You're right to worry as a dad, but just remember to step back a little and let them grow, its a difficult balance, but all part of being a decent parent. i did what i had always planned to do when the lineup/clashes came out, which was to catch the first 5-6 songs of Radiohead and then head up to the Park for the Flaming Lips with a nice fresh pint or two - there were a fair few people doing the same, walking past an irate woman shouting at her boyfriend pointing at the stage with Radiohead yelling 'two bloody hours of this, Matthew?' which never fails to tickle me, and still gets used by me to punctuate long boring things 😄 flaming lips were ace, but ive seen them perhaps ten times so i know what to expect - and bringing first timers to see em is a great thing!

Though that's assuming any of them have slots free next summer, given Wembley, Emirates, Tottenham and Olympic Stadiums all have a ton of stuff. Mrs P isn't comfy with the big crowds and was nervous with the Stones so we agreed to do our own thing. I spent several hours near the front with Elvis Costello, Primals, then Mick and the lads. She spent several hours with Steve Winwood, Chase & Status, a Salsa lesson, her pick of the deserted fresh long drops in Glasto Latino, a chat with some random at the Pennard Organic wine tent, and finished her evening with Public Enemy. She still reckons she had the better time even now 🤣

@Sziget2022_Leaks, maybe you can answer that : since this year it's gonna be 6 days instead of 7 , do you know if more acts are happening ? I've always thought that 4 gigs/day on the main stage isn't much...do you know if they might plan 5 gigs/day ?

But for every negative there is a positive as well so it's a tricky situation. There's a lot more support and communities for people now for example victims of sexual assault can much more easily speak to people who have been through the same as them and can through anonymised accounts feel more comfortable telling their story. I think the trouble is we have created a very complex and difficult world that needs much more international cooperation and nuanced laws but the people making the laws don't even understand the technology.

Epic day back in Leeds - probably the best single day, multi-venue city festival I’ve been to. Every act felt like they were at the top of their game and genuinely thrilled to be there. For some of course this isn’t their first gig back but it certainly felt like many of them were getting in touch with something. Thanks to @sacred shape for recommending Stone, who kicked the day off nicely. Followed that with Courting, Spyres, The Big Moon, Hamish Hawk, Sports Team, Feet and The Murder Capital. Caught the back end of a few other artists who all seemed to smash it too. I noticed that the fest didn’t sell out of general admission tickets, and venues were filled without feeling that it was overwhelming. I think only Oporto and Brudenell had to adopt a one in, one out policy for a few acts. There were a few late withdrawals (Goa Express on the day) but that is understandable. All in all it was a great way to sign off the year, if that indeed ends up being my final live experience.

Ah yeah it’s pretty crazy what they can do. They somehow have this ability to light the room to make it seem like there’s no back wall and it extends for eternity. Started looking at flights today. I won't be in a position to book until mid-November at the earliest, but just to get an idea. Frustratingly, SkyScanner incorrectly lists basic tickets as flexible, so you click on the third party agent website and discover the price you thought it was is much higher. Can't wait to book, though. Can't wait to see my family again. There will be tears.

I left Facebook quite a while ago, because it had become so toxic. I've had to cut off friends from twitter, because I find their posts so infuriating (pro-brexit / anti-vax - usually lies). It is so easy to post misinformation, yet requires quite a bit of effort to refute with well-sourced facts. And honestly, life is too short. All joking aside, I think this forum is one of the nicest places on the internet. The vast majority here are able to share differences of opinion without devolving into insults or worse. Let's keep it that way.

Hopefully they turn the camera back on the the start of the build in March, it's always been part of the build up in recent years for me watching the site grow and the fence go up. I think @Ayrshire Chris is right that the BBC control the camera judging by the statement on their website "To respect the privacy of the farm, we’ve switched off the live BBC Glastonbury Webcam for the time being. Instead, you can explore our beautiful archive shots."

I cannot believe there is even debate in this thread. It will definitely be going ahead, apart from if a freak weather event ruins the site in the week before gates. The live music industry is basically back to its pre pandemic state. Green man and end of the road essentially went ahead as normal other than the need to prove a negative test or full vaccination on entry which is very little burden on customers or organisers. People are able to travel overseas with almost no restrictions now. massive events are going ahead fully indoors. Its happening. The govt and society in general have jointly come to the conclusion that life goes on. perhaps most importantly glastonbury needs to happen financially in 2022 or they’ll be in a heck of a pickle.

Can any other venues in the UK can do large screen visuals the way Printworks can (I.e. fairly high concept, Chemical Brothers style productions)?
