    2024 Headliners

Pretty sure I’ve seen a similar article at least once for the last five or so years, two new albums included, so we shall see. Might shake up the Madonna talk, but could also be something to look at for ‘25 depending on the timeline of her comeback.
  2. Surely Pumpkins won’t be supporting Green Day if they’ve got their own big shows to sell? The moment those Green Day shows are announced the Pumpkins own shows would suffer sales-wise, and looks like they’re already struggling with half the venues. Think it’ll be a different lineup when Green Day come here.
  3. Yup, yet another way for these huge corporations to f**k the fans. Same as it ever was.

Have Justice really grown in size since they did Holts in 2017? If they returned, which I’m not so sure they would so soon, I think they’d end up back there again, and besides, surely it’s time for Chems to return, even if their ‘every four festivals’ pattern did get somewhat mucked up by the pandemic.
  5. So the singer from Staind is doing well these days:
  6. I don’t think they’ll ever do it as the ‘damage’ is already done re: them being the brunt of the joke for like twenty years now, but yeah I think most people (myself included) can admit they’re not nearly as bad as we all like to pretend and in fact have some good songs (Never Again and Too Bad off the top of my head both bang). But yeah, even now that they’re no longer public enemy #1 in the music world, them being announced would still be met with a whole load of stupid responses and they seem to be happy enough largely avoiding festivals and just doing (and selling out) their own shows.
  7. Yeah there’s zero chance Madonna is doing Primavera.
  8. The tickets for Cardiff Castle were £82.50 similar to the other venues but it seems to have pretty much sold out and so the increased prices you’re seeing are dynamic pricing or resellers at work.
  9. Gonna have to make sure I check out Downloads social media when/if they announce that trio as I imagine the reaction is gonna be overwhelmingly negative, but I suppose they’ve only done it to themselves by refusing to budge on headliners for so long until they’ve finally had their hand forced in to booking two very un-metal headliners at once.
  10. London date is a Saturday so makes sense that that one is selling fairly well. Some of the others not so much.
  11. £85.50 on seetickets. Sure that inflated price isn’t tickets being resold?
  12. QOTSA would be surprising. Like, they certainly should be in the equation to headline given the small pool of available acts, but that should’ve been like ten years ago. Can only imagine they were a late fill-in if they’re actually headlining next year. Not a stellar set of headliners either way.
  13. And it’s easy to forget what with a lot of what came after but Definitely Maybe is an excellent album (for the most part). Seeing Liam live and being guaranteed all those great songs and zero/minimal solo stuff is a good deal.
  14. Yeah think that had something to do with it, and Tom’s voice has been f**ked for a long long time. I’m no audiophile or anything but it was something I noticed immediately when they released Edging and it’s really apparent through a lot of the album imo and kind of sucks the life out of some of the songs as they sound too robotic.
  15. Played this year so won’t be back until at least their next album run.

Yep pretty sure that’s still his deal. Suppose there’s no point springing for a big production and other musicians if he’s still selling out stadiums on his lonesome.

No chance. Coldplay bring a spectacle with them. Sheeran brings f**k all. Plus his music has got noticeably more naff and in to basic mum-pop as he’s gone on. I just don’t think he’d be high on their list of returning acts given what he brings to the table.
  18. Probably a bit too big. Other opener seems to be for the really washed up type acts, whereas Elbow still seem to be doing alright.

If he comes back I don’t think it’ll be for a long time. There was a certain novelty about him headlining - just a guy with a guitar and loop pedal - that was fine for a one off but hardly set the world alight and I doubt they’ll be scrambling to have him back doing that same sh*t again. Maybe a secret set, but hopefully just not there at all.
  20. Can’t imagine they’ll be back so soon taking up another high slot and they only did a secret set a few years back.
  21. Imo Travis’ production drags down a lot of the new Blink album. Like I know both Tom and Mark have never had the strongest voices but my god is the auto tune jarring at times, as well as the general sound of a lot of the album just being so compressed and overly poppy. Suppose they didn’t have much of a choice given he’s been producing a lot of the new wave of pop punk coming out, but Travis really should’ve stuck to the drums on this one. Not the big home run I was hoping for, but there are enough good songs for it to not be a total disappointment.
  22. Pearl Jam I can understand as they’ve been iffy over playing predominantly metal festivals ever since the Roskilde incident. Foos just seem to prefer to alternate between their own stadium shows and Reading/Leeds (with Glastonbury now in the mix).
  23. Surprised about Foos given Dave’s affinity for all things metal, even if Foos aren’t the most metal band themselves. Huge shame about Pearl Jam though, especially with it being out of the festivals hands.
  24. Was there ever any reason given as to why Pearl Jam fell through the previous times they were seemingly booked and then bailed? Them along with Foos seem like such obvious ‘really should’ve happened at some point but just haven’t for whatever reason’ headliners.
