  1. There's been a few individual threads lately with people offering up tickets for gigs they or friends can't make so I thought I'd start a catch all thread. I've got one spare ticket for Mysterines at Liverpool O2 Academy tonight. It's a show on your phone job so I can just send a screen shot if anyone wants it.

  2. You’d have to say that theres probs some good reasons to care about all that climate stuff without having kids. I’d say when 1mil people marched against the Iraq war, few of them would have had Iraqi relatives (or indeed military personnel relatives). And it is the same. WHO estimates 150k/year deaths from climate change already. But even if you were completely unmotivated by empathy and argued that the cost of the Iraq war was borne by the taxpayer and therefore it directly effects you as a taxpayer- so does climate change, and will eventually cost more than the Iraq war during our lifetimes. Thats before we even talk of the potential geopolitical storm and the supply side shocks and mass migration it may cause, in our lifetimes. Besides which, even without kids you’ll have a very high degree of your genes passed on by others. Because as much as we are all a unique combination of genes, the individual genes are probs not that unique and exist in different combinations in many other folk. So even from an evolutionary perspective, it benefits you to look after the wellbeing of your fellow man ✌️ peace and love

  3. Easier said than done. Football is an emotional attachment. Win lose or draw, promotion or relegation, you just can’t turn away from something you have supported all your life. You live in hope! Whereas music is based on your current taste, its an easy decision whether or not to see a band. Edit, Glastonbury is an exception, it has a tremendous emotional attachment!

  4. well to be honest, if it takes that much time, I'd rather have a big load of names just like in 2020 than a few names on Monday, 2 ore on Wednesday, 1 more on Friday etc... I was really excited in 2020 when they "BOOM !, there you go 80 names mother fucker !" 🤣so I'm okay to wait a bit longer. Might means end of November now..

  5. Having read their post I've thrown my Southampton season tickets in the bin, bought a Chelsea kit and now support them instead. All those memories of great escapes, back to back promotions, the 6 European away days I went to, the finals and semis at Wembley were such a waste of time. What was I thinking?

  6. “Support a better club” ffs, that’s ridiculous 😂 it’s literally impossible, I’m well over three decades embedded into my particular set of useless twats. You’re fundamentally misunderstanding the concept of support.

  7. Originally I listed everyone under the stage they played first so the same act weren't competing against themselves, as all the other Park and John Peel acts have been eliminated Hot Chip have grabbed both titles but their West Holts set is definitely part of it.

  8. But that Chic set on West Holt’s was better than Hot Chips Park show IMO

  9. Mentioned elsewhere but Hyde Park can't have more than 7 dates in a 3 week period. This is now reached with Eagles announcement which means Elton can't add a 2nd date there leaving Sat and Sun both free for him.

  10. £1.75 is not one pound. I don't even think you know what facts are.

  11. Yeah the 4 new songs were ace! Slightly shorter set than usual, JDB has long covid apparently

  12. This is as ridiculous as when REM won the last one. Nobody left can complete with Justice in 2017.

  13. Good shout Gnom … I had some a few weeks back that I couldn’t shift … it’s a shame they went unused … every person in the venues helps them on the slow road to recovery

  14. @bennyhana22 I went to junction 2 on its first year I think? It was interesting. I guess the production was good for a London event and that stage under the bridge is something special. However the crowd was awful and it felt like too much of a mix match of artists. Each area seemed to have its own clientele and there was no cohesion in the audience. While I love festivals because you get your moneys worth by seeing as many bands as you can - I can’t say this is equivalent for DJs. My preference has always been for well catered lineups with less DJs but longer sets. An event with only 2/3 DJs or an all night long is my preference over 10 DJs and 1 hour sets. All strokes for different folks but I feel when you go to these day festivals you come back feeling like you’ve seen half a set? Not the full shebang? They are good for gatherings with friends but if you are after the set of your life you won’t find it!

  15. Recalling the chat on spiking ITT. Expect no less from the good folk at the invisible wind factory but still a tip of the cap to them for this. Hopefully other venues take a leaf out of their book.

  16. Thanks for bringing her to my attention. Might have to buy some of her attractive masks.

  17. I've just got back from my "first gig back". Bob Vylan were a great supporting act, tackled a few hecklers in the crowd well and delivered a really solid set. Biffy Clyro - although hated by some here - delivered a solid set in a smaller than venue. Few odd choices in the setlist aside - very little 'early stuff' and some obvious tunes missed - it was a great return to live music. There is something soothing about being back in a crowd, although some seem to have forgotten any kind of etiquette! Roll on the next gig, next week!

  18. Agreed, but the last point is the important one. Apparantly ticket sales must be going well despite almost no names, since they can afford to wait so much longer than competiting festivals. Would be interesting to see how ticket sales will be going forward with Covid-cases spiking throughout Europe again. Here in Norway everyone expected concerts to be packed after pretty much every restriction was lifted, but some artists (especially those that target older audiences) are beginning to cancel their tours due to disappointing ticket sales. It seems like some people are reluctant to big crowds still, so the risk of slower sales now that those really eager to go to festivals have bought their tickets, is probably there.

  19. John Peel Tent & The Park Hot Chip 565 Jazz World / West Holts Chic ft. NiIe Rodgers 325 Justice 557 (+10) Maaaan. I have to back my guys, as anyone who went to these gigs knows Justice was the best. No way do Hot Chip stans win this. However, if Justice do pass into shadow, it will be with the full knowledge that Chic will rise like a carbon monolith created by dropping a ton of sugar into a swimming pool of sulphuric acid, and shit all over those tinny miniature cymbals. Full disclosure: I didn't see all of Hot Chips set because it was bobbins.

  20. Yet they’ve slashed taxes for banks, domestic flights and Prosecco; seems a very skewed priority set. That’s the aim though to cut taxes before the next election.

  21. It seems that when more and more look into the detail of this budget, more seem to not like it and Sunak.

  22. Seems an appropriate place to drop this. Some proper chuckles in here. Number 11 in particular made me snort coffee out of my nose.

  27. Was just listening to the version of A Dustland Fairytale with Springsteen on it on the way home and remembered how it came about because The Boss watched The Killers’ Glastonbury set and texted Brandon saying “we should do Dustland sometime”. Makes you wonder if he texted Emily Eavis too saying “I should do Glastonbury again sometime” when he saw The Killers killing it on the ‘Mid. Obviously he didn’t but please take this sequence of words in the form of a forum post as a gift from me to you.

  28. I think this is the right thread. Took DVB jnr to Coombe Abbey Park for a wander about and came across a tribute to the NHS by Standing With Giants. Its a large installation of around 300 life size NHS figures (some shown below). "To honour and thank those who work so tirelessly fighting for out freedom, in particular a tribute to those who lost their battle to COVID-19 whilst working on the frontline". Uplifting, thought provoking and sad in equal measure, its impact doubles when you walk through the display and realise that every one has been written on the back by members the public, offering thanks, support for the NHS and in some cases in memorandum for those who didn't make it. DVB jnr was more interested in the ducks 😃
