    2024 Headliners

Nah. They stumbled with Ultra Mono and brought it back a bit with Crawler, but I can’t see how they’re gonna ascend any further than they have, and this new single doesn’t scream ‘bold new push’ to me - it just sounds like pretty much every other post-punk band who dabbled with a electronic/disco edge, aka almost all of them. Woodsies headliner seems perfect for them.

Nah. Can see them topping Woodsies for sure but no way are they headlining Other. Feel like they’ve plateaued rather than continuing to rise up lineups.
  3. Eh, if anything Sonisphere showed that there truly aren’t enough metal headliners to go around and any festival that tried to muscle in again would inevitably meet the same fate as Download has the name recognition. Download having one of Green Day/Blink/FOB as a headliner every once in a while isn’t gonna damage the festival imo, and it opens up the headliner pool without resorting to bumping up acts who are too small to do so which they clearly don’t want to do - even Ghost, who seem like the best chance of a step-up at this time, still seem a way off in comparison to the size of act Download usually has headline.
  4. For a festival that has been so reluctant to move away from its metal roots I just can’t see them booking two pop/punk acts to headline in the same year out of nowhere, although booking one would definitely be a good idea both to broaden their headliner pool and capitalise on the resurgence it’s been having these last few years. If they manage to finally book Green Day then they’ve pulled a blinder.
  5. Also definitely don’t see it being both FOB and Green Day - one of the two maybe, but both in the same year (and with A7X as the third who are hardly a top tier headliner) just seems like a long shot and asking for uproar.
  6. On the contrary, I really don’t see it being Fall Out Boy. Even for a festival that should probably be leaning a little further in to the pop/punk side of things, they veer a bit too much on to the pop side imo and would just be a little at odds with what Download is usually about. Not to say that they couldn’t be the act to open the door to Download’s much needed change-up, but as it stands they seem like a strange fit to me, although I’d be happy to be proven wrong if only to show that the festival is finally willing to stray outwards a little.
  7. Where else are they gonna play? This is the problem with there not being a big second stage/tent - acts who would usually be headlining or playing high up it are now playing the main stage instead, which leads to acts like Bicep playing middle of the day and it just being a bit odd. Although that said, Pendulum played third down at Download and I believe it went down very well.
  8. Yeah nailed on for Reading/Leeds.
  9. Yeah Creeper are ace. They’ve dropped the more My Chemical Romance/emo aspects of their sound and upped the goth rock/Steinman to great effect. I loved their previous stuff but this new album is a notch above them imo. And yeah, that first song is a doozy.
  10. TikTok got hold of her so she’s acquired a pretty big younger fanbase and is no longer the indie darling she was a couple of years back so even with those prices I’m sure these dates will sell out no problem.
  11. Very much depends on if they’re wanting to do the big TBA acts on small stages or are gonna stick to this years plan of only having smaller TBAs on the small stages. Liam doing Definitely Maybe would be insanely popular so I’m guessing that’s something they’d want to avoid.
  12. Liam Gallagher is not doing the legend slot 😄
  13. Can’t imagine he’ll come back to sub again, especially if he’s touring DM, but a secret set of some kind, maybe next years Churnups, would be great - the perfect set you want from Liam, really.
  14. I think it’ll do alright. Neither act has done an extensive U.K. tour in years and the pair of them together is a very sweet deal for some (e.g. me). Assuming they’ll both just be knocking out the hits it’ll be a great time.
  15. Been waiting for both Pumpkins and Weezer to do a proper UK tour for years and now they’re doing one together?! Yes please!

If Madonna isn’t happening next year then she isn’t gonna happen at all imo, which is why I’m semi confident that it is happening as I think the stars have finally aligned after Emily has obviously pursued her for some time. If we didn’t have that two female headliners tidbit then I’d be a lot less confident, but given that we do I just think Madonna makes heaps of sense. Need more tour dates to put her in the right place and right time, but none of the other suggestions other than Dua being the other female act really add up to me. Here’s hoping.

Some funny and downright puzzling inclusions/omissions in there - Die Another Day + some album track from American Life instead of Borderline, Music, Frozen, Papa Don’t Preach, Material Girl, Like a Virgin etc… but suppose we should’ve expected she was gonna get a little bit weird with it, and even with those huge hits missing it’s still pretty jam packed full of bangers. She seems to have gone down the ‘career retrospective’ route rather than sticking directly to the hits.

Emily’s Instagram activity never lies - Madonna nailed on.

I doubt she would’ve done this whole thing if she was planning to play fast and loose with what are considered her hits. Not gonna be seeing a wealth of stuff from the likes of MDNA over Like a Virgin - you advertise the hits, you suck it up and give people the hits, even if your ego does take a bit of a bruising when only one song from your last three albums makes it in to the setlist.

Nah, I really don’t see him being in the mix again any time soon. He was an outlier as far as Pyramid headliners go and, although still hugely popular, has only gotten naffer over time. Doubt the festival would pursue him again unless they were low on options.
  22. I know Primavera gets a pass in this regard given its multiple headliners per night, but The National again would be so dull. It probably will happen as they’re just such an easy booking with a guaranteed fanbase at the festival and now have two new albums to play from, but it just seems soblazy to have a headliner on an every-other-festival schedule.
  23. More new Blink. This one sounds like a One Direction song or something. Might just be the awfully compressed audio on this video but the production sounds terrible. Released properly tomorrow so hopefully it’ll sound a bit better then, but not digging this one all that much: https://reddit.com/r/Blink182/s/nj7cJtOhJN
  24. Seems like the perfect year for The National to headline Other what with our presumed two pop acts headlining the Pyramid. I’d almost definitely end up missing them, but they’re the most obvious option of an opposing guitar headliner I can think of.
  25. Rather annoying that her tour film is coming out in cinemas before we get the tour itself. Seems like it’d be a blast to go and see on the big screen and is getting glowing reviews, but no way am I having the entire show ruined for me. Suppose I’ll have to settle with it on home release, unless they decide to bring it back to cinemas in a years time.
