  1. Rammstein are only playing back to back dates when in the same venue/city but I do wonder if Download could’ve chucked them a shitload of cash to make the exception and play there the night before/after their France show. Probably unlikely, but given Downloads increasingly lack of options and there being no U.K. date on there, I wouldn’t totally count it out that they get them as a EU festival exclusive or some such.
  2. Hmm that shakes things up a bit. Wonder if both Rammstein and Maiden were the original plan but both fell through or if it was duff info from the get go. No Rammstein is a shame as they’re not as ever present as a lot of other headliners and obviously deliver a hell of a show, but Maiden are f**king always there so not the worst thing if they’re out (well… guess that depends on who actually is playing. SOAD again would be pretty tragic).

I highly doubt it. The festival had to fork out mega bucks for it to happen ten years ago and I can’t see them wanting to do that again. Consider them well and truly ticked off.
  4. They’re hinting at being active on their socials so I wouldn’t rule them out just yet.
  5. Everybody knows if you’re gonna do a fake Download lineup you should avoid all of the acts that were on the previous years poster… …but go ahead and copy and paste the poster from year prior to that and you’ll be pretty much spot on.
  6. Man I was already getting the weepies from Sufjan’s album and then he posted that. Heartbreaking and moving stuff. Guy’s had one f**ker of a year. Album is incredible.

I’d put them in the same bracket as GnR as in ‘if a bunch of other options fall through maybe they’ll get the call, but otherwise probably not’. I’d most likely go and see them if they were ever booked because I’m definitely not paying to see them at their own shows, and I’m sure they’d turn in a good set, but it’d largely be a crowd waiting to hear those five songs from Ten that they’d play and then twiddling their thumbs for the remainder.
  8. Just announced as headliner for Wide Awake at the end of May, as well as releasing three songs from their new album. Loving this direction they’re taking:
  9. Considering they were apparently booked and then dropped from this year it’s probably unlikely that they’ll be rebooked.

I wonder how much Glastonbury offered them. John Giddings made that little comment about IOW managing to get them over Glastonbury in 2015 because they paid up so I wonder how much that was and far out Glastonbury was. Seems like a real missed opportunity… but then there’s every chance they wanted some insane amount that Glastonbury was never gonna be able to meet.
  11. Seems kind of unbelievable for it to be that low… although they wouldn’t be the first act to complain about Glastonbury’s low pay offers.
  12. Not to dismiss this, but they really don’t strike me as an act who would be booked for the Park, even early doors. Sound much more like a Woodsies kind of deal. £100 though. Is that really all bands are offered for (presumably) opening sets on one of the five main stages? Yeesh if true.
  13. Nah, not a good fit for Primavera at all.
  14. I think it’s maintained it but not necessarily increased it. The first album came with a huge wave of ‘new main pop girl coming out of nowhere and releasing a string of hit singles straight off the bat’ about it, whereas the new one is more of the same - not as surprising or out of nowhere, but still excellent and sure to keep the fandom happy. The second two singles haven’t made the same impact that Good 4 U and Deja Vu did, but overall I think the album’s a better version of what she was doing before. Maybe she’ll change things up a bit with the third one, although tbf she could probably get away with milking this sound for a bit longer.
  15. So glad to hear it’s gone back to the old way of paying. I’d more or less written myself off of going if they’d kept that new way but clearly they’ve seen how it can be used to the advantage of large or organised groups and absolutely f**k those going solo or in small groups.
  16. Say She She album is great. Hardly reinventing the wheel from what they were doing before, but they just do it so well. Hour runtime flew by.
  17. Seems like it’s just a bit of a throwaway song to go along with these Vegas shows they’re doing, but still, it’s another in a long line of toothless rockers that they’ve been releasing for the better part of fifteen years now. And yeah, just a sh*t Blondie knock off.
  18. Good sh*t. Gaga sounding ace on this:
  19. I’ve not listened to either album enough to get a proper grasp on what the best and/or worst songs are, although I’m fairly certain like most double albums that it would’ve been a much better single album, and one of my favourite music writers Steven Hyden agrees and has done just that. Thoughts?: https://uproxx.com/indie/the-national-laugh-track-first-two-pages-of-frankenstein-combined-album/
  20. There’s always a chance one of those bookings fell through, but tbh I don’t think Emily would’ve said it unless she was pretty confident that they had two female acts locked in so I think it’s still on.
  21. I really don’t think they’re in line to headline the Pyramid, but an argument could be made for the other slots: Would make a great Pyramid sub and deserve a shot at that stage again before they pack it in, although they’d be a bigger sub than we usually get. If we’re still getting two female acts headlining (and assuming they’ll both be pop-leaning) then they’d make a great counter act on Other one night. Or if the festival is gonna continue with the big ‘secret’ acts on the Pyramid, then they’re an obvious contender after being absent this year.
  22. Yup, well and truly taking advantage of her current massive success and the stan culture that’s come with it. I do really like her music but truly hate everything else she represents as far as stardom goes. Crosses the line from ‘getting your bag’ to just being plain exploitative.
  23. So, they gonna sub the Pyramid, headline Other, or be given the Churnups treatment for real next year?
  24. Pulp confirmed to be continuing in to 2024. Surely gotta be a lock for this.
