Nope not always. Although she maybe wrong as she couldn't get name exact when I asked her! Folk is Sarurday in Woods, not all weekend. There was some folk tinged stuff in Meadow last year too.

We've had Show of Hands and various Scottish guitar-driven folkers on the Main Stage back in the day, but the Woods is where I think folk sits best. Personally the whole line is fascinating, but not as much folk as hoped for.

  2. Nipped on to make sure I'm getting all the jazz.

But for original poster, Blue Lab Beats merge electronica jazz and Afrobeat. Playing Sunday 2:30 to 3:30 at The Lonely Hearts Club, Other Stage edge of Dance Village  Silver Hayes. I'm made up to be able to catch them. Not quite last year's Herbie Hancock on the Pyramid, but it might do your guest.

playing glastonbury but the wrong glastonbury likely to visit the farm, too.

May be an image of 1 person and text

That's be great, used to catch him regularly at the festival but he's not been in a good few years now IIRR.

  4. Heard yesterday, glad to see there's a thread for him. He was a well-informed poster, not least about the weather. Was looking forward to bumping into him at the last fest of the season next weekend, which means the last time I did was at a Glasto info stand where he and Debs were regular workers. RIP William.

    @Sku

For anyone who may think otherwise, you're never too old for Boomtown!

Yup, my first time and can vouch for that. Was out-aged by about a 50:1 ratio but seldom felt I was in the wrong place. & not just cos there was plenty to see and do. Apart from having to acclimatise to the heat to start with (quickly discovered Tribe of Frog and Twisted Roots for beats under trees), it was stunning. So much going on, in such close proximity, without sound bleed or overcrowding.

In a time with a plethora of gnarly bands the fest is found really lacking, has to be said.

Whomever is booking these type of bands needs to give the lads in Levitation a bell.

You referring to Terry Bickers' early 90s band Levitation? Sweet if so, be great if they reformed.

Nick Turner has been playing daily slots in the Green Futures field for the past few years.  I've never managed to see any of these, although I did go and see him fronting Hawkwind in 2019.  Search the schedule - he's on the Mandala Stage every day from around midday and this year it's in honour of Arabella Churchill and Andrew Kerr.

Made it to the Thursday morning jam slot and a good spacey jam it was too...although without Nik. Someone announced he was sick, but wasn't clear whether it was just that day or whether it was more serious and he couldn't make the festival at all?

I managed a couple of tunes on Saturday lunchtime, one nice jam and one vocal epic. No sign of Nik Turner, but a whole load of driving musicians. Can anyone name any of them from these photos?

shes at womad in a few weeks (along with flaming lips), playing her version of 'remain in light', looking forwards to that. 😄

Yup, found out afterwards two of her six tunes at G were Talking Heads covers. One day I will find out what all the fuss is with them.....

She'll be like Beckham at the world cup 2002, able to play but not really match fit.

Glad to have been wrong there, Celeste was enthralling. Have since rediscovered her album.

Leon Bridges and Angelique Kidjo we’re both incredibly good 🙂

Angelique Kidjo was a random fine catch for us.

West Holts still my favourite stage for what they line up. Also took in fine sets from Nubiyan Twist and Emma Jean Thackray there.

Was there something wrong with the camera feeds during most of the set?  What was being shown on the side screens looked like it was mainly coming from the mixing desk cameras which were hamper by flags (and mr blobby) until the encore when we seemed to get better shots from the pit cameras etc.

It kind of detracted from the experience a bit I thought. Not being able to see Neil clearly at all until the end.  Obviously was fine on the BBC feed all along.

Exactly this. But it only seems to have afflicted some of us. Still great though.

Agreed re Vocal Megabowl, but add in Burn too. They've had a good few bangers these last ten years.

  11. Looks like 200,000 for Glasto week, around double my usual. High of 58000 for one dancy day/night. Just a slightly sore toe as collateral, which got fixed on site.

All that fresh air and walking was just the tonic.

  12. Angelique Kidjo brought out Shabaka Hutchings for some jazzy sax support on one tune. He wasn't playing anywhere as far as I know but I guess he just had to turn up for Jazz Sunday with Herbie et al. Could not believe it, we only caught Angelique's set randomly.

  13. Caught the first 1.5 Other Stage tunes. They were the happiest person I saw on stage, and it looked an immense gig. But my other half was arriving at Gate A so had to leg it. No probs, left me wanting more, and there's always their album of the year to listen to on repeat.

  14. Never thought I'd catch Herbie live after discovering him big time in lockdown. Great crowd too and what a tight set. Didn't spot the Rockit nod though, when was that? To be fair was expecting mainly 70s stuff.

Caught Emma Jean Thackray too, lovely stuff. And they were playing her in the Co Op round tea time. Almost a secret set!

  15. Yup, we were watching from a far right angle and there seemed to be a malfunctioning screen throughout. People closer and TV didn't seem to have that. Couldn't make out a lot from the big screens either, lots of complex images, again maybe the angle. Wasn't a patch on their 2010 set consequently, even if it was still a great sing and dance along.

I would very much expect she won’t be attending given the content of her statement.  Sorry 😞

I'm hoping it's the opposite, that she gave up the tour in the hope of playing Glastonbury with lots of BBC coverage.

I should go plan a reserve on Clashfinder.....
