    BBC Coverage 2022

Was a great set and atmosphere, particularly when they got everyone to crouch down before the drop 🙌
  2. Off the top of my head I’ve heard people complaining about similar over-crowding at Bearded and Primavera. Could it be a combination of extra ticket sales to address rising costs, people sneaking in as desperate after years off and we are not as used to being in crowds as we used to?

The last sentence sums it up perfectly it to me. I’d be happy to watch Foals on the other. As much as I love the pyramid I don’t need the acts I love to play there. I’ve had a great time at all of the major stages over the years.

Left if for the end I think?

    BBC Coverage 2022

After a busy day… I’m in. Billie does nothing for me but fuck it’s good to see a Pyramid headliner ‘live’. Moved swiftly on to Little Simz which is probably where I would be - West Holts looks great, even if not that busy. Though I’d probably equally enjoy Foals if my partner was as in to them - glad I don’t really have to worry about clashes and compromises!

    Glasthomebury

Just wanted to say thank you to anyone who responded… one of the worst parts of not having a ticket is not having the communal experience on here. In a weird way this and the FOMO thread has given that. Looking forward to sitting down with a beer and watching the coverage later

    Glasthomebury

Apologies if there is another similar thread… but being without a ticket I haven’t been able to bring myself to come on here much lately. I really want to enjoy this weekend as much as I can anyway and I’m sure there will be others who feel the same. Not sure I can’t get full enjoyment from reading about people’e experience actually going to/at the festival but would love to hear about anyone trying to embrace it from home. We were originally going to go to a local (Derbyshire) festival but can’t anymore, so will be fully embracing the Glasthomebury spirit, tuning in to the BBC coverage etc. Anyone else?
  11. I respect when bands play sets like that (Placebo) as their fans will love it… but they must also know it makes them less attractive to your average festival goer and therefore organiser. If it is someone like Radiohead, who I personally really like, it’s great but if it is someone like say The Cure or Placebo (who I happen to have more of a surface level interest in) I’ll probably wander off… as I did (and don’t regret it).
  12. Appreciated this from the security team on the FB group, particularly about the woodlands queue and capacity. ‘Big thanks to you all from myself , our managers, staff, our close protection team, stage security … and not forgetting our support K9’s for being the best UK festival crowd we have the pleasure of keeping safe. This year was big for us as it’s the 1st BT since the pandemic, so we put extra security on to try and keep good order and most important.. the tent thefts low!! Well guess what… 0 reported tent thefts this year… that’s a British record ever for a major festival!! That number will not be beaten again in the history of festival security. I’m so proud of our team and for you for being so vigilant and honest! Refreshing Now.. I’ve seen a couple of niggles… toilets… it’s a festival… we use the same facilities as you guys…If you go out in the rain.. your gonna get wet right 😜 The woodland queue. Let me explain.. not that I have to.. but I want to…. Covid - 19.. yes it’s over… but certain areas we had to to be exact and click in and out.. to keep the authorities happy… and we had to keep the woodland capacity down by a tiny percentage That’s my call… on my head…. But I’m telling you something… we will always try and keep you and your children safe! If there’s a queue then that’s a festival… but I’d rather have a few moans about a queue than a Hillsborough or a Manchester arena incident!! Not on our watch! You are to good for us to allow anything like that! Have an amazing year and see you all in 4 seasons #sauk 💙’
  13. Agree with everything said really. Like others, I don’t love the fairground, unless they make it a bit more unfairground Glastonbury-Esque - it’s not just that it’s a fairground it’s also a very generic one when other parts have had time and effort to look so amazing like… the pirate ship, one of my favourite stages anywhere. As is Woodlands. Was a shame not see acts because of the queue but I only have myself to blame - once you knew the situation regarding queues you can plan around it. The local beers, prices and the fact you can also BYO was great too - all contributed to the friendly vibe. I also never thought karaoke could be a highlight of a festival for me but it really was - probably because Bearded folk are a talented and charasmatic bunch. Singing God save the Queen by the pistols in the jubilee week was a bold move but I was thoroughly entertained! Great festival, we’ll be back.
  14. I don’t think there is another artist whose albums I pay less attention to between tours but then thoroughly enjoy as much live - The Flaming Lips are consistently an absolutely spectacular live act. I don’t think you could have anyone better closing a festival 🙌👌
  15. The queueing for woodlands is less than ideal but otherwise having a lovely festival. Bob Vylan, Blackballed and Walt Disco (plus karaoke weirdly) highlights
  16. Yeah I heard similar, slightly concerning!
  17. Excellent. Had a couple of down pours in Derby
  18. Hope the rain stays away for those there today… some forecasts have it over the next few hours
  19. Small one here, but seems to be broadly the same as 2019 which is more detailed https://beardedtheory.co.uk/general-information/
  20. Following a couple of COVID test results 2 of our group have had to pull out and put the tickets on twickets https://www.twickets.live/block/385189847576193,2?utm_source=blockincatalog&utm_medium=email&utm_content=main_block_link&utm_campaign=Your Tickets Have Been Listed Link in case anyone is looking for some
  21. Little bit of light rain in my part of Derbyshire at the moment… but not unpleasant to stand out in or enough to affect the ground (beyond it making it slightly easier putting tent pegs in)
  22. As has been said, I have really missed posts like this. Excellent stuff
  23. Is it just me or have the weather forecasts dipped a bit (based on phone app and bbc app). That said the weather in Derbyshire has been consistently better than the forecast for about the last week…
  24. Apologies if I have missed it earlier (only recently decided to camp) but any recommendations for (general) camp sites? Normally don’t mind a bit of a walk for the sake of finding a bit of space. Are they pretty similar?
  25. Are the rules about your own booze basically the same as Glastonbury, you can take it anywhere but probably shouldn’t take the piss (and the bars are good)?
