  1. I have enjoyed visiting the Fluffy Rock Cafe over the years and have seen some great bands there (and had some good cocktails).  Was disappointed that it is no longer there..I wonder why and whether it will return.

sound was perfect where i was. doubt there were any speakers turned off, it was too loud at times, the little riff in The System... was extremely loud.

Oh thats strange..guess it depends where you are standing.  My friends were by the speakers further back and said they were turned off and that the sound was nowhere near loud enough! Did sound better further forward though.  They were also a bit disappointed by the choice of song to end the set, but apart from that really enjoyed them.

  3. Apparently the sound was not good for the National.  It appears that some of the speakers were turned off.  My friend was very annoyed about this!  Does seem a bit unfair that they would turn speakers off..not sure why they did this.

  4. The guys dressed as 'Three Trapped Tigers' were one of the winners (two dressed as tigers, and a stuffed tiger, complete with a cage they walked around in) but i didn't catch the name of the other winners. They were the guys dressed as a director, two camermen, sound guy and lighting guy, going up to people and getting them to act. Was very funny to watch :D

I'm going to be wondering all day now what band they represented!

  5. Twilight were my highlight!  What a great band Twilight Sad are.  Hadn't heard or seen them before but they were awesome. Also enjoyed the forest sessions late at night.  It was fun trying to work out what bands people had come dressed as.  The guy with the radio on his head was pretty obvious though...I wonder who won?

  6. As a fan of the heavier end of rock and metal im excited for the future of the festival as well, if Metallica play and it goes down without any disasters(which it will do) then hopefully that will encourage eavis to stop overlooking the rock and metal acts so much in future years, Glastonbury will never be a metal festival that's obvious but it would be good to see `rock` music booked a bit more or given maybe even its own little area in future like the dance crowd gets with silverhayes etc. I have to say itd be long overdue, due to paranoia and maybe beliving a bit to much in the stereotyping of the genre and the genres fans the Glastonbury crowd have missed out for years on not only one of the most fun. raw, powerful genres of music around but also some of the most talented musicons around

Well said! Totally agree with this.

  7. I go to Butlins Rock and Blues weekend in Skegness every January. Have been going for the past 6 or 7 years and its great fun. I also go to several weekends at Butlins Minehead, which is a lot closer to where I live. They have the Alternative Music Festival in the spring which often has punk bands such as the Damned, and the Giants of Rock this year which is new. Will definitely go to that one as I like both Hawkwind and Uriah Heep. I would recommend the weekends..the music usually starts in the afternoon and there are three main venues..its like a festival really but with no wories about the weather (and with a proper bed and a shower!)

  8. Right, I've sorted it.

Surely bands such as Motorhead, Saxon, AC/DC etc. with their millions of album sales; 35+ years of activity; and band members pushing retirement age, have earned their place in a certain Sunday afternoon slot on the Pyramid Stage?

I have a vision of a sea of grey, balding, ponytailed fans in band t-shirts sat on leather picnic blankets and black studded camping chairs.

Surely more popular in the UK than Kenny Rogers or Paul Simon, with at least as many "hits". The amount of chairs; age of fans; early slot would prevent any death rush or mosh pit action.

Do this for 3 years in a row, then this pointless argument about the presence of metal / hard rock at Glasto could be put to bed. Everyone's a winner?

  9. I think its a good point, as others have mentioned, re late night music. I like to dance till dawn but found that this year especially I was going home early as I wasn't keen on the music. Where I live there are quite a few late night venues playing rock, indie, blues or punk which I enjoy going to and I don't see why there can't be more of this at Glastonbury. As mentioned the Bourbon Blues Bar wasn't here this year which is a shame. A couple of years ago we had the Lunar Sea Stage for a bit of late night punk which again was not here this year. I do hope they return!
