  1. They are offences covered by the amended Sexual Offences act
  2. Christ that sword looks heavy. Do you think she can crush walnuts bare handed
  3. The guy filming seems an absolute delight. Not only an antivaxxer but claims lock down. Surprised he didn't mention 15 minute cities and chemtrails
  4. I survived the alert test. Hope you are all safe.
  5. I once smacked a boss that poked me in the chest.
  6. When I graduated in Biology there were a lot of incentives to do the 2 year maths teaching conversion course as well as bonuses when you started work. Its always been a difficult area to fill vacancies.
  7. Sounds an interesting figure but I would be more interested in the detail. I presume Universal Credit will be scrapped so people will pay for their own housing. Then you vector in no Council Tax reduction either. It could lead to some social mobility as people could afford to pay higher rents than uc would pay for though. I am not sure on the 25k figure though. It does seem high and would it be taxable?
  8. Just been using my mobile data via Giffgaff and I am banned. Using the WiFi in spoons and I am OK. Its not causing me to self harm but does it mean I can't use Giffgaff as I rely on that at home.
  9. Does Keir Starmer think the Dalai Lama should go to prison? https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/apr/10/dalai-lama-apologises-kissing-boy-suck-his-tongue-video
  10. I'd probably switch to Green maybe Liberal at a push.
  11. You are right context is everything. Before I had my stroke 10 years back I was studying Forensic Psychology while working as a counsellor with sex offenders. I took a keen interest in the sentencing guidelines as not all offences are equal. The guidelines take many things into account both from the victims side and the offenders. Should an 18 year old go to prison for drunkenly feeling up a 15 year old? ts not for me to say as that is a decision made by the court based on the evidence and reports by the probation service and factors like if the offender pleaded guilty. I do find it disingenuous of Labour as they fail to mention that those that are sentenced to prison are getting longer terms. Also last year guidelines were changed to allow for prison sentences for attempted assault and even sentences for sexually communicating with an under 16.
  12. Things can't get any worse. Our landlady found out she could charge double the rent if she got rid of us. We couldn't afford anywhere near the rents been charged atm and benefits nowhere near would cover them. The landlady very kindly took us to court for the eviction of which we have to pay the court costs of nearly a grand. So eviction day came and we had nowhere to go. We arranged with the landlady to collect all our belongings within a fortnight to put it all in storage (the contents of a 3 bedroomed house). The council hadn't sorted any temporary accommodation so we left to stay in a Travelodge with what we could carry in a rucksack and our cat. Travelodge allow pets which is handy to know. After a couple of days in the Travelodge we got an email from the landlady telling us she had disposed of all our belongings. Everything. 40 years of accumulation of stuff including furniture, books and music. All Sent to the tip. More than that she was billing us for the 3 grand it cost in skips and labour. She put this on the rent account along with the grand in court costs. So feeling a tad demoralised a few days later we got the offer of the temporary accommodation we find ourselves in at present. Unfortunately they don't accept pets but luckily my daughter found someone to foster the cat. But within a week of him been there he managed to get out and lose himself. We have been here 3 months but as we owe money to the landlady we don't qualify for social housing so things are looking bleak. On a plus I don't have bills to pay outside of food so I am able to save and my son is trying to get back to work so after a while we should have enough to pay a good wedge towards a house as landlords are asking we pay 4 or 5 months in advance as we don't have a guarantor. Oh did I mention the cat. We got a phonecall from a vet who got my number from his chip. He had been brought in after been hit by a car and was dead. This made me sad. Still mustn't grumble
  13. I am in a homeless hostel that is used by asylum applicants as well.It is single roomed, no communal areas or cooking facilities. There are daily room inspections and there is an 11pm curfew. I won't bleat on too much sufficed to saybit is rather unpleasant. However personally I wouldn't mind going on a cruise ship or even into old military barracks. The impression is that these are torrid conditions and as long as they don't get overcrowded they are far from it compared to where I am. Decent rooms, communal and recreation areas and the gyms may still be in place as well as food. The Tories give it the impression that this is basic accommodation but from what I can see it is better than what they can expect once their applications are sorted.
  14. I'd be interested to know how she poses a security threat. But we live in a system where murderers snd rapists are released and are monitored or allowed to join the police force. Surely that would be applicable here.
  15. We had a coal fire and the miners strike meant no supply and some chilly nights. Wood was in short supply and cost more.
  16. I may be wrong but I am certain you need a 2.1 to get into teaching now. It was looked at as s last ditch job when I graduated in 2000
  17. Not all nurses are caring. That's a fact unfortunately. If I was there you would have got a hug. That's serious btw oh and you would have gitba blanket
  18. I don't want to get into an argument but mental health is a poor example for the NHS. I trained in the 80's in old style hospitals. I was there when they announced "Care in the Community". A fantastic idea with promises of more funding for social care. Funding decreased dramatically for mental health services and this has never been covered by social care. The funding for mental health services comes direct from government. This is a reason care trusts outsource to charities. Don't get angry at how the NHS spend their cash. Get angry at funding.
  19. No consolation but you are right about the nurses. I once worked on an elderly ward during flu season and we lost 10 souls in a week. It was an old psychiatric hospital in the middle of nowhere and it was deep snow and day staff took to sleeping on the ward so they could help out the night staff. I was lucky as I lived on site but we put staff up on our living room sofa bed and floor. For all the ills of the NHS nurses do really care.
  20. I had my cataract surgery through an outsourced company that only deals with NHS patients. Aside from delays due to Covid as a service user it was a very positive experience. A great many of the services I access such as mental health services are charity based
  21. The whole Harry thing is extremely tiresome. I honestly could not give a flying fuck.
  22. Is that one near Thetford still on the list?
