    KISS

that appears to be the only UK date anyone made a note of, Berlin is June 22 and Lyon is June 27.
  2. One of my favourite shirt years this design was similarly upon.
  3. I heard they had to get the catering that was there to be nearby, and were originally offered the bit by the Tipi as a completely empty space. They weren’t happy at having less caterers around them - when that’s what anyone wants after their third pint.
  4. ...successfully got early bird tickets at tier one prices, for the first time oh and Tide & Thyme win best caterers of the festival circuit 2022- and yes i tried every single eatery there this year - ask my bank app! I even had to sample all their extra random dishes - salmon bowl, kedgeree, etc
  5. Our 10th one loved it as usual - all good, even the distinct lack of eateries. Very bad is the Cider Bus taking a long cold look at coming back next year. The changes - what's with all the ruddy kids, once upon this time this festival was almost kid free, now it's got the little tiny noise bags everywhere. the surprising - not writing a review for the first time in over a decade - who wants to hear what i have to say anyway? the even more surprising - recognised even when incognito (gonna have to try harder to avoid everyone) - in reality love to meet folks The second festival this year where I didn't smoke at all - think I may have beaten Mr Nicotine, now just got to learn not to get out of it on Saturdays! 😆
  6. THEORY: Interesting point - fanning crowd randomness is not good from a ergonomic crowd flow point of view, and this is a concerning observation. it suggests the crowd was not self policing, usually as found at football matches or gigs - experienced attendees manage the crowd, often unintentionally but because they’re familiar with the route in/out, and it’s human nature to follow the person who looks knowledgeable/relaxed in getting somewhere. As anyone who is a fan of the Whisperers on Walking Dead (or John Wayne’s The Cowboys) knows - it’s about herd movement mentality. You need at least a few crowd controllers who know what they’re doing and where they’re going and that controls the massive numbers. Usually at major crowd control events this is in addition to your proper crowd control staffing. Which is why newly created events can expect to need more Marshalls to control a Virgin crowd. The thing with 2000 was loads of those experienced crowd herders left (the wall meant they knocked it in the head). this year probably saw the same number of veteran know what they’re doing crowd controlling retirees - due to the long break. As we all know from festival crowds if you can be aware of at least one person (a cowboy) who knows what they’re doing they can settle the herd, without them large bunches of cattle go wandering off randomly. Cattle (or zombies) wandering off randomly and creating their own ‘new’ traffic flows is not a good thing, that’s not the objective.
  7. This is a good point - I’ve noticed since lockdown. Families at festivals don’t travel light anymore. There’s a lot of big buggies/wagons and kit. There’s also more families taking kids at festivals like Glastonbury than I can ever remember. Where kids go free the numbers of big buggies certainly are at probably the highest they’ve ever been. I guess post being stuck at home with the kids, more people want to do festivals with their kids than leave them behind and escape from them for a few days. There’s also much more wagons for kids, I hardly see mothers carrying babies on hips anymore at festivals. And even if numbers are the same at festivals a lot of buggies in main stage arenas rapidly contract space.
  8. I found this a big phenomena at WOMAD last weekend. We literally heard people deciding to eat at a venue because it had a queue and thus they helped to generate a bigger queue which attracted even more people. The same even happened with toilets and water points - a long queue at toilets we overheard meant it was worth joining in with. Talk about consumerist crowd mentality.
  9. Nah, I’m too busy with the various other jobs I’m doing - but help out when I can
