  1. Can you not just blag it?

Two years ago I straight up went into my bosses office and said "Can i please leave two days early to go to Glastonbury?" He was fine with it.

Now admittedly, this was an international school at the end of term.

Are you back in work on the Monday? If so, fuck that.

  2. JR is a commentator.

You can have commentators for years and years, if they are good/legendary. ITV kept Murray Walker when they got Formula One, even though he was 73/4 at the time. And they would've gladly kept him for years if he wanted to carry on- even if he was starting to lose it at the end. In fact, sticking with the F1 example, I am convinced people disliked James Allen doing the F1 commentary because he wasn't Murray Walker. Same way people gave Michael Cole heat for years.

Also, think about what commentators people are fond of today. It's the old ones mostly, or the ones who have been there for years. It's also the one's people can name.

ITV Football? Clive Tyldsley. Sky Football: Martin Tyler. Cricket: Richie Benaud (and he's been dead for ages!), F1: Murray Walker or Martin Brundle . Golf: Peter Alliss. Darts: Sid Waddell (and he's been dead for years as well) etc etc.

People like familiarity in their broadcasters.

  3. The announcing has been atrocious on all levels the last few months.

I still like Mauro, and Nigel McGuinness is exceptional. But they don't use the best announcer they've had in years, which is William Regal. I can see why, but still.

  4. You won't get it in because if it's a good Shisha pipe it'll be glass at the bottom. And they don't let glass on the site lest you, or anyone, smashes it over someones head.

There are shisha places at the festival though.

Edit: Looked at pic. It's glass. Not a chance.

  5. There's a massive difference between filming 10 episodes and actually airing them. Not to mention airing them in a decent timeslot.

Also, don't forget. ITV ruins everything.

I thought it was a great Mania up until the last hour.

Seth’s entrance was BAD ASS. I loved the contact lenses.

Jinder winning is your yearly reminder that Vince doesn’t give a damn what you want (how dare they do that to Rusev on Rusev Day!)

Ronda’s match was hugely entertaining and stole the night to me. She’s going to be just fine, isn’t she? She is a star.

How totally and utterly pointless Cena vs. Undertaker was.

Daniel Bryan’s return was incredible, the pop, the chants, it was amazing. That’s your guy.

Total waste of Asuka’s streak and I didn’t see Nakamura’s heel turn coming but I dug it. He needs a mouth piece for sure, though.

    Nicholas

THAT MAIN EVENT. That main event was the single worst main event I can remember. The crowd shat all over it. They did not want to see that match and made it totally clear through their apathy. I think that was an audible on the night to have Brock retain. Just a shite match. The same moves over and over and over. The blood with Reigns was not needed (he was bleeding so profusely). Why repeat that Randy spot? It’s so dangerous. I would have rather Reigns won than Brock continuing to hold the title hostage. I am so sick of Brock Lesnar. WTF happens going forward now?

See what happens on Raw tonight. Lashley is back at some point.

I think Brock is under contract a while longer, although I know what everyone says, that he's done after Mania. But that's too obvious. As far as we're aware he's not in the USADA testing pool, so he can't come back and fight immediately anyway. I think they do Brock v Bobby, it's a semi-intriguing fresh matchup (UFC should've tried to book it. Amazed they didn't, especially after the Zuffa sale).

When a ten-year old boy shows better facials than your most pushed babyface, you know you're fucked. Reigns has to go away for a while, he's dangerously overexposed and has been for ages and ages, and finally come back and cut a promo on the fans.

  7. Who is staying up for Rusevmania on this most Rusev of all days?

    Just do the main show

Roman- not with the heel turn though because...

Sami and Kevin with Shane turning heel

    Nakamura

    Asuka

    NIa

    Bludgeons

    Finn

    Kurt and Ronda

    Braun

    RUSEV

Hogan’s gonna be Strowman’s partner lol

25th Anniversary of Hogan getting screwed out of the tag belts at Mania 9...

  9. Can't see a thread on this.

Looking to go to two days of Dour Fest. Thursday has BadBadNotGood and The Chemical Brothers, and Friday has Slowdive, Mogwai and Soulwax.

Anyone know what the situation is like with transport each night and what not after the event? Can't camp and have to be in Brussels very early Saturday morning to get to Rock Werchter Classic.

  10. Lawrence Taylor headlined Mania in his first match and was respectable.

Floyd Mayweather had a great match with Big Show in his only ever match.

There are ways it can be done.

  11. Enzo has also been released amid allegations of being a massive pain in the arse.

Surely the rape story is the last straw? Alienated backstage, very much lived his gimmick and not in a good way, and now this? A case where the accuser has put the details all over twitter, seriously damaging the case. (I'm not saying he's innocent or guilty, just that due process isn't taking place)

Rich Swann is 'only' indefinitley suspended, after all.

The Royal Albert Hall is pretty cool I have to admit.

    Yup.

Certainly fancy enough, and great fun on the floor with a decent crowd. I did both Foals gigs there in 2013. That was a fun day.

  13. The Gasometer in Vienna.  Seen Arcade Fire and Interpol in there, and it always amuses me that it is an abandoned Gasworks.

Metropolis in Montreal. Which is really tall but on the floor is very close to the stage.

Knust in Hamburg and the skeleton that hangs off the wall.

Den Atelier in Luxembourg. Which is a cracking small-medium sized venue with loud sound, and decent beer.

Gebaude 9 in Cologne is a filthy venue in the best possible way. Run down, ragged, down and dirty.

Darnforth Hall in Toronto. A decent sized old school musical theatre.

Columbiahalle in Berlin needs to be mentioned.

    Zurich Volkhaus as well.

And how could I forget Peyote in Instanbul? And the Barby Club in Tel Aviv????

    On outdoor venues.

    A-38 Tent at Sziget

The Forum in Vienna is class. It's this run down ampitheatre with all kinds of graffiti, old posters, and different food and drink options.

Du Pont Arena in Abu Dhabi is surprisingly good for an outdoor venue. Saw Chemical Brothers there and the sound was fantastic. Well managed as well, especially in the Middle East where these things have a tendency to go wrong.

In terms of just the UK

Albert Hall Manchester, Brudenell, The Haunt in Brighton, Bristol Academy, Hull Welly, Sheffield Leadmill, The Cluny in Newcastle, and Hammersmith Apollo.

Although lets be honest, London venues have never come close to The Astoria.
