If rumours are to be believed, she’s taking over the mantle of Black Panther in the second film, so this continuing revelation is uhh… interesting, as it seems she’s locked in for a fair few films now so probably won’t be receiving the same treatment from Disney that Gina Carano got for her batshit views. Sucks to be everybody else on that film set knowing her nonsense is just gonna have to be tolerated for years to come.

He subbed WH in 2014. Tbh I’d be more inclined to say he’s a Park headliner these days, although maybe I’m underselling him. One of those acts who’s popularity always surprises me when he reappears every album cycle.

Black Widow free to watch on Disney+ for those who haven’t yet seen it (or who just want a rewatch like me). Not sure if this is how it’s always gonna be or just because of the pandemic/less people going to the cinema etc, but I’m loving this quick cinema/streaming turnaround for Marvel (and other Disney) stuff.

I know Pitchfork is essentially just a meme these days, but some of those down/upgrades to scores are hilarious. Grimes getting downgraded just a year after the initial review. Interpol downgraded essentially because they’re no longer cool. And basically just a whole lot of ‘Yeah old Pitchfork writers were fucking arseholes’. Glad to see they didn’t revise the monkey pissing in its own mouth review for Jet, though. A classic.

I’m sure a discussion has been had at some point that’s basically involved them asking to headline, being told no but they can play lower down, them rejecting that offer and that being the end of that.

Largely because they were just aping the grunge sound that was still taking off far more over there than here because we were all up in Oasis and Blur by that time.

Funny you put Rihanna on the ‘little to no chance’ list as I’d say she has far more of a chance of doing it than almost all of the other stuff you’ve listed (apart from Dua), if she actually ever tours again, that is. Not gonna go through the list saying why they each won’t do it, but… I’d be very surprised to see almost any of those acts make it up to Glastonbury headliner, although that’s based purely on their current booking ‘policy/pattern’ which may well need to change as the well dries up so I guess we’ll see. edit: actually, scratch some of that… the likes of Olivia and Rina I could see possibly make that jump at some point, maybe.

Ehhh I dunno. I go back and forth with her being a viable option, but right now she seems a long way off getting the gig again. Maybe that’ll change come a new (and hopefully bit more successful) album down the line, but tbh I think she’s kind of plateaued. I’m sure I’ll swiftly have my mind changed or be proven wrong, though.

Wherever they played, they’d pull one of the (if not the) biggest crowds the festival has ever seen. They’re not gonna headline, but if they were willing to accept third down or even the Legend slot then it would be a ludicrously fun hour and a bit of wall to wall cheese and bangers.

I absolutely love that album. If it weren’t for what came after I think it’d be looked at as a truly incredible final album, but unfortunately instead it’s to be constantly ignored in the conversation. Ah well, I still listen to it often and am still blown away by how good it is.

I’d be lying if I said any hype I had for anything GOT didn’t go out the window with the final season, but I’ll be going in to this with pretty low expectations so maybe it’ll turn out to be alright:

Thought she might’ve pop’ed it up a bit, maybe even a bit disco as is the trend at the moment. I’m fine with her sticking to what she knows, but I was certainly expecting a bit of a change-up in some capacity.

Unless there’s a sudden dubstep drop not long after this snippet, it sounds like we’re gonna be getting classic Adele rather than any real change up (for this single, at least).

Looking forward to hearing what sound she goes with for this album. She may well just stick to what she knows and we’ll just get more sadbangers, but I’m kind of expecting a bit of a change up this time, even if it is only a subtle one.

Tbf, Pink would be sick if she did any kind of greatest hits set, but she isn’t gonna be booked to headline, so the best she/we could hope for is a third down the Pyramid type deal if the festival were to offer it to her and she were to accept. In another timeline she might’ve been booked to headline at some point earlier in her career, but I think the boat has been missed on that one.

Dua completely slipped my mind. Yeah she’s surely close in line to do it. At one point I thought Madge was in the running but judging by her apparent insane Eurovision fee and general car crash persona I just don’t see it ever happening, and that’s probably for the best.

Although I’m sure they’d get her if they could, after Gaga, what female headliners would we have left for future festivals? Obviously Billie came out of nowhere so nothing to say it couldn’t happen again, but outside of rebooking Beyoncé or Adele, I think they’d be pretty stuck for another female headliner for some time.

Neil (eFestivals) has info that Billie, Macca, Kendrick is our trio. He got Billie right so pretty likely that the Kendrick info is right too.

Slam Dunk?! 😄 I know she’s got a bit of a pop-punk thing going occasionally but really don’t see that happening, even if they have had the tendency of having Busted/McFly as secret sets.

Three relatively ‘new’ and U.K. based WH headliners there. Has there been a year recently when we haven’t had an oldie? Any reason to think Isley Brothers won’t be back?
