Aye I'll probably go if they headline! I want to do 2 fests next year and thinking Download and Bloodstock (though I've got Arctangent next week so if they have a great line up again next year then dilemma!). Looking forward to see who Bloodstock announce later.

Machine Head are the secret band at Bloodstock. So can we put an end to those 'MaChIne HeAd DoNT dO FeStivALs' comments now.

Ah right thanks for info! Ithaca new album insanely good, hopefully they get a good Download spot. Aye looks like them. Tbh I don't know why everyone thinks they wouldn't play festivals as touring with Amon Amarth and The Halo Effect clearly shows they've moved on since the evening with shows.

2008 I thought the problem was they were in the process of buying the new land for the current site therefore it was a bit thrown together. But I didn't know about those bands then fair enough. As for RATM in 2010 I dunno they did a few other dates too but yeah not many.

RATM played 2010? Pearl Jam was actually leaked by Vodafone and then pulled out.

I'm not saying I distrust him. I'm just saying stuff changes. Like Pearl Jam were booked to play once and dropped out. And BMTH supposedly refused to sub Rammstein after being told they would headline.

I just mean in general he hasn't posted though. Like looking at his search post history he was quite active in threads about tours and stuff and now nothing. But I guess we just have to wait and see.

He hasn't posted since July 3rd. Yeah I know BMTH likely as you said. I'm just wondering if the double headliner thing was under negotiation rather than confirmed. If Rammstein are available then surely they get booked. I'm not saying it either way, just curious why it's been so long since he posted is all, plus the others who were attempting to drop hints have all gone quite too.

Noticed how Lee and the other 'in the know' people have gone radio silent on the main forums though? Not saying that info was wrong at the time but I dunno about Metallica doing X2 anymore. BMTH obvs was mentioned by another band to someone on here so seem likely. I'm just wondering if that leak was actually before anything confirmed and they actually have 4 now and have gone super strict on making sure it doesn't get out. I mentioned before that a Slipknot roadie posted on FB about their being 4. It's annoying as I actually know a guitar tech for one of the supposed bands playing I just haven't seen him since before Covid! And I don't think a random out the blue message on FB would be polite haha.

I reckon if Download did do dual main stages they have another tent. They'd probably stick 3rd stage up where second is atm, keep Dogtooth and add another smaller one. They actually used to have 5 anyway (the acoustic stage being 5th).

That's fair! In terms of ambition I dunno....If all those bands are available and doing European festivals (which they should be) then I think it's time Download adopt the European festival model of double stage.

With respect (I mean that genuinely 🙂 ) you've been quite vocal about Download's need for new headliners. If they do double main and have 4 new ones inc BMTH closing out Main 2 then that's a massive step for them towards sorting out their headliner problem. I think you should take that win rather than quibbling about BMTH, who believe me have just as many haters at Download as they do fans.

I'd say fact they are doing it at R+L would make it more likely for Download tbh.

Potentially requested by Download not to do it I would suspect. The fact they were rumoured to be in talks for Nova Rock too makes me think it's happening. Also, not that I'm happy about it, many bands separate UK from Europe now when talking about tours. I'm also really starting to wonder if Download are going double stage. Metallica x2, Slipknot and Rammstein headlining one stage. BMTH, Parkway Drive, Machine Head and Ghost other stage?

Rammstein have stated they will be touring Europe in 2023.

Swap MCR for Slipknot and your probably not that far off tbh! Expect a fair few of those will be there.

I'm probably just being restless tbh. I'm just wondering why he said stuff pretty earlier and now gone quite. Is that the norm for him? If Metallica do it twice there will only a day gap I think, to maximize time/money for them. Unfortunately Sepultura won't reform, too much bad blood between the brothers and the guitarist. Pantera I reckon Bloodstock if they come to Europe.

Oh man Slipknot always draw a humongous crowd at Download, no doubt they'd pack out the Thursday so I wouldn't say that's an issue.

I think that will be the Thursday. I'm questioning the Metallica Thurs + Sat prediction, because as (I think) you said before on Nova Rock. Tbh I'm starting to doubt they will even do a double set, this Lee guy on the forums popped up, said that stuff then has gone radio silent. Especially if Rammstein are in fact touring. Could see it being Slipknot - BMTH - Metallica - Rammstein. That would deffo qualify as going all out as Copping insists they're doing. Edit: That's not to say I don't believe him. But he could easily have seen info of Download and Metallica discussing a double set, leaked that, and then another band like Slipknot became available and they decided against the double.

I think if RATM and Rammstein are doing festivals you'd expect to see them at Download one of those 2 years. Also it went totally under the radar but a Slipknot roadie said on a Download Facebook group that there are 4 headliners this year (all other leaks say 3 though so he could have been talking bs).

That makes alot of sense if true. Be very surprised if Rammstein do a festival tour without doing Download but hey who knows.

Rumour mill seems to have dried up but signs still deffo point towards this. The only curveball I reckon could happen is throwing RATM in the mix or maybe SOAD but it's hard to know really.
