  1. As a teacher I can only do Friday - Sunday so this price hike is making me consider a Euro festival instead. I missed out on 2019 tickets & went to Sziget instead & it was cheap, great fun, nice city & went on to Istanbul for a soapy wash down in a spa for less.

  2. If you weren’t there in 2008 you’ve not done Reading properly. As someone has mentioned, it was like Apocalypse Now, the closest I’ve experienced to frontline warfare.

But it was done sensibly & the crowd were looking out for each other, despite burning your mates tent & making sure the ice cream man was out of his van before pushing it over.

In Portsmouth now. Checked into hotel, parked up and settled in. Was raining couple hours ago when we first got here, but it's lovely now. Bring it on!

If you could possibly give any updates on weather/ground situation that would be awesome. I live near Southampton & the sun is shiiiiining!

Everyone who answered you so far are correct. Victorious site is mostly flat, with plenty of paths & roads suitable for a wheelchair. Currently in Portsmouth, we hardly had any significant rain, so the grass is hard, so you won’t have an issue getting around.

Me & friends have gone every year, taking our children, some in pushchairs & carts, so quite young and never really had a problem. We tend to sit towards the back/side in the quieter areas of the stages and never had issues with drunk teens. They are there, but never had any issues as we keep to ourselves.

victorious have raised platforms for wheelchair at the main stages, I think you need to apply to access them, but as your partner is in a wheelchair, I’m sure they would allow you access. I’ve mainly seen they castle stage one and it’s never crowded.

by the Avenue de Caen entrance, next to kids area is a welfare tent, and if I remember clearly, I think they had a wheelchair toilet there last year.

Thank you! My partner has emailed the fest to let them know of our situation. There’s no phone number as far as she can find, I’m sure we’ll be fine. She can walk but only at a hobbles pace & won’t be able to spend the day on her feet. Poor lass but her relapse has occurred after we bought tickets & she’s missed out on a holiday & Edinburgh Fringe so she wants to do something eventful this summer. I’m just glad we didn’t get Reading weekend tickets.

It’s a really inconsistent festival day-to-day as well. For example last year Sunday was way more chill than Sat.

Wheel chair access will be fine imo. Well laid out and the ground is rock hard. For food options go near the kids area - we find this way quieter than other areas.

I don’t want to sound negative, however Sunday is close to selling out (on their instagram) and has a higher percentage of youth friendly acts at the top end (Fender, Anne-Marie and Hill) and so the crowd could be at the irritating/selfish end of the spectrum I suspect.

But if you just intend to chill out at the back you’ll be fine.

It will be very interesting to see the crowds for Metronomy and Suede. I can imagine hordes of youngsters camping out front row spots for Fender meaning they may not have the most appreciative of crowds….hopefully I’m wrong.

Cheers! I’m debating on seeing Metronomy or using that time to wander around the world music stage & some of the smaller ones, food etc.

Most of the crowd is really sound but every year there seems to be more pissed up teens on site in huge groups. But they should keep themselves to themselves. It's a real mixed bag of ages. But this year I'm not sure there's too much for the older crowd as in 50+.

Getting around site should be fine, lot of concrete paths. Lot of places of site to chill at as well.

    Any other questions just ask

Thanks mate. That has given her a lot more confidence to go. We obviously will be staying towards the back for the crowds & chilling. Can’t think of any more questions it’s just keeping her happy! She is going to bring crutches too so if they take them off her will we kick up a fuss & she is bringing her GP/doctors certificate with her for her meds as well. We’ll probably just chill watching bands from the back. Thanks again

Bath and West showground will be where you’re directed.

If I was getting dropped off though I’d just jump out in the standstill traffic at Gate A.

Not much they can do to fight that surely?

Cheers, I did just this & worked a treat!

  8. Will be going for the Sunday with my partner in a wheelchair. What are the crowds like… as in demographic as we don’t want any hassle from teens or even adults falling over the place? First time going. Unless it pisses it down will a robust wheel chair be fine on site?

  9. Hi all. Been a while since I’ve posted. I have been very fortunate enough to be offered a lift by car to the festival due to the train situation.

Does anyone have any good suggestions where a good place to be dropped off & picked up from close to the festival where I could jump on a coach or bus to get to a pedestrian gate?

I heard there may be coaches or buses from Shepton Mallet.

  10. Sorry for this really random question but someone posted on here many moons ago about a friend of a friend who had been nominated to play Glastonbury as part of the ETC. For the life of me I cannot remember their name or find them on youtube & Google but it was an efests member who posted a link to their music.

    1) Probably pre 2015.

    2) The artist was a black male & under the age of 18 at the time.

    3) Grime/UK rap music at a fast pace.

    4) One video has him rapping walking through quite an affluent left area of London or Surrey.

Sorry that's not a lot to go on but I'd like to find his music again on youtube & pass it on to a friend. If anyone can work this out I'll buy them a drink.

  11. First day back at work today & it was good to catch up with people I’ve not seen for six weeks.

The school is expecting to see a spike in Covid cases when the kids return to school staggered from Monday through Wednesday.

Excited to be back but not looking forward to teaching year 7s who haven’t been in a school for almost 2 years & aren’t used to secondary school.

Oh & my pet Rosie moulted last night so I’m happy! Before & after pics.

  12. A random Indian family asked me to join them in their booth in Brighton one evening to watch Sean Lock with them whilst I waited for a gig I didn’t realise started at 11pm. I’m glad I did as it was brilliant.

Anyway, just rewatched Community & Park & Recreation (skipped the first season) on NetFlix.

Off to Leeds uni next Saturday, probably amidst a local lockdown 😂🤦‍♂️

I'm from the South East so will be a tough one whether to go Leeds or Reading next year

Go to Leeds. Even if the weather is crap it’s better, especially after the main acts have finished.

Cheers, Geography’s definitely my favourite subject so that’s good

Yeah exactly I think the overlap will help

I’m a Geography teacher now & what I say (a bit cheesey) is that Geography is everywhere. Make the most of fieldtrips, you will soon get to know your course mates better.

You’ll end up having lectures with other courses that overlap eg business studies, cruise ship management, geology (weirdos), surf science, physics, farmers (avoid) etc & then you might get a mentor for lab work.
