10-15 is great value. They also make the site look great and still allow you to take booze in.
-
In what regard ? Wilco would cost between £50-60 to see and similar for other headline acts. There will be loads of costs for a festival. I believe that will generate around 2.7 million from ticket sales.
-
96 bands on poster and 129 played last year
-
Fleet Foxes, Bright Eyes and Pixies were headliners last year. They could be described as dull to some. I am not sure how any of them linked with some of the smaller acts last year.
-
How can a festival that puts on 130 acts be connected though ? It’s surely got to cater for multiple genres and audiences hence a disconnect. Your point about the headliners stands as it’s too male led but apart from Yeah Yeah Yeahs, I don’t who could have played.
-
It seems one garden headliner short. Is the second wave normally bigger bands though?
-
But I don’t need to do that. It’s the first announcement for starters and you can a good time regardless of the bands.
-
A four day festival is never going to be perfect for anyone. People will always complain about something as it’s impossible to please everyone. The headliners are different genres for starters - I don’t like Future Islands so will go elsewhere and catch something different. EOTR is still a small boutique festival and still attracts loads of amazing acts. The only strange thing is that there isn’t a female fronted act on Woods.
-
And you have perfectly proved my point. Insulting some one because they disagree with people being rude about a festival lineup.
-
This is exactly it. You can be disappointed but nothing is going to change.
-
But it’s their choice. They have control over their decision. Don’t like the lineup then don’t go.
-
I didn’t say that. It’s a festival and a first world problem. If you aren’t confident that the line up will be to your taste then you are better waiting?
-
You know you don’t have to go? Also, why buy a ticket blind ?
-
Don’t they have some backing / funding from the welsh government too ? A bigger capacity means a bigger budget. Most years, the line up split is the same when you compare.
