  1. Agreed, I don't think they will have changed anything. Just thought that "Incoming Shortly" sounded more specific.
  2. The pledge was to spend 28b every year starting as soon as Labour got into government: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2021/sep/27/labour-promises-spend-28bn-year-tackling-climate-crisis "Reeves, the shadow chancellor who has stressed the party’s commitment to fiscal responsibility, told Labour’s conference in Brighton she would be “the first green chancellor” and that the costs of climate change would be greater if the government did not invest now. The party is pledging an additional £28bn of green capital investment a year until 2030 – equivalent to more than half the current defence budget. Under Labour, Reeves said, there would “no dither, no delay” in tackling the crisis." Rachel Reeves herself stated that it was important for the money to be invested sooner rather than later (see comments above). So that the UK can begin benefitting and improving imminently. Labour may well end up spending the equivalent of that by 2030, and if they do that it'll be a fantastic achievement... but it's still not what was originally pledged. That is a fact. It may also be true that the pledge had to change because of factors beyond Labour's control because the Tory government have made a complete sh*t show of the economy. But... the pledge has still changed. That is a fact. My personal feelings: I understand the climb down, I think it's a bit disappointing but ultimately probably sensible and hopefully Labour will be more careful about overcommitting when it comes to hot topic policy like the environment. I'm not having a go, they still have my support... I'm just not going to pretend it hasn't happened.
  3. If we get to clean energy by 2030, that's great and a massive achievement for Labour! But unless they spend £28bn a year, every year to 2030... then yes, they've climbed back on a pledge. That's a fact.
  4. I look forward to PMQs (and political campaigns) when we finally get the live AI fact-checking bots.
  5. This on GM FB today... incoming sounds better than 'Next couple of months' which was the answer yesterday.
  6. This is such a weird take. Plenty of people work for tickets/food, of course, the cost of that is covered by punters' tickets... who in exchange get to go to a festival that has people working in it... which makes it run. That's how the whole thing works. Did you know all the 'freeloading' bands also get free food and tickets?
  7. You do you man, but I don't think there's any conspiracy here. If you're suggesting that there might be people claiming to be anti-Tory who are actually secret Tory supporters... that's pretty out there!
  8. Are you talking about the general population or discussions in these forums?
  9. So you've said a few times. The thing is, it's not like people are being critical of Labour AND giving the Conservatives a big free pass. Most of them will vote Labour and the Tories won't even get a look in. Casting a critical eye on a political party before you lend them your support (I very intentionally use the word support instead of vote) is the right thing to do.
  10. Not sure about the headliners but based on who's about I reckon we'll have some of: Sleater-Kinney, Nation of Language, Heartworms, Baxter Drury, Hotwax, Lankum, Mary in the Junkyard, Tapir, The Reds the Pinks the Purples. Would be nice to get some news soon!
  11. Holds up the “We know the Tories are sh*t and expect more from Labour” sign.
  12. Had a Labour canvasser at the door this week. I told him I'm rooting for Labour but will be voting Green.
  13. Something would be nice! I wanna start finding my new favourite bands.
  14. I think it’ll have to go that way! Tax companies that are making lots of money but not hiring people. I’m sure they’ll all wilfully go for it as well and won’t need to be dragged kicking and screaming or try and find ways around it 😂
  15. It’s really cute to hear everyone talking about pensions based on the existing system… the whole thing is going to need a rethink when all the jobs get automated by AI and there’s no one left to pay Into the pot 😂
  16. Great to see so many deserving individuals on the list…
  17. Replacement Iconic Heritage Act Hotline, Angus speaking, how can I help you?
  18. That's exactly what we did. They were also VERY STRONG.
  19. I'm still upset that we lost the Lagerittas last year.
