Mentioned elsewhere but Hyde Park can't have more than 7 dates in a 3 week period. This is now reached with Eagles announcement which means Elton can't add a 2nd date there leaving Sat and Sun both free for him.2 points

In the end I'd say PS and Glastonbury are both pretty extraordinary festivals though, yes, very different...1 point

Glastonbury is incredible and I agree it's a bit special, especially the depth of lineup/variety I guess where it falls short for me vs PS is - there is a lot of MOR dross amongst all the good stuff (e.g. the last edition had Hozier, Liam Gallagher, George Ezra, Bastille, Snow Patrol, Two Door Cinema Club, Lewis Capaldi, Lumineers in prominent spots on the main and other stage). - the huge distance between stages (takes even longer if muddy or caught in a crowd) at Glastonbury, meaning you miss too many bands you want to see - even if no there's clash - near guaranteed sunshine and heat at Primavera (near guaranteed not to have it at Glastonbury...). Also for me, sleeping in a comfortable bed each night gives Primavera an edge too. I'm just too tired to fully enjoy Glastonbury by the third day...1 point

Ahhh, that's very kind of you, Ben. I do enjoy this thread, my favourite on the site in all honesty, full of passionate, knowledgeable and totally unpretentious people. I love hearing about everyone's weekend adventures and there's not a week that goes by without me discovering something new, thanks to you guys.1 point

I'm kind of pro scottish independence even though I'm English...but if actually happened, and at moment I think more likely it won't, then I would probably end up quite sad about it. But...at same time I have always thought of myself as British rather than English...I don't know, feels a bit nasty racist morrisey c**t to be English...but recently that's changed, and maybe it's ok to say you're English, in a Southgate mutlicultural remainery wokey sort of way. So, yeah, fuck off Scotland. And Wales. And that shitty bit of Ireland.1 point

Download has a problem with punters not considering acts to be worthy of headlining, which the festival has played into by not bumping up new headliners and it’s going to bite them in the arse in coming years. Biffy Clyro are one of the biggest British bands of the millennium, of course they are a worthy headliner. People who say they aren’t are part of the problem of bands not being perceived as ‘worthy’ enough to play the festival. How much do they cost then?1 point

The Mysterines last night. Good stuff from them again, looking forward to the album coming out next year. They could do with working on their between song action. Quite big gaps between songs and very little audience interaction other than "Is everyone alright?" and "This one is called..." with lots of arsing about with pedals etc. but I'm sure that will come. Support act Stone, who were drafted in at 3pm after one of the scheduled supports tested positive for covid, were a lot of fun, I'll keep an eye out for them in future.1 point

Who knows mate? We all have to get aboard Chelsea and abandon any thoughts of supporting any other useless club. It’ll be Man City the year after and probably Newcastle the year after that so at least it’ll be varied! It’ll be a right bugger getting tickets though, seeing as we’ll all be supporting the same club, but at least it’ll be successful1 point

Yeah, agree with this a lot, @Matt42 There was lots to enjoy about Waterworks festival in September, good sound on a number of the stages etc, but I found to really hard to get to, get into and see out a full set. That was partly my fault as I probably tried to see too many DJs and so was bouncing between stages too much (Moi? Surely not...), but also maybe that it wasn't quite my ideal environment. I love dancing outside, but I also 'have' to be right in a crowd to feel part of the set. That was impossible at WW without being in a position where it was so rammed that dancing was impossible. I can't understand why so many people seem content to be shoulder to shoulder with no way of moving more than an inch, at a rave. Surely that's missing the whole point, isn't it? That leads me back to the (gentle and non-pompous) challenge that so, so many people now seem to go to events to be as close as possible to their idol DJ, rather than go to immerse themselves in the dance and the music. Ho hum! 1. we defo need to get at least one set meet-up of threaders at GF2022, so we can put out philosophy into practice 2. we defo have to get @Supernintendo Chalmers to GF2022... Ben1 point

Feeling refreshed after a walk on the moors today, been getting over a stinker of a cold but finally out the other end. Bruce enjoyed it to. Clocks tonight. Hope everyone is fine and dandy as we enter November, peace and cider 🙏 😊1 point

Recalling the chat on spiking ITT. Expect no less from the good folk at the invisible wind factory but still a tip of the cap to them for this. Hopefully other venues take a leaf out of their book.1 point

I'd be surprised if we get anything today. Ken is usually a bit more chatty when there is incoming news... Please be more chatty Ken. 😉1 point

Correct me if I’m wrong but I’m starting to get the inkling that you’re a fan of Primavera.1 point

What's the best camping Summer festival in terms of setting (i.e. discounting the music) from this list? I loved the Paredes de Coura site - very scenic. And Green Man.1 point

Guess this thread is the best fit... Found a great video of Suzanne Vega doing Tom's Diner acapella at the BBC, with a little monologue about it before hand.1 point

Hung Parliament territory baby. It would be quite something if the Tories completely lost their huge majority at the next election.-1 points
