    SHUFFLE DOWN FESTIVAL 2017

Shuffle Down Festival will return for it’s 3rd year running and will return to the Dobbie Hall on May 20th

The event is one of the biggest independent alternative music events in the local calendar and has attracted over 500 music fans for the previous 2 years.

The stunning main Dobbie Hall stage plays host to several live acts throughout the day with a 2nd stage upstairs “The Cloud Room" showcasing solo acts during the day and live electronic music into the evening.

As well as the music there will be some fabulous Arts & Crafts stalls selling some great music related trinkets, art and clothing, The Shuffle Lounge chill out area and several bars around the building including local brewery Tryst Brewery who will be hosting their own bar selling real cask ales, craft beers and cider. Outside will be a Live Street Food Tent selling gourmet sausages, venison burgers and lots more with produce supplied by local butchers R.Brown & Son. There will also be more with an Artisan Coffee stall hosted by The Common Grind.

    Main Stage
Scottish band of the moment 6-piece Soul pop rock outfit Pronto Mama, rock and roll trio Miracle Glass Company will return to the festival after wowing the crowd last year, Americana Country act Have Mercy Las Vegas will be sure to have the hall jigging.

Falkirk based acts include; 7-piece indie folk act Fly Jackson, indie rock outfit Fairweather & The Elements, rock band Weird Decibels and fast rising indie band Ghøstwriter.

Finally Glasgow indie dance-punk giants Mickey 9s, will close the day’s music!

    The Cloud Room
Bristol based Scot Lonely Tourist, hugely talented solo artists Adam Stafford, Robbie Lesiuk Music and acoustic star Kieran Fisher Music will play the Cloud Room day time session, with the electronic music coming from techno songstress HQFU, the mysteriously masked Kvasir, Edinburgh live electronic act EARfATHER and local acid barons Arc/wlf and electronica act Circling with Defence records boss OnTheFly and Jamie Irwin on DJ duties.

The day starts at 2pm and tickets are priced at £19 and available from www.shuffledown.co.uk, Noise Noise Noise on Vicar Street and Stirling Cycle Hub.

£1 from every ticket sold will be donated to a Larbert based charity Kidney Kids Scotland and the event hopes to raise a few more pounds for the charity on the day of the event.

The Dobbie Hall is a stone's throw from Larbert train station with great links to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling and more.

  3. Only quams:

Friday, we arrived at 4pm and they were still setting up the place, cars and vans flying around the site and I couldnt get a pint til 5pm, was gasping! 5 of our crowd were only doing the Friday so wasn't the greatest for them, we somehow never seen any bands either (we did leave a bit early though as we had young ones) Basically paid £30 to hear Aiden Moffat say "C*nt"

Also was no band schedule, just a rough running order, headliner on Saturday came on at 7pm (we cancelled our 11pm bus home as we didn't want to miss any of it thinking he was on later!)

Was all a bit airy-fairy but good at the same time, sometimes the chaos was fun, I think the final £98 ticket price is a bit on the expensive side though.

Was cool site, has potential to be good wee festival. Think the organisation could have been better.

Sound systems/Toilets/Food was all spot on.

  4. I spent about £200 on food & drink Fri-Sun, could have been a whole lot less but we didn't have our own booze as we flew down late Thursday and our planned trip to Tesco Friday morning didn't happen!

If I include the whole package (tickets, flights etc.) I'm looking at £800 for the weekend!!

If you are prepared to carry around a carry out and cook a lot of your own food it could easily be cheapest (large) festival out there.

  5. Agree with the comments about location, was fantastic. Worth a fair chunk of the cash alone.

    Toilets:

Think if they added some urinals it would help the toilet queues, wasn't much further to the Park ones though. But as mentioned earlier were ok once more were added.

Also would like to add all the staff and security were all very pleasant people!!

What is the deal the Tipi area further along nearer the Park Stage?

  6. Thoughts on the Tipi Field this year?

We arrived late Thursday so had a Tipi right down at the fence, Tipi was fine although only 4 of us, would have been tight if there was 6, the guy said we could have a larger one but was right next to toilets.

Anyway the amount of abuse and negative comments we got was hilarious, some of it good humour but some people were pretty pathetic, couple of people at 5am Sunday morning stayed outside the fence for over an hour trying to keep the Tipi dwellers awake (those who were asleep anyway!) Anyway that didn't bother us much was quite funny.

Think there was only 8 toilets at start of the weekend, fair play they got some more but should have that them from the start.

Heard a few people saying the facilities were a lot worse than previous years?

I think for £900 a tipi they should have better facilities, I ended up just using the Long Drops near the Park most of the time and I didn't have a shower once as the queues were too long.

I still enjoyed it and would probably do it again if I had the money!!

  7. was wondering the same, but in previous years (non tipi) you dont get an option where you park, as long as your in West Carparks, prob best, and then aim for Ped gate D or E (not sure if you can get in E, but would be best)

  8. So what car park are we heading for, and how long a walk are we talking? Trying to work out roughly what time we can get to Tipi office!

  9. I like your way of thinking!

We are flying down from Glasgow late Thursday night, would have been a pain finding a spot setting up tents in the dark. I just hope we can get there before the Tipi office closes!

  10. OK another Tipi question...

We might be arriving late on the Thursday, could be as late as 1am by the time we get to Tipi Field (assuming we get a Tipi of course)

I noticed on another thread the Tipi office closed at midnight?? Can anyone shed any light on this, would we be able to get our 'keys' at that time in the morning??

    Cheers

EDIT: Or if anyone knows the Tipi company I could maybe ask them direct, need to find out before booking any flights!

  11. We are flying down with Easyjet and hiring car at the airport, working out reasonably cheap between 4 of us. (about £100 for car hire)

Got a taxi from Bristol airport in 05 and worked like a dream, was only £40 for taxi and he stopped off at bevvy shop for supplies.

Coach in 07 took about 13hrs and was very grim!!

  12. High possibility that we might not be arriving until Friday :(

Anyway in 2005 I got flight from Edinburgh to Bristol and taxi from airport direct to site, taxi was £40 and he done a booze stop! Was pretty quick and easy.

Any idea how much for a taxi these days?

Or if anyone has any alternative routes please let me know, ie flying into London instead?
