  1. You don't need to hit Sheeran levels of ubiquity though to headline Glastonbury. And the reason that Capaldi/Fender have had more press is because they've actually released stuff since Ezra. Adele having 4 years off didn't do her any harm. Not saying that Ezra will ever get to global superstardom like Adele/Sheeran, but to rule him out of ever getting to Glastonbury headline status at the moment is absurd. If the next album is a complete dud then it's highly unlikely that the ship would have sailed him by. But if his next album hits the same high then he's definitely in the conversation to headline, regardless of the fact he's headlined other, large festivals in the meantime. I'm saying this as someone who has absolutely zero interest in the bloke, never listened to him. But to claim his ship has sailed after two huge albums purely on the basis he's taken a booking elsewhere is just ridiculous.

  2. @Ken19, I don't even ask for a headliner, for me tomorrow it was 20 medium/small names. Already despair for new names 😆

  3. It would be so nice to have 20 names or something like that

  4. Well, damn sorry if Johnny Borrell rubbed you the wrong way but he's a genius, musically, culturally, everything, maybe you should be the one banned from the park

  5. I feel like a lot of the time club operators are given the keys to old buildings / land by mega corporations / land owners specifically to kind of make an area look cool before they inevitably have to make way for the original purpose for which the land was acquired. Canal Mills in leeds is also a good example, its now being demolished and flats / houses built on it. the clubs are rarely meant to be there for the long haul just as a stop gap until finance and design are in place and to “kick off” the regeneration project, so to speak. Its all gentrification in the end.

  6. This is, quite simply, the best lineup of any festival (outside the huge ones) anywhere ever.

  7. I agree Disclosure would feel super tepid as a headliner. What I absolutely don't want is for Sziget to bet the farm on one humongous act I'm not fussed about (*cough* Coldplay) and then dilute the rest of the week because of it. It's supposed to be a multi-day experience, it's not BST.

  8. Personally I think we’re back into “I’m not into them so I’m going to invent reasons why they can’t headline” territory again.

  10. Bro the basis of every discussion point you ever post is something you’ve decided in your own head with no evidence to back it up whatsoever. “you can’t compare this situation because I think Dua Lipa just wants to do that”

  12. Accepting the boardmasters slot really gives weight to the grindcore rumours. Ezra knows he won't be able to headline major festivals with that kind of material

  14. Well damn, sorry if Red Hot Chili Peppers rubbed you the wrong way cause they gave your fave festival one bad performance and you dont think what they do for their albums means anything to the landscape. Theyve been had at least one good song since 1987 and had a 50/50 funk rock split since 1984. Plus a total of 3 occasions of good albums. So a smaller less meaningful band in your eyes with less resources has been able to do that and Bruce Springsteen hasnt, so what does that tell you.

  15. I would have hoped we're not a minority, but The Boss is pretty unrealistic at RW from what I've read in here before. If I were to be proved wrong though, it would be the best ever. There is none above him on my list, but unfortunately I expect I have to find other places to see him next year..

  17. yes those 2 co-headliners on saturday. Friday is sold out so people should be looking for it. According to Ken's declarations, the headliner for Saturday will only be announced when the headliner announces it. Monday pinkpop will announce its last headliner, two other headliners already announced are the same as RW (PJ and Metallica), in recent years, the maximum common headliners between the two festivals was 2 headliners in common, only in 2016 is that all Pinkpop headliners were the same as RW's. Pinkpop in today's ad put this in ( 🤘 ) , so kendrick must not be , I'm believing Bruce or Stones ... or someone who is forgotten 😆

  18. No, the main headliners were Kendrick Lamar (2020) and Gorillaz (2021) for that day. Gorillaz is sadly playing Boutique though... 21P is co-headlining, but I'm pretty sure it'll not be the main name of the day. Faith No More is not a headliner.

  24. JP headline would be spot on for them and I have no doubt they'd nail it. Think it's been said before though that they tend to overvalued their own position, having said that if they're willing to headline a small festival like Bearded Theory then maybe headlining the JP isn't out of the equation.

  28. Saw Henge last night at the Phoenix in Exeter. They were on great form, really good to see them in such a small venue, having only ever seen them on the main stage at Beautiful Days. The crowd were really into them, a few dressed as mushrooms, aliens and spaceships. Didn't notice any excessive chatting during the set, most people were happy dancing. There were a few along the sides who clearly weren't sure what to expect and had the classic WTF look on their faces. If they're on in a venue near you, I'd recommend it!

  32. The only person I spoke to last time was @Avalon_Fields after he came over to our camp site as he'd recognised my flag from Twitter. He opened with "Which one of you is The Thingy?" which confused the Hell out of most of our group as they had no idea what The Thingy is or what he was on about 😄

  35. Talking through gigs is totally unacceptable. The worst people are the ones who chat through a whole song and then clap wildly at the end when they've barely been paying attention. Always have respect for artists who tell the crowd to shut up.

  41. Was just listening to the version of A Dustland Fairytale with Springsteen on it on the way home and remembered how it came about because The Boss watched The Killers’ Glastonbury set and texted Brandon saying “we should do Dustland sometime”. Makes you wonder if he texted Emily Eavis too saying “I should do Glastonbury again sometime” when he saw The Killers killing it on the ‘Mid. Obviously he didn’t but please take this sequence of words in the form of a forum post as a gift from me to you.

  47. Probably not that well known but the tickets are often well priced. I would be tempted but have a few UK concerts around the weekend its on. I went a few years ago and saw Sting & Kasabian headlining. Underworld, Nick Cave & Beck are a decent set of names and Prague is a nice place to spend a weekend. https://metronome.cz/en/
