I wish they'd do that for Max Cooper. I've just watched his Live at the Acropolis set in YouTube and can't help but feel all that AV is wasted in the Far Out Tent 😂😂

Definitely worth a watch if you have a big telly (I wish mine was bigger).

Max did his AV set at Latitude in the Film tent a couple ofyears ago and it was stunning (to an embarrassingly small crowd of us) even in there, so anything bigger should be immense. Far Out screen and visuals actually looked quality last year for Slowdive's set up so for one I'm pretty optimistic. And it helps that I adore Max's tunes.

I would simply die with happiness if Joanna Newsom was confirmed

    Talented individual, but proper 'marmite'!

Rightly or wrongly, a significant cohort of EOTR regular attendees are still scarred by her last attendance there, mainly 'cos she pretty much insisted that every other stage / act was quiet at the time of her performance. No option, watch her with no alternative. For that reason alone, I personally hope she is nowhere near a GM line up.

  3. Maybe like a few others on here, looking forward to Allo Darlin tomorrow - has to be a decent chance that if they are proper alive again they'd choose, and be chosen, by EOTR. Remember them camping in among us mortals 'back in the day' at Larmer Tree.

  4. Late to this party, sorry, can't wait for next weekend after the high of Green Man - F@@k the Bank Hol eh?

No order top ten (not there Thursday):

Ezra, Geese, Angel, Caroline, Sylvie, Sculpture, Divorce, Panic Shack, Horse Lords, TMC.

  5. Unfortunately, although doing Settlers may have to join online meetings on the Wednesday.

Any advice welcome on coffee shops, hotels etc that could be a place to go with half decent wifi, and also that wouldn't mind me doing it (I'd buy coffees, sandwich etc through the day so not total freeloading).

Any recommendations for bands, especially from those who have seen them live, would be very welcome.

Just to tilt the axis, check out Squid, deathcrash, Butch Kassidy, Anna B and from a very retro perspective The Walkmen. All wonderful live.

It is looking pretty amazing tbh.

I take it you weren’t at the Garden stage last EOTR on the Friday eve then

That was my immediate thought. Have repeated this too often, but given that having seen that Garden headline set I'm still not sure I actually like them, nevertheless it was one of the most astonishingly brilliant things I have seen in a long time. And WHAT a moshpit!

Boygenius cant be headliners though surely?

They can for me, I'd be barrier!

Seriously, while I get their dedicated material is pretty limited, their collective catalogue (& Bridger's own pulling power) would justify. Watch the tickets go in seconds for their gig.

Caroline were great at Glastonbury last year, though there were only about 50 people watching them.  A cave sounds interesting.

I loved them last year at GM and EOTR, and can add that in addition - apparently - to caves they sound fab in a church?

fwiw I actually think the headliners are pretty decent, and there's enough exciting stuff buried in the lower end of the poster that makes me confident I'd find lots of great new acts I'm not familiar with.

I think the middle of the lineup is the weak bit - once you look past the headliners and Angel Olsen, there's no big/medium acts I'd be looking forward to at all.

This is about where it sits for me too. It's just missing one or two 'mid' gems like they have done before-  tea time Shame set on the Woods, Fontaines in the Big Top, PSB late night Big Top, Squid late afternoon Garden etc etc. As said above, I'm also hopeful that once Walkmen clear the majority of Koko gig tix they could be on.

But overall very happy, esp as caroline were one of my top 3 bands of 2022.

Could be coloured by my experience last year, but the fest feels on a bit of a downward slope scale wise, and certainly can't live with Green Man's financial clout and security

That is a really interesting topic! Guess I feel slightly lucky to be routinely heading to both, and while EOTR remain 'first love' (constantly since 2010) I also now adore GlenUsk. Green Man definitely 'bigger', but I still think that EOTR carries a clout well above it's gate capacity, not least with the artists it can pull in. Whether we all like them is another matter, and (personally) re EOTR it is always going to be hard to mirror the level of lineup from 2015. But that said thought overall last year EOTR shaded GM on overall music quality.
